Race Preview

R1 – PRIX DU CONSEIL MUNICIPAL DE LA VILLE DE DAX – 2100m (a1 5/16m) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 17.000

1. SPANISH LIGHT – Finished 3rd over 2300m at this course last time out and he could have
more to offer but won’t find it easy. Place chance
2. ESPINACO – Ran 6th when upped in trip to 2200m but that didn’t seem to make much of a
difference to his form. Needs to improve
3. ALWAYS ON TIME – Finished 7th on debut over 1400m and now steps up in trip but needs to
make huge improvement to get involved. Others preferred
4. SAN FELIPE – Finished 6th on debut over 2400m and now drops in trip which could suit as he
may not be strong enough for that stretch just yet. Expect good improvement
5. CALEDONIA – Beaten out of sight on debut when back in 7th position over 1400m and
requires huge improvement. Would be a shock winner
6. MNESARETE – Ran 2nd over 1700m over in Spain and if taking to the conditions in her debut
effort in France then she’ll be a player. Warrants an inclusion
7. THE PLANETS – Her last run is best ignored after finishing 10th and the drop in trip could just
be the key to her chances. Each way claims
8. MINEKO – She has finished 7th in her first two runs over in the UK and could make decent
improvement in her new surroundings. Follow
9. VERSION COX – She ran a solid 3rd last time out over 2200m and is in some decent form so
would be deserving of a win. Each way chance
10. SAFO DE MITILENE – Dam won twice over in Spain from 1400m – 1600m. Newcomer that
could do with some racing experience. Others preferred
11. SUCCUBA – Dam was unraced but this filly wouldn’t need to be anything special to win on
debut. Follow the market carefully
12. DEESSE FREYJA – Dam won once over 2000m on debut but failed to do anything after that.
Follow in the market
13. SCISSOR BLUE – Dam raced once without any success but this newcomer could be one to
keep an eye on. Respect if market speaks volume

Summary : In a wide open affair, a chance is taken on THE PLANETS (7) who is better than her
latest effort and should show up in this contest with the drop back in trip in her favor. SAN
FELIPE (4) should be on the premises after his debut performance. VERSION COX (9) has the
right type of form to win a race of this nature. SUCCUBA (11) could be anything on debut and
warrants the utmost respect.

SELECTIONS
THE PLANETS (7) – SAN FELIPE (4) – VERSION COX (9) – SUCCUBA (11)

R2 – PRIX R.J. LAVIELLE – 1200m (a6f) – TURF – Claiming – Flat – EUR € 12.500

1. SCAR CHOPE – Finished 8th last time out and she doesn’t seem to be putting it all in after her
maiden success on debut. Include in the mix
2. GEE WHIZZER – Not in the greatest of form at present and she needs to start improving to
keep her fans interested. Hard to fancy
3. RECONNECT – Only victory to date has come over track and trip which bodes well for this
individual and she can get back to winning ways. Big runner
4. GOLDEN STATE – Not seen at his best last time out when finishing 7th but can bounce back
to his previous form to go well. Include in all bets
5. STAR PAREILLE – Well held back in 4th last time out over 1600m but back down to the trip
she won over on debut could spark some life back into her. Each way chance
6. MA GRISE – Maiden from eight outings that needs to do slightly more to win but should
definitely be involved for the minor positions. Place chance
7. PRETTY BERRY – Finished 5th on debut over 1100m and she has scope for improvement so
not one to ignore. Can outrun her odds
8. LOLITA’S PLAN – She has had three starts in Spain, finishing in the money all on three
occasions but needs to improve a bit. Others preferred
9. AURORE BOREALE – She is currently not doing a lot to keep followers interested and
something needs to change before it’s to late. Hard to recommend

Summary : GOLDEN STATE (4) is on the radar and worth another chance to prove himself
especially against this bunch. RECONNECT (3) is a course and distance winner that demands
healthy respect and should go close. MA GRISE (6) is held on form but wouldn’t be without a
shout at getting involved for the places. SCAR CHOPE (1) needs to improve but could do so in
this field.

SELECTIONS
GOLDEN STATE (4) – RECONNECT (3) – MA GRISE (6) – SCAR CHOPE (1)

R3 – GRAND HANDICAP DE BIARRITZ-ASSOCIATION DES PROPRIETAIRES DU SUD-OUEST – 3000m (a1 7/8m) – TURF – Handicap – Class 3 – Flat – EUR € 19.000

1. PARABAK – Has bits and pieces of form but could just struggle to win a race of this nature. He
has places claims
2. KALINQA – Inconsistent type that has not been seen at her best of late and would need to
show something more positive to inspire confidence. Others preferred
3. VARIJOUN – Has finished 4th in his last two starts and he could be one to include for the minor
positions. Place chance
4. HIGH HOPE – Winner over the trip four starts back but has gone backwards since which is a
huge negative. Capable of an upset
5. MONT STEELE – Won a nice race last time out over the trip and with his confidence back, he
can follow up. Leading claims
6. COBRECES – He doesn’t seem to be in the greatest space at the moment and his poor efforts
don’t seem likely to change anytime soon. Hard to fancy
7. THE MAGIC MAN – Without a win this year but has equipped himself with a bit of credit here
and there. Can get involved
8. DOWN TOWN – She is holding her form very well at the moment and now steps up to 3000m
for the very first time which could be ideal. Winning chance
9. CAPARICA – Won over this trip earlier in the year but hasn’t been able to reproduce that form
ever since. More is needed from her
10. NOLIVER – Consistent without winning but that is could change in this contest after he ran a
very creditable 4th last time out. Winning claims
11. OLANA – Winner over 2600m last time out but more is required of her in this event if she
were to follow up. Possible inclusion at a price
12. CAMARINES – Very difficult to suggest this runner on recent efforts and he needs a
turnaround in his form to be competitive. Others inspire more confidence
13. PLATEADO – He is in very good form barring his last run and this trip shouldn’t hold any fears
for his followers. Big runner
14. GLOBAL FASHION – Her three starts this year haven’t given us much confidence and she
needs to start showing a better side of herself. Would be a surprise winner

Summary : DOWN TOWN (8) is running well and should be on the premises once again.
PLATEADO (13) should put in a solid performance and make his presence felt in a big way.
NOLIVER (10) looks set to give a good account of himself and will be hoping to get his head
Infront here. MONT STEELE (5) could offer some nice value in this contest after he won his last
start and could easily go in again.

SELECTIONS
DOWN TOWN (8) – PLATEADO (13) – NOLIVER (10) – MONT STEELE (5)

R4 – PRIX DES AIGLES – 1600m (a1m) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 34.000

1. ELBAZ – Highly regarded and well-related colt who lived up to the hype with an impressive
winning debut. Follow
2. METROPOLITAN – Displayed a good turn of foot when winning on debut at Deauville over
1600m and would’ve come on since
3. STANGHELI – Ran to a good level of form and consistency in his first two starts before winning
under Bauyrzhan Murzabayev last time. Rider retains confidence
4. GO LIKE THE WIND – Open to improvement after a pleasing introduction (6th) but will need to
have improved markedly to trouble the principals here. Place chance
5. ROYAL MANSOUR – Made no impression when finishing unplaced on debut and, though open
to improvement, is best watched for now

Summary : Well-bred ELBAZ (1), who is related to Ervedya, is an exciting prospect with a Group
I Jean-Luc Lagardère entry. Even so, he was most impressive when quickening in the manner of
a smart sort to make a winning on debut and it could pay to follow his progress. He may,
however, need to have improved with fellow first-start scorer METROPOLITAN (2) likely to have
done so and capable of fighting for victory. STANGHELI (3) has the form and experience stake a
claim, ahead of GO LIKE THE WIND (4) who can only hope for those principals to falter.

SELECTIONS
ELBAZ (1) – METROPOLITAN (2) – STANGHELI (3) – GO LIKE THE WIND (4)

R5 – PRIX DE LA LORIE – 1600m (a1m) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 34.000

1. LALA LIGHT – Showed a professional attitude when a gutsy winner of her debut and could
confirm that promise with any improvement. Keep safe
2. ROSE BLOOM – Was held up for a run before quickening well to win on debut in a lucrative
sales race. Should have more to offer
3. MINOUSHKA – An easy winner on debut before only managing to finish 7th in a Group III
next/last time. Not taken lightly with scope to improve
4. DANCE SIOUX – Consistent for the most part and has sound form references, though more of
a place chance than a winning one
5. ALAKAI – Finished an encouraging 4th on debut and looks the type to improve with that
experience. Makes obvious appeal
6. GRIGNA DEL NORD – Would have gained plenty from the experience of her debut (7th) but is
best watched for now. For another day

Summary : ROSE BLOOM (2) landed a coveted prize when quickening well to win on debut and,
with any improvement, ought to confirm the promise of that outing by remaining undefeated.
LALA LIGHT (1) fits a similar profile though, having also made a winning debut, and will pose a
threat bidding to keep her 100% record intact. ALAKAI (5) would have gained plenty from her
introduction and should have more to offer, while MINOUSHKA (3) is likely to fare better here
eased in grade after contesting a Group III last time.

SELECTIONS
ROSE BLOOM (2) – LALA LIGHT (1) – ALAKAI (5) – MINOUSHKA (3)

R6 – PRIX DE L’HEMICYCLE – 1100m (a5 1/2f) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 27.000

1. IMPITOYABLE – Proven at this track and boasts a course victory to his name. Showed his
form and well-being last time (2nd) at La Teste
2. BLUERIDGE SILVER – Unreliable sort although not incapable of getting into the picture. Hard
to trust but as hard to rule out
3. TOLLARD ROYAL – Undeniably capable judged on his best form/references but has gone off
the boil so must reaffirm. Watch for now
4. TUDO BEM – Well-performed 10-time winner boasting five victories on this Chantilly straight.
Will have a role to play
5. GORDINI ROAD – Finished a modest 7th on debut and is open to improvement with the benefit
of that experience. For another day
6. BOLCHOI – Lightly raced sort who is relatively unexposed and open to improvement. Either 1st
or 2nd in six of eight starts and should have more to offer with improved fitness on his side after a
comeback 4th
7. LIVE – Changed hands after winning a claiming race at Deauville last month. One to note now
in the care of Vaclav Luka
8. MUBAALEGH – Inconsistent though does have the means to play a role in a race of this
nature, so not taken lightly

Summary : A specialist performer on straight courses, TUDO BEM (4) has achieved half of his
10 career wins along this particular track so, given his aptitude for this Chantilly layout, rates the
one to beat, BOLCHOI (6) is, however, likely to fight for victory with improvement expected of
this unexposed/lightly raced sort after an encouraging reappearance (4th). IMPITOYABLE (1),
runner-up in his most recent start, should make his presence felt if confirming that improvement,
while LIVE (7), now with Vaclav Luka, is not incapable of having a say either.

SELECTIONS
TUDO BEM (4) – BOLCHOI (6) – IMPITOYABLE (1) – LIVE (7)

R7 – PRIX DU CANAL DES MORFONDUS – 1900m (a1 3/16m) – ALL WEATHER – Divised Handicap – Class 3 – Flat – EUR € 21.000

1. KINGDOM – Consistent for the most part and only recently joined the stable of Vincent Sartori.
Can get into the picture despite a wide draw
2. CAPTAIN DE CERISY – Did not go unnoticed when finishing 7th last time and is likely to
improve for that outing. Can have a say
3. LUCI DEL FARO – Returned to form with a win at Deauville last month but faces a tough task
confirming that form from the widest starting stall
4. FORZA SEDACA – Inconsistent but capable last-start winner. Has more to do under these
conditions but rider’s 1,5kg allowance does help
5. RONALDO – Finished a reassuring 5th at Deauville last time and should be competitive here if
confirming that improvement
6. CREATIVE – Out of sorts but could fare better at this value and from her low number in the
starting stalls. Dark horse
7. HENOUVILLE – Capable but unreliable mare struggling to maintain form/consistency. Hard to
trust but is as hard to rule out
8. TINETTE – Confirmed recent improvement when 2nd last time, following consecutive 3rd place
finishes. Has a role to play
9. FROSTY BAY – Was a winner five starts back but has struggled in his four subsequent
outings. Capable but is out of sorts
10. COGOLIN – Consistent performer who showed his form and well-being at Deauville recently
(3rd). Should be a factor with Mickaël Barzalona aboard
11. WELCOME MOON – Winner at this course in July and proved that he remains competitive
when finishing 2nd next/last time at Clairefontaine. Keep safe
12. ON Y VA – Non Runner
13. LEXINGTON FORCE – Unreliable but seldom finishes far off the mark on a going day. Hard to
trust but is as hard to rule out
14. ISHRAQ – Has shown signs of improvement in his recent outing so could get a look in here if
confirming that form. Outsider
15. OSER – Has been struggling to regain her form or spark any improvement for some time now
so is unlikely to trouble the judge
16. KILIA – Undeniably capable but appears to have gone off the boil in her last 4 outings so
needs to reaffirm
17. BLEUSKY – Nothing noteworthy to her name for a considerable period now so can be easily
ruled out. Others preferred

Summary : Having turned in another consistent effort to finish 3rd at Deauville last time,
COGOLIN (10) ought to gain his reward sooner rather than later and it could pay to side with him
here with Mickaël Barzalona engaged. TINETTE (8) arrives in good order and is likely to pose a
threat, though. Last-start winner WELCOME MOON (11), despite his 2,5kg penalty, should
remain competitive. RONALDO (5), who finished an improved 5th last time, and LUCI DEL FARO
(3), after a recent victory, complete the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
COGOLIN (10) – TINETTE (8) – WELCOME MOON (11) – RONALDO (5)

R8 – L’EXPRESS – 800m (a4f) – TURF – Claiming – Class 3 – Flat – EUR € 23.000

1. KOUTSOUNAKOS – Runner-up in the 2020 renewal of this event. Showed his form and wellbeing when winning at La Teste last time, should remain competitive
2. DRISH VENTURE – Finished 2nd in a Listed race in his first start on French soil. Ought to be
competitive eased in class
3. DROIT DE PAROLE – Did not go unnoticed when finishing 7th in the Quinté+ of 29 August at
Dieppe. Not discounted over this distance
4. AMAZON PRINCE – Blotted his copybook when finishing unplaced in a Quinte+ at Dieppe last
month but is capable of redeeming himself here
5. TALLINSKI – Unreliable though has improved and not gone unnoticed in his last three outings.
Not one to take lightly
6. TATSTHEWAYTODOIT – Won this race 12 months ago and would’ve been wound up for this
title defence with a good comeback run (5th) at Baden-Baden. Can repeat
7. SHELBYLANDOR – Was a winner four starts back but her form figures prove she has gone the
wrong in each outing since
8. ILLUMINATING – An unreliable sort although is not incapable of getting into the picture in a
race of this nature. Dark horse
9. NOM DE PLUME – Has nothing noteworthy to his name to warrant consideration and is easy to
rule out. Others make more appeal
10. GAMGOOM – Inconsistent but capable veteran who has finished in the top three in all 10
starts over distances less than 1000m
11. SNEAKY – Unreliable but seldom finishes far off the mark on a going day. Hard to trust but is
as hard to rule out
12. TATIHOU – Has been struggling for some time now and is unlikely to trouble the judge on
what she has shown to this point. Overlook

Summary : TATSTHEWAYTODOIT (6) won this race last year and is likely to make a bold
defence of his title. He is preferred ahead of free-striding frontrunner GAMGOOM (10) who is
usually a force to be reckoned with in this grade. Another returnee likely to make his presence felt
is last-start winner KOUTSOUNAKOS (1) who will benefit from his rider’s allowance. RIGHT TO
SPEECH (3) has the pace to also be competitive over this distance.

SELECTIONS
TATSTHEWAYTODOIT (6) – GAMGOOM (10) – KOUTSOUNAKOS (1) – DROIT DE PAROLE
(3)
