Race Preview

R1 – PRIX DU VAL D’OR – 2400m (a1 1/2m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Flat – EUR € 53.000

1. GOYA SENORA – Has run well at Saint-Cloud, obtaining his best result here (2nd) over this
distance. Group II winner of the Prix Kergorlay at Deauville last year and did not run badly on his
return. Dark horse
2. SRIFANELOGREEN – In six starts at Saint-Cloud, including five over this distance, only finished
in the top five once (victory). Two wins at Quinté+ level, the last one this summer at Deauville, now
runs off of a career-high mark
3. MONSIEUR XOO – Has made five starts at Saint-Cloud, including two over this distance, and
has never been out of the top five (two victories). Dangerous at this value
4. MY CHARMING PRINCE – Has gained in strength with age and maturity. although has never
imposed himself on a left-handed track. Recently acquired in a claiming race and has already
proven competitive at this level too
5. KOSAKENZIPFEL – Relatively unexposed but has won a left-handed track. Proved his form by
returning to success recently and has already competed in three Quinté+ races, with a 5th place
result. Outsider
6. HELIOPOLIS – Won on her only foray to this course, exactly a year ago, and returned to winning
ways this summer at Vichy before regaining freshness. Force to be reckoned with
7. HOMO DEUS – Has a good record in his six starts at Saint-Cloud but over 2000m, though has
already won over the classic distance (at Toulouse). Upset potential
8. DREAMS – Has four podiums (one victory) in six starts at Saint-Cloud. Runner-up at Group III
level in Italy and has shot up the weights as a result. Dark horse
9. FLATTEN THE CURVE – Placed four times (no victories) in five starts at Saint-Cloud, and has
seen his weight situation affected after two handicap victories. Outside chance from wide draw
10. SUNFAST – Won his only start at Saint-Cloud over 2100m and has three places in four starts
over this distance. Maxime Guyon engaged bodes well for his chances
11. NORTH HUNTER – Yet to finish out of the top five in three starts at Saint-Cloud and has shown
considerable means. Proven at this level and is likely to play a leading role
12. LORENZO DE MEDICI – Has few references on left-handed tracks and discovers this classic
distance for the first time. Place chance only
13. PANJAMAN – Undeniably capable but appears far from his best. Will be wearing classic
blinkers for the first time and that
could transform him                                                                                                    14. JUST LIGHT – Has little experience on left-handed tracks, even if he does have a victory on
Pornichet’s PSF. Won a second event at Longchamp and has room for improvement though.
Beware
15. ALJANAH – Confirmed racing to the left but has done np better than 6th in two starts at this
track, though has run well at Quinté+ level. Dark horse
16. ULTRASOUND – Placed 4th over 2800m on his discovery of this track and was not unworthy
at this level as a three-year-old. Unlikely to have reached his full potential

Summary : NORTH HUNTER (11) was enjoying a good run of form before experiencing a setback
at Longchamp, but he is worth another chance and is taken to get the better of HELIOPOLIS (6),
who has been kept fresh for this race. A good run can also be expected from SUNFAST (10), with
Maxime Guyon engaged to ride. Christophe Soumillon is back aboard SRIFANELOGREEN (2),
which is clearly a positive sign.

SELECTIONS
NORTH HUNTER (11) – HELIOPOLIS (6) – SUNFAST (10) – SRIFANELOGREEN (2)

R2 – PRIX BARQUETTE – 1400m (a7f) – TURF – Condition Race – Flat – EUR € 30.000

1. MAIZIERES – Has shown sufficient means to get into the picture here but has no more than a
place chance. Best watched for now
2. MARJANE – Exciting filly with the profile of one who should have a bright future. Ran well on
debut at Compiègne and is likely to play a leading role
3. LADY INVINCIBLE – Finished an encouraging 4th on debut at ParisLongchamp but ought to be
better suited to this distance. Will be a factor
4. SAXON GIRL – Improving filly with sound form references. Finished 2nd last time and ought to
be competitive once more
5. IRADIE – Has improved with every outing, finishing 3rd last time out. Could get into the poiture
with further progress
6. NINI STAR – Open to improvement after finishing a pleasing 6th on debut, when probably unlucky
not to have finished closer. Watch out
7. ZVIKOVA – Likely improver after an encouraging debut, in which she finished 4th. Has only a
place chance though
8. ISLAND FANTASY – Runner-up on debut before finishing 5th next/last time out, so will need to
reaffirm. Others are prefererd
9. RHETORIQUE – Entitled to improve after an encouraging debut (5th) and with Dorian Provost’s
2,5kg allowance. Dark horse
10. ROUHIYA – Well-bred newcomer whose dam won on debut before finishing 3rd place in a
Listed race. Warrants respect

Summary : A tricky contest featuring a host of unexposed fillies with tons of room for improvement,
though none make more appeal than MARJANE (2) who finished a promising 3rd on debut despite
a rough race. LADY INVINCIBLE (3) was 4th in a good field first time out and should also have
more to offer. Newcomer ROUHIYA (10) is of particular interest too, given that she is both well bred
and entrusted to Mickaël Barzalona. RHETORIC (9) completes the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
MARJANE (2) – LADY INVINCIBLE (3) – ROUHIYA (10) – RHETORIQUE (9)

R3 – PRIX PHAREL – 1400m (a7f) – TURF – Condition Race – Flat – EUR € 30.000

1. RETORT – Consistent sort with solid references/credentials from his four outings. Has the form
and experience to fight for victory
2. SHADIZI – Has shown his quality in both starts, improving from his debut 4th to finish 3rd last
time. Should have more to offer
3. GOLDEN PHARAOH – Improved to finish 4th at Compiègne last time and will benefit from the
1,5kg allowance of his rider Maryline Eon.
4. DAY TRADER – Unplaced and well beaten on debut so is hard to make a case for here. Could
improve but is best watched for now
5. BELLANO – Was trapped out wide when finishing 7th on debut but would have gained plenty
from that experience and should improve
6. TECUMSEH – Ought to improve with the benefit of experience, having finished 7th on debut.
SHoul have more to offer
7. STORMYGO – Runner-up four starts back but has been disappointing in three starts since, so
needs to reaffirm. Best just to watch
8. GOLUPTIOUS – Improved to finish 5th last time with the benefit of experience. Could get into
the picture, though has only a place chance
9. GRAN HABANO – Ribchester colt who will be bidding to emulate his dam’s debut success. Not
one to be taken lightly
10. HAPPY AGAIN – Dandy Man colt, one of only two newcomers in the race, trained by Alessandro
Botti and to be ridden by Pierre Bazzire

Summary : RETORT (1) has already shown great ability and brings experience into the race.
SHADIZI (2) has not run too many times and therefore has room for improvement. BELLANO (5)
ran better in his debut finish placing suggest and should improve, so could have a say. The only
runner in the race benefitting from his rider’s allowance, GOLDEN PHARAOH (3) is another to
make note of.

SELECTIONS
RETORT (1) – SHADIZI (2) – BELLANO (5) – GOLDEN PHARAOH (3)
