HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 03.09.2023, Race 1, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R100,000, 12:40GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Many first timers so keep an eye on the betting. However, THE SHEPERD (9) showed up well in a competitive maiden and if he can build on that he will be difficult to beat. Richard Fourie rides for Peter Muscutt. RUN TO RIO (4) was sent off at long odds last run for Stuart Ferrie but ran a cracker second time out over course and distance. Experience should count in his favour.  MO KING (7) showed some improvement when tried in blinkers over further on the Greyville poly. He can finish closer for Dennis Bosch.  PIETER BOTH (15) raced very green on debut and should come on from that effort.

Selections:

#9 THE SHEPHERD, #4 RUN TO RIO, #7 MO KING, #15 PIETER BOTH

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 03.09.2023, Race 2, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R100,000, 13:15GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Wide open handicap. Wayne Badenhorst saddles PRINCEKRESH (4) who has been making steady improvement and went down narrowly over course and distance last run. Muzi Yeni, currently leading the national jockey log has the ride. Michael Roberts has two live runners in PHILISPIEL (5) and SEA VISTA (7), both winners last time out. Philispiel is over his favourite course and distance and could be the pick of the pair. STANLEY PARK (3) made the required improvement when racing in first time blinkers and Garth Puller has engaged useful 4kg claimer James Lihaba to nullify the four-point rise in the handicap.

Selections:

#4 PRINCEKRESH, #5 PHILISPIEL, #3 STANLEY PARK, #7 SEA VISTA

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 03.09.2023, Race 3, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R100,000, 13:50GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: The Dean Kannemeyer gelding MASTER FUEGO (8) caught the eye on debut went staying on strongly over a sprint. This trip should be more to his liking although he has a tricky draw. KUMEMORI (2) made marked improvement when stretched to a mile on this course last time out. He was second best behind the strong favourite Aberdeen but should follow up with another good effort from another favourable draw. The combination of Muzi Yeni and Alyson Wright has been in good form and the combine with EL DRAQUE (6). He is a lightly raced four-year-old with fairly consistent form and the step up in trip could suit. UBISIKA (12) has a tough draw but was in need of his last run. He steps up in trip and could surprise.

Selections:

#8 MASTER FUEGO, #2 KUMEMORI, #6 EL DRAQUE, #12 UBISIKA

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 03.09.2023, Race 4, Gallops, 1750m, Turf, R100,000, 14:25GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary:  Mike Miller looks to have a strangle hold on this race. NINETY NINE HEROS (7) was a close-up second to stable companion Ancient World over course and distance, followed by stable companion BILLY OF TEA (10). There shouldn’t be much between these two. Tienie Prinsloo sends out SUGAR BLAST (1) who has some useful sprint form. However, he takes a big jump in trip but if he stays he could upset. The balance are a pretty modest bunch.

Selections:

#7 NINETY NINE HEROS, #10 BILLY OF TEA, #1 SUGAR BLAST, #8 U KING

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 03.09.2023, Race 5, Gallops, 1750m, Turf, R100,000, 15:00GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: AQUAE SULIS (11) has been up against stronger at recent outings and goes well this course and distance. Duncan Howells has engaged 4kg claimer James Lihaba and a drop in rating, drop in class and a claim could see her home. BLAZING KISS (2) has finished behind RECKLESS LOVE (10) the last three times they have met. However, Gareth van Zyl’s filly has been creeping closer and with a 2kg turn around in the weights could finally put one over her rival. Reckless Love has come well for Wendy Whitehead but got a six-point rise in the handicap last start and the handicappers may now have caught up. AFRICAN BEAT (1) has the best of the draw and only once out of the placings for Mike Miller. She should be right there again.

Selections:

#11 AQUAE SULIS, #2 BLAZING KISS, #1 AFRICAN BEAT, #10 RECKLESS LOVE

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 03.09.2023, Race 6, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R100,000, 15:35GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: This looks to be a straight fight between BOMBER GIRL (4) and AMERICAN GRAFFITI (3) with AISLING (1) also in the mix. Sean Tarry saddles American Graffiti whose last run was in the Gr2 Denutante Stakes. Prior to that she had finished ahead of Bomber Girl in the soft at Greyville. Tarry’s filly is in receipt of 2.5kg from her rival which could be enough to seal the deal. However, Kom Naidoo saddles Aisling (1) who has been racing in strong feature company of late with little success. However, she takes a drop in class and a an eight-point drop in the handicap which could see her home at lengthy odds. HARLEY’S FATE (2) has been consistent on the poly and with only 52.5kg to shoulder she should also be competitive.

Selections:

#3 AMERICAN GRAFFITI, #4 BOMBER GIRL, #1 AISLING, #2 HARLEY’S FATE

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 03.09.2023, Race 7, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R100,000, 16:10GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Alyson Wright appears to have picked the right race for SEEKING THE STARS (12) to get back into the winner’s circle. His last two races have been in Gr1 company where he has not finished far back. He ran a cracker in the Gr1 Golden Horse Sprint with a big weight and a repeat of that effort should see him home. However, there are a number of in form rivals. CAPTAIN BOMBSHELL (4) has put in two useful efforts for his new stable, both at Greyville, be he is relatively well in at the weights. BEECHAMWOOD BOY (9) is out at the weights but his last two wins have been over course and distance and he has taken a new lease on life for Wendy Whitehead.  PRAY FOR RAIN (7) has run to cracking races for his new stable but he was just holding on over shorter last time out and the extra furlong could find him out in this company.

Selections:

#12 SEEKING THE STARS, #4 CAPTAIN BOMBSHELL, #9 BEECHAMWOOD BOY, #7 PRAY FOR RAIN

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 03.09.2023, Race 8, Gallops, 1950m, Turf, R100,000, 16:45GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: PAPA C (4) was touched off in a tight finish last run which was a major improvement on his previous effort. He stays well so the extra furlong will suit and the 4kg claimer stays aboard. KASHKAVAL (1) took on much stronger last run from a tricky draw for Yogas Govender and was not far back. He takes a big drop in class from the best of the draw. Stable companion BAYVIEW EXPRESS (11) was a beaten favourite last run on the poly. He switches back to turf and S’Manga Khumalo stays aboard. Derryl Daniels puts up 1kg over weight on WINTER ROYALE (3) but he was right up there with Papa C last time out and has s strong chance.

Selections:

#4 PAPA C, #1 KASHKAVAL, #11 BAYVIEW EXPRESS, #3 WINTER ROYALE

Best Win: #12 SEEKING THE STARS

Best Value Bet: #11 AQUAE SULIS

Best Longshot: #1 SUGAR BLAST
