Korea Racing Seoul Preview – 2 September

Seoul Race 4: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 25 Million

A very modest maiden. We’ll need to draw a line through his latest but (1) KING GO TAEYANG is probably the one to beat here. Last time out he drew the widest gate and while he used up plenty to get to a forward position, he didn’t have much left over 1300M. He comes into a much better gate today and going on his 2^nd place at this distance two starts back, he has every chance. (5) MUNHAK CENTRAL has picked up a bit in her latest couple of appearances. She has run fair times and shouldn’t be far away here. (12) NAOL ROONEY has finished 4^th in all three of her outings so far. She may need a touch of luck from the widest gate but if she can get on or close to the speed, she should be in this a long way.  (4) MISTER STAR and (7) NEMO SPIRIT others in the placing frame.

Seoul Race 5: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 25 Million

Fillies only in this maiden and it is wide open. (4) CLASS HEEMANG has raced just the twice and there was more than a year between them. She ran well on her return on August 6^th, sitting at the back of the field from a wide draw before running on well for 4^th. She should strip fitter for that run and Moon Se-young climbing on will tempt plenty. (7) VELVETY has shown steady improvement across four starts so far with a 4^th and a 3^rd from her latest two, most recently at this distance on August 6^th when she settled midfield and ran on. She draws nicely today to sit on pace or handy and with a bit more progression, she can win. (5) WONDERFUL FOX has been very consistent with five finishes between 3^rd and 5^th. She likes to settle back and has a good finish on her, and she should be aiming for a career best placing here. (1) MENI CHARM and (3) MENI SHARK the other placing chances.

Seoul Race 6: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 25 Million

(5) MIGHTY TAP debuted indifferently last autumn and then wasn’t seen for eight months. He trialled nondescriptly in July but put in a more than decent effort on his racing return on August 6^th, settling back and then running on for 5^th over 1200M. He should have derived plenty of benefit from that run, the step up in trip can suit, and in this modest company, he can win. (2) HEY MAMA comes in off a career best 3^rd place over 1300M on August 5^th when handy throughout. There isn’t much early speed her so from a good gate, she should get and easy run to the lead and she should be looking to get another best ever finish. An inside draw should also benefit (1) TRES VITE. He led over this distance on August 6^th, ultimately finishing 5^th and should be in it a little longer this time around. The form tails off after those three with (3) POWER ETCHED and (7) HAENGBOKAN BEOMI perhaps ones who can step up.

Seoul Race 7: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

Finally a race that isn’t a maiden. (2) TRAUM KING registered his first career win on August 5^th when overcoming gate eleven to sit handy and then run on well over 1200M. He comes up in class here but is down in the weights and comes into a much better gate. He looks to have potential for plenty of improvement still and he can win again here. (10) MIGHTY SSEN returned from a nine-month absence to get his maiden win over 1200M on the same day as Traum King. He too overcame a wide draw to sit handy and run on and while he faces the challenge of gate ten here, he too should be more than capable of fitting in at this class. (6) LOVE COWGIRL was a winner on debut in May, making all. She has since put in a 4^th and a 3^rd in two tries at this class and from an on-pace position, she should be going close again. (1) STUNNING LADY and (11) GOOD CABO others in the hunt.

Seoul Race 8: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(5) BULGOM MADRE was a very smart winner over this distance at class 5 level back in January but then suffered a setback that kept her out until July. She ran pleasingly on her return for 4^th place at this class and distance in a good time, having started slowly and settled back. She should strip fitter for that run, and she can return to winning ways here. (2) SPECIALTIME is two for two and is rapidly up in class, most recently leading all the way to narrowly score over 1300M. This is a sterner test, but she draws very nicely, she carries a very light weight, and she couple well maintain that 100% record here. (7) AMAZON KING enters off a strong 3^rd place at class and distance on August 6^th. He comes up 3kg in the weights as a result, but he should be in the mix again. (6) NAOL CHEONJI and (1) TUHON TEUKGEUP others in the minor money frame.

Seoul Race 9: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

(4) ZIGGURAT ran 2^nd in both his first two appearances, both in rich juvenile maidens over 1000M in decent times and on both occasions doing his best work late on. Ostensibly he comes up in class here, but the opposition isn’t any stronger, he comes down significantly in the weights, and the additional furlong should suit him. (1) KARIZMA is similarly up in class following back-to-back runner-up finishes, in his case over 1200M and 1300M. He too is down 3kg in the weights, he draws well, and he can be a danger. (9) WONDERFUL SHADOW has plenty of experience at this class and enters with recent form reading consistently well. She has a 2^nd and a 3^rd from her latest two, both times racing on pace and while she draws a touch wider than ideal, she should have enough about her to get forward again and can be in this a long way. (3) FEDERAL KING and (6) HWANGWOO GANGJA others in the hunt.

Seoul Race 10: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million 

Wide open finale. Several of these raced each other at class and distance on August 6^th and we’ll give another chance to that day’s favourite (7) ANOTHER LEVEL. At the start before she made all over 1700M and her form had been consistent. While she was beaten by a couple of these when 4^th in that August race, she can go better this time. (1) BERRING MAN came home in 2^nd place in the August 6^th race, settling midfield and running on well. He comes up 3kg as a result but should be firmly in the mix again. Between Another Leve and Berring Man in that race was (6) SUPER ECTON, who sat handy throughout and can put in a similar run here. Turning away from that August 6^th race, (3) AKDONG ARGO was a good winner at this class over 1200M last time out and while significantly up in trip, could be a danger. (8) BODY STAR another who can enter the calculations.
