Race Preview

R1 – PRIX DE LA VITESSE – 1100m (a5 1/2f) – TURF – Claiming – Flat – EUR € 12.500

1. CUNCERTA – Inconsistent filly but has the means to be competitive in her first start at this level.
Ran her best race at this course
2. OVER CHOPE – Has yet to spark the necessary improvement in better races/company but
should fare better with her sights lowered now in a claiming race
3. SANTA VANILLA – Inconsistent filly but is confirmed at this level and undeniably capable of
having a say here. Keep safe
4. GOGOKA – Unplaced in a conditions race last time but did finish runner-up at this level
previously. Will have a role to play
5. SHE WILL – Finished a modest 7th on debut but is open to any amount of improvement with the
benefit of that experience. Beware
6. HAMIDA FILIES – Has not gone unnoticed in any of her four appearances, seldom finishing far
off the mark. Could get into the picture here

Summary : GOGOKA (4), despite his recent failure (7th) in a conditions race at Moulins, is likely
to feature prominently back at this level having been touched off in a similar contest over this
distance at Dieppe in July. CUNCERTA (1) and OVER CHOPE (2), both of whom are new to the
claiming division, have the means to fight for victory so must be respected. SANTA VANILLA (3)
has also shown enough to make her presence felt.

SELECTIONS
GOGOKA (4) – CUNCERTA (1) – OVER CHOPE (2) – SANTA VANILLA (3)

R2 – PRIX GERARD NOUGIER – 1100m (a5 1/2f) – TURF – Handicap – Flat – EUR € 20.000

1. RED CHARM – Has struggled to make an impression off a similar mark in her last two starts after
consecutive handicap wins. Outsider
2. GIORGIANA – Was not disgraced in finishing 5th last time after consecutive victories. Should
have a role to play
3. MGHEERA – Has revealed her quality on several occasions in maiden races this year and should
hold her own in handicaps of this type
4. QUEEN KAHINA – Quick filly who has already proven her competitiveness in handicaps at this
level off her current mark. Winning chance
5. RISE ABOVE – Distance suited and confirmed in handicaps at this value. Should have a role to
play in a race of this nature
6. ZAVADREAM – Unreliable but not entirely incapable of getting into the picture. Hard to trust but
is as hard to rule out
7. GO JOHNNY GO GO GO – Performed very well in handicaps at this level during the first half of
the year. Ought to have a say here

Summary : QUEEN KAHINA (4) lines up here in good form and physical condition, having run well
recently in a Moulins maiden, and she ought to be competitive for victory back in a handicap.
MGHEERA (3) has flattered to deceive but is, judged on her best references, capable of fighting
out the finish on handicap debut. Both RISE ABOVE (5) and GO JOHNNY GO GO GO (7) have
the means to play a leading role too.

SELECTIONS
QUEEN KAHINA (4) – MGHEERA (3) – RISE ABOVE (5) – GO JOHNNY GO GO GO (7)

R3 – PRIX DES CIGALES – 2400m (a1 1/2m) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 22.000

1. BEAUTIFUL MEMORY – Consistent filly with solid form references, including two wins over this
2400m distance. Ought to be competitive
2. AIXELLENCE – Won a maiden race three starts back but has finished unplaced in both
subsequent outings. Must reaffirm
3. ROUGE – Won back-to-back outings before finishing 7th last time out. Capable of better but best
watched for now
4. SANTHIA – Has made constant progress since the spring and should appreciate this step up to
this distance. Leading light
5. AMELIELYMPIQUE – Talented filly, absent since for nigh on four months but did win easily at
this level earlier this year so should be competitive on her return

Summary : Jérôme Reynier-trained AMELIELYMPIQUE (5) will be a popular choice in this Class
2, despite returning from a layoff of almost 4 months, having already sufficient means to win a race
of this nature. Both SANTHIA (4) and BEAUTIFUL MEMORY (1) have also shown enough quality
to fight for victory and are likely to pose a threat. AIXELLENCE (2) isn’t devoid of ability either, so
should not be neglected.

SELECTIONS
AMELIELYMPIQUE (5) – SANTHIA (4) – BEAUTIFUL MEMORY (1) – AIXELLENCE (2)

R4 – PRIX RAYMOND GODINEZ – 2400m (a1 1/2m) – TURF – Claiming – Flat – EUR € 12.000

1. WELDORPHER – Seldom finishes far off the mark and could get into the picture but has no more
than a place chance
2. LE TROPIC – Has won a claiming race and finished 2nd as well as 4th in three starts at this level.
High on the shortlist
3. BREIZH WOOD – Easy last-start winner of a maiden race at Cavaillon and ought to have a say
in the finish with a repeat of that performance
4. STRATUS – Seldom far off the mark and finished 5th in a claiming race last time. Will be a factor
with any improvement
5. ALLEZ LULU – Holding form in handicaps but with little margin at this value. Ought to fare better
in a claiming race now
6. PAS DE VELOURS – Made no impression when finishing unplaced on debut but ought to
improve with that experience. Outsider
7. LE DRAKKAR – Rewarded for consistency with a last-start victory and isn’t entirely incapable of
getting into the picture

Summary : BREIZH WOOD (3) won a maiden at Cavaillon last month by three lengths and need
only to run to that level of form to fight for victory in this claiming race. LE TROPIC (2) is confirmed
in this grade and likely to pose a threat, which ALLEZ LULU (5) could do too in his first outing in
the claiming division. STRATUS (4) let the side down last time but is not incapable of resurfacing
here.

SELECTIONS
BREIZH WOOD (3) – LE TROPIC (2) – ALLEZ LULU (5) – STRATUS (4)

R5 – PRIX ALL IS VANITY – 1800m (a1 1/8m) – TURF – Condition Race – Newcomers – Flat – EUR € 23.000

1. LUCKY BERE – Christophe Escuder-trained Seahenge newcomer to be ridden on debut by
Sylvain Ruis. One to keep an eye on
2. BACK IN PARIS – Well-related colt from the Jean-Claude Rouget stable. This full-brother to
Listed winner Song of Life makes plenty appeal on paper
3. PARADISE STORM – Fabrice Vermeulen-trained Masked Marvel colt closely related to several
well-performed sorts. Keep safe
4. FOR WIN – Mehmas colt worth keeping an eye on given the booking of Guillaume Millet, who
has a good record when riding for Nicolas Perret
5. LE PHOCEA – Grégoire Legras rides this Zelzal colt on debut for trainer Brigitte Ré-Scandella.
Not taken lightly
6. SOKNA – One of three Christophe Escuder-trained runners in the race with Marie Vélon engaged
to ride this Hunter’s Light filly
7. FACINATRICE – Master’s Spirit debutante whose dam was a well-performed handicapper. Did
not take up a prior engagement but is one to note
8. WIKENDA – Patrice Cottier-trained Panis filly from a stable enjoying a successful start to the
year. Marvin Grandin rides
9. CLASH ROYALE – The third of three runners in the race for trainer Christophe Escuder. Tony
Piccone rides this Recoletos debutante
10. NOVA KEN – Well-bred Kendargent debutante whose dam won a Listed race. Antonio Orani
rides for trainer Jérôme Reynier

Summary : BACK IN PARIS (2), NOVA KEN (10) and WIKENDA (8), trained and presented here
by Jean-Claude Rouget, Jérôme Reynier and Patrice Cottier respectively, appear the most likely
winners of this two-year-old race for newcomers. PARADISE STORM (3), FOR WIN (4) and
FACINATRICE (7) complete the shortlist but should not be discounted for win purposes.

SELECTIONS
BACK IN PARIS (2) – NOVA KEN (10) – WIKENDA (8) – PARADISE STORM (3)

R6 – PRIX DES SOCIETAIRES – 2000m (a1 1/4m) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 17.000

1. CUSANO – Unreliable but not devoid of sufficient means to play a role here. Hard to trust but is
as hard to rule out
2. GOLDEN CITY – Runner-up in his last two starts, this consistent colt trained by Jean-Claude
Rouget will not be winning out of turn
3. NEW RULER – Well-born colt who got off to a promising (2nd) start when finishing ahead of
several more-experienced rivals. One to beat
4. ZOFF – Has looked rather ordinary to this point, so his chances are limited even at this level.
Ignore
5. SKATHI – Consistent since the start of the year and boasts solid form references. This trip
(2000m) will be right up his alley
6. LAST STICK – Rémi Fradet-trained Johnny Barnes gelding to be ridden on debut by Sylvain
Ruis. Will be worth keeping an eye on
7. GIMANZOR – Well-bred newcomer whose dam won a Listed race and has already produced
capable handicapper Dar Toungi
8. UNE DE BONNEVEINE – Pierre Sigaud’s daughter of The Great Spirit to be ridden on debut by
Marvin Grandin. Best watched for now

Summary : Both NEW RULER (3) and GOLDEN CITY (2) are unlikely to be maidens for too long
and should be winning sooner rather than later. With that pair expected to fight for victory,
consistent SKATHI (5) ought to prove best of the rest judged on his form references. Newcomer
GIMANZOR (7) is the second string to Jérôme Reynier’s bow and could be up to playing a leading
role on debut with Tony Piccone engaged to ride.

SELECTIONS
NEW RULER (3) – GOLDEN CITY (2) – SKATHI (5) – GIMANZOR (7)

R7 – PRIX JOSEPH CREISSON – 2000m (a1 1/4m) – TURF – Claiming Handicap – Class 4 – Flat – EUR € 13.000

1. MOUTRAKI – In 11 races at Salon-de-Provence he finished in the top four nine times, including
four successes. In good form of late and can follow up in this claimer
2. THE MANAGER – Has run well twice at this course but has been disappointing of late. Capable
of bouncing back to win
3. GOOD QUESTION – Disappointing form of late and his last win was on the PSF but he should
be right there at the finish if finding his best form
4. TRENAVIN – Only win was on the PSF in March. Drop in distance could spark improvement but
others are preferred
5. ASPEN – On a long losing run and has been disapppointing of late but has run well in claimers
before and could earn some money
6. ELYMAS – Not disgraced when fourth in a claimer last time out. Won twice last year and is
capable of an upset
7. PEGASUS – Disappointing form of late. Did better in claimer earlier this year but does need to
do more to win this race. Might place
8. SECRET FEELING – On a long losing streak but was runner-up the last time she was seen in a
claimer. Can go one better this time

Summary : In great shape and confirmed on this Salon-de-Provence layout, MOUTRAKI (1) sets
a good standard here and looks the most likely winner. SECRET FEELING (8) possesses a useful
finishing burst and should have a say in the finish if getting a decent pace to aim at. THE
MANAGER (2) and GOOD QUESTION (3) are both capable of winning too if rediscovering their
best form, though both have not been at their best recently.

SELECTIONS
MOUTRAKI (1) – SECRET FEELING (8) – THE MANAGER (2) – GOOD QUESTION (3)

R8 – PRIX DE LA LIBERTE – 2000m (a1 1/4m) – TURF – Condition Race Qualifier – Class 4 – Flat – EUR € 12.000

1. ALFIERI – Disappointing form since winning on the PSF in June. Probably better on that surface
and others are preferred
2. SADARAK – On a long losing streak. Drop in distance could spark improvement and is not out
of it in this line-up
3. STAR DRACK – Well tried this year witha win in March but has only been modest of late. He
does have a winning chance in this line-up
4. GOLDEN BEACH – Disappointing form in Ital this year. Did better in France last year and he
could be the surprise package of the race
5. FORCE TRANQUILLE – On a long losing run but showed improvement when runner-up last time
out and can go one better in this small field
6. LOVELY DOLLY – Won twice at the beginning of the year but has been a disappointment of late.
Capable of an upset
7. AIRA – A pleasant finisher recently over 1,700 meters, she will appreciate the longer distance.
Could finish in the money again

Summary : FORCE TRANQUILLE (5), who finished a good 2nd in a Class 4 conditions race at
Cavaillon last month, has the best winning chance in this event. STAR DRACK (3), if judged on
what he has done best, could fight for victory. SADARAK ( 2) could made improvement over this
shorter trip to play a leading role, while AIRA (7) should not be underestimated in an event of this
lower standard.

SELECTIONS
FORCE TRANQUILLE (5) – STAR DRACK (3) – SADARAK (2) – AIRA (7)
