TK Barnabas isn’t a name often seen on the race card these days, but making the most of opportunities when they present themselves is what it’s all about.

With only three races staged at Penang over the weekend, many of the usual big names were missing from the roster. However, Barnabas managed to secure rides in all three races. Prior to Sunday, he had participated in only four races this year, with his last time in the saddle dating back to 2018.

A deep-dive back through the record books shows Barnabas’ last win was on 29 October 2017, when he piloted Roc That to victory in

So, Barnabas must have been over the moon when he won race 2 on the card, posting an eye-catching victory aboard the Sharee Hamilton-trained 12-year-old gelding, Elusive Emperor.

If you’re wondering where you’ve heard the name Barnabas before, those with a keen racing memory might recall the time when Barnabas rode his first Kranji winner in 2014.

On that occasion, he partnered with a particular John O’Hara-trained debutant named Spalato, and together, they secured a dominating 9.8-length victory in an Initiation race.
