Race Preview

R1 – PRIX ZETURF (PRIX NORTH JET) – 1800m (a1 1/8m) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 34.000

1. MARSELAN – Debut winner who confirmed that promise by finishing 3rd last time. Has been
supplemented to run here so warrants respect
2. HASHTAG JOA – Consistent filly with solid form references. Finished 2nd in a strong race at
this venue two starts back and sets the standard on that form
3. GABON – Caught the eye when finishing strongly on debut over 1400m. Ought to improve for
that experience and over this distance
4. SACHA SUNRISE – Finished a pleasing 5th on debut and would have come on appreciably for
that outing. Entrusted to Maxime Guyon, keep safe
5. ZABYAK – Was a well-beaten 7th on debut and, while open to improvement with the benefit of
that experience, is best watched for now
6. MIRAGE DEUX – Taj Mahal colt debuting for trainer Fabrice Vermeulen who has engaged
Eddy Hardouin to ride. Keep an eye
7. GO LIKE THE WIND – Stéphanie Nigge-trained Goken newcomer to be ridden by Rosario
Mangione. Dangerous to discount on debut

Summary : Consistent HASHTAG JOA (2) ought to make her experience count in this opening
event for two-year-olds. However, she faces a stiff test with both MARSELAN (1), who has
revealed potential in the Southwest, and likely improver GABON (3), after a promising 3rd on
debut, both expected to mount a serious challenge. SACHA SUNRISE (4) could also get into the
picture.

SELECTIONS
HASHTAG JOA (2) – MARSELAN (1) – GABON (3) – SACHA SUNRISE (4)

R2 – PRIX GRANDEUR NATURE (PRIX RAMSIN) – 2900m (a1 13/16m) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 28.000

1. LUC SUR MER – Revealed potential when winning on debut and is open to any amount of
improvement with benefit of that experience. Keep safe
2. GUET APENS – By far the highest-rated, thus best-weighted runner, in the field. Should play a
leading role with this distance likely to suit
3. PRESAGE NOCTURNE – Finished 2nd on debut and confirmed that promise with the benefit
of the experience by winning his last/next start. More to come
4. ROUGE – Has won three of her last five starts, including her last two but those were at a lower
level. More to do now
5. SALTWELL – Confirmed her earlier promise by winning last time, having finished 2nd in
consecutive prior outings. Will have more to offer
6. ROSIR – Has seemingly benefitted from the fitting of a tongue-tie, winning once and finishing
2nd twice in her 3 starts with that equipment addition. Beware
7. LISMORE – Maintaining a good level of form and consistency after a winning debut, boasts
solid form references. Respect

Summary : GUET APENS (2) is a clear standout on ratings and should be formidable in his first
attempt over this extended distance. Both SALTWELL (5) and LUC SUR MER (1), however, are
likely to improve after last-start wins so will fight for victory too. LISMORE (7) and ROSIR (6) have
the form and experience to also make their presence felt.

SELECTIONS
GUET APENS (2) – SALTWELL (5) – LUC SUR MER (1) – LISMORE (7)

R3 – PRIX SISSY’S ART ET CREATION (PRIX VOIX DU NORD) – 2200m (a1 3/8m) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 28.000

1. ALISTO KING – Has the form and experience to make his presence felt. Unsuited by an
inadequate trip last time but capable of better here
2. A CANNES – Confirmed the promise of his debut 3rd by improving to win his next/last start and
should have more to offer. Beware
3. QUALIAND – Lightly raced colt that won on the PSF in his first of the year before finishing 4th
when reverting to the turf last time. Outsider
4. L’ACAJOU – Won his first start of the year before finishing 3rd in consecutive recent outings.
Has left André Fabre after changing hands for €75,000
5. HELLES – Inconsistent but not incapable of getting into the picture. Hard to trust but is as hard
to rule out
6. SHMI – Finished 4th in a Listed race and 3rd at Dieppe last time in a race of good quality. Sets
the standard
7. EUBOA – Confirmed the improvement of her previous start by opening her account with a win
at Compiègne last time. More to come

Summary : SHMI (6) is the obvious choice given that her rating is head and shoulders above her
rivals in this conditions race, so she will logically attract the majority of votes. L’ACAJOU (4), now
in the care of Yann Barberot, has always finished in the top three and is likely to give the
selection most to fear, although improving last-start EUBOA (7) is also capable of staking a claim
with further progress not ruled out. ALISTO KING (1) completes the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
SHMI (6) – L’ACAJOU (4) – EUBOA (7) – ALISTO KING (1)

R4 – PRIX CLOTURE DU MEETING CLAIREFONTAINE L’ATHIPPIQUE (PX DE ROBERTET) – 2200m (a1 3/8m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 53.000

1. LIGHTED GLORY – Has been blowing hot and cold since winning back in March. Absent for
two months with no margin in weight, so others are preferred
2. PINGO – Winner of two handicaps already this year but no longer has any room for maneuver.
The state of the ground will suit her, but has yet to race over this trip
3. WILDWOOD – Quinté+ winner absent since her failure on 4 June, but is capable of running
well fresh. Competitive off her current mark/value, has a lot in her favour
4. QUEEN LADY – Has placed four times in seven in Quinté+ outings and will, sooner rather than
later, win a race of this ilk. Presented with freshness here, has sound claims
5. LORNE – Imperious winner on her reappearance and held her own well in the Prix de
Barneville against males. More effective over further but has a winning chance here
6. REVOLTEE – Made an encouraging reappearance in the Prix de la Comédie Française,
against the males, but failed last time on 29 May. Absent since and on an attractive handicap
value, beware
7. CAP SAN ROMAN – Noted on her at Compiègne in May and has been able to shine in
handicaps at this value (37). Goes on all types of terrain
8. LILI BLUE – Veteran mare who held up well (4th) against males recently and appreciates this
distance too, so not taken lightly back in her own sex. Dark horse
9. FAYONA – Has already proven herself at this level but absolutely needs a track that is not too
soft to give of her full potential. Not written off
10. PINK INTELLECTUAL – Took advantage of her reduced mark by winning brilliantly at LyonParilly before experiencing many misfortunes in her last start. Remains capable of fighting for
victory
11. MODERN VALUE – Consistent filly with one victory and ten places from 17 starts. Faces
rivals stronger than usual and is yet to prove herself at this value
12. COSTA EDITA – Showed her form during the month of July, in weaker handicaps, and is
competing in her first Quinté+. For another day
13. LAVIRCA DODVILLE – Proven in claiming races and has won two handicaps but faces the
toughest test of her career here. Others preferred
14. CORDEY ROSE – Dominated in a similar contest back in May before regaining her reputation
next time out, albeit at a lower level. Outsider
15. PAIDEIA – Noted several times when with Eric Libaud and has recently joined Yoann
Bonnefoy. Back from a rest but has the potential to compete well here
16. SUNRAY – Has been blowing hot and cold this year but has dropped significantly in the
weights and enjoys this distance. Lurker

Summary : LORNE (5) has quickly regained her best level after a six-month absence. She
acquitted herself well against male rivals last time and should, despite a tricky No 14 stall, find
this a slightly easier task against only her own sex. Unlucky in her last start, PINK
INTELLECTUAL (10) is likely to lead the opposition in the company of consistent PAIDEIA (15),
who has recently joined Yoann Bonnefoy and is capable of a lot better than her disappointing last
start suggests. Proven Quinte+ performers QUEEN LADY (4) and WILDWOOD (3) can also,
legitimately, aspire to an excellent finishing position. CAP SAN ROMAN (7), who possesses a
serious turn of foot, LILI BLUE (8), despite a No 16 position in the stalls, as well as SUNRAY (16),
dropped in the weights, complete the choice in a typically competitive Quinte+ event.

SELECTIONS
LORNE (5) – PINK INTELLECTUAL (10) – PAIDEIA (15) – QUEEN LADY (4)

R5 – PRIX JUSTE EQUILIBRE AVEC DARTY DEAUVILLE (PRIX DES MAGNOLIAS) – 2200m (a1 3/8m) – TURF – Handicap – Flat – EUR € 25.000

1. ARMENTIERES – Has come to hand recently and is from a stable in very good form.
Favourable entry, as the top-rated runner in the race, she ought to take advantage of
2. KARMINA BELLA – Seldom far off the mark and has not gone unnoticed, often finishing at the
head of beaten rivals. Can get into the picture dropped in the weights
3. LANCILLOTTO – Rewarded for consistency with a last-start victory but will be required to raise
his game to have a say here
4. COOL HEART – Finished a reassuring 2nd last time and should be competitive here if
confirming that improvement
5. EAU DE COLOGNE – Sparked improvement by finishing 3rd last time but needs to build on
that progress to get involved here
6. LEWIS CHOP – Consistent for the most part. Won at Dieppe over 2400m in May and has been
gaining momentum in two subsequent starts
7. ZILRAK – Has been costly to follow recently but wouldn’t be winning out of turn after several
near misses (2nd last time). Contender
8. SCATTERED DREAMS – Has been struggling for some time now so is unlikely to trouble the
judge here. Others are preferred
9. NATHIM – Has nothing noteworthy to his name to warrant consideration here and can be ruled
out. Overlook
10. GOLDYWAY DE SAON – Closely matched on recent form with ZILRAK (7), having finished
behind (3rd) that rival on 4 August. Has a role to play
11. CELEB – Has rediscovered form and consistency recently, proving competitive at this
handicap value. Not one to take lightly
12. MISTER GOKEN – Has looked distinctly ordinary to this point so his chances are limited even
at this level. Ignore
13. PEARL DOCTOR – Capable of getting a look in judged on his best form but misfired (9th) last
time so needs to reaffirm. For another day
14. STELLAR JAY – Nothing noteworthy to her name so is hard to make a case for. Easily ruled
out and others preferred

Summary : Consistent ARMENTIERES (1) is favourably engaged here and ought to take
advantage of it by opening her account. She is, however, likely to be challenged by ZILRAK (7),
who wouldn’t be winning out of turn after close-up finishes in each of his last five starts, and
GOLDYWAY DE SAON (10) on the strength and consistency of his form in the 3 subsequent
starts after his victory at Chantilly. CELEB (11) arrives from the South East with legitimate
ambitions too.

SELECTIONS
ARMENTIERES (1) – ZILRAK (7) – GOLDYWAY DE SAON (10) – CELEB (11)

R6 – PRIX ESPADRILLE DEAUVILLE (PRIX DE GUERNESEY) – 1800m (a1 1/8m) – TURF – Handicap – Flat – EUR € 25.000

1. GUITRY – Consistent and versatile filly in good form and physical condition. Back on the turf
now, can resume winning ways
2. VENES – Won at Amiens on 12 June and has already proven his competitiveness in
subsequent outings. Keep safe
3. SCAT LADY – Won for the first time at the 12th attempt in a minor event at Saint-Jean-deMonts. More on her plate now
4. SNUGGLES – Bounced right back to form with a victory last time but will need to eke out
further improvement to remain competitive here
5. FURI DE LA HOUSSAY – Inconsistent although, judged on the performance of 4th two starts
back, remains capable of staking a claim
6. ZELINA – Finished 3rd over 2200m recently and could have more to offer over this distance.
May well fight for victory
7. SVENYA – Has failed to build on the early promise of her consecutive 4th-place finishes.
Managed only to finish 9th last time, must reaffirm
8. SOUL OF THE NATION – Unreliable sort but is not incapable of getting into the picture in a
race of this nature. Upset potential
9. WINELATO LAUJAC – Inconsistent but not entirely incapable of getting into the picture. Has
only a place chance though
10. LAND OF PARADISE – Gaining momentum with each start this year and improved to finish
2nd on the PSF at Deauville last time. Keep safe
11. BANDASTAR – Inconsistent but not incapable. Need only run to the level of his 4th at this
course on 30 June to have a say
12. PALANZANO – Unreliable but seldom finishes far off the mark on a going day. Hard to trust
but is as hard to rule out
13. OCTOBER CHOPE – Seldom a long way adrift, often finishing at the head of beaten rivals.
Was 4th last time and with any improvement could get a look in here

Summary : GUITRY (1) showed her versatility with another consistent effort on the PSF last time
and if, in similar form here, should fight for success back on the turf. ZELINA (6) was
supplemented to run in this race so is not incapable of running well in her first attempt over this
distance. Runner-up at Dieppe recently, VENES (2) arrives in good order and has claims too.
BANDASTAR (11) and FURI DE LA HOUSSAY (5) come next.

SELECTIONS
GUITRY (1) – ZELINA (6) – VENES (2) – BANDASTAR (11)
