September 30 Selangor Preview by Mark Lydeamore

The rail will be out 4m for the entire circuit on Course E for the ten-race program of racing at Selangor Turf Club this Saturday.

The 1400m Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YO Trophy (Race 5) for Class 3 performers will headline the card and EMPEROR TAI ZONG (1) and HANDSOME BENZ (2) are set to clash with each other for the third time in a row. Both gallopers filled the minor placings in a Class 3 contest on August 19 before finishing 4th and 5th respectively over 1400m three weeks later. EMPEROR TAI ZONG (1) has finished ahead on both occasions and is yet to miss a place in three runs at Class 3 level. His handy statistic of four wins from seven starts over 1400m places him in good stead with the aid of a 3kg apprentice claim. HANDSOME BENZ (2) will be fourth up and despite not scoring beyond 1200m, the 8yo does possess a quick turn of acceleration off a genuine pace. HIGH WATER (6) raced below his best when a beaten favorite over 1100m last start and steps up to 1400m for the first time. However the stable is in form at the moment and the gelding can bounce back without surprising. ZANJABEEL (4) is improving with each run this preparation and has the speed to be prominent throughout. WATCH OUT BOSS (9) wasn’t overly taxed in a Tuesday trial and is worth watching first up from Singapore.

Race 5 Selections: 1, 6, 2, 4

OLYMPIA (8) from the Simon Dunderdale stable displayed his true potential with a dominant display when leading throughout in a Class 5 contest here a fortnight ago. The 6yo was first up for just under four months and looks hard to beat on the class upgrade in the 1100m Go To Gold Coast 24 Oct Handicap (Race 7). LIM’S UNIQUE (5) has been racing over a variety of distances and drops back sharply in journey. The 7yo has caught the eye flashing home his past two runs into minor placings and gets his chance to break through in Class 4 company. NO REGRETS (4) appeared plain last start but is proven in the grade while ROCK N ROLL (9) wasn’t far away last time following his fourth win in the country at his prior run.

Race Selections: 8, 5, 4, 9
