Race Preview

R1 – PRIX USEFUL – 2650m (a1 5/8m) – TURF – Condition Race – Flat – EUR € 20.000

1. INDIANA AULMES – Consistent sort with good form references. Made an encouraging (4th)
reappearance and will be a factor
2. JESUBA – Classy mare maintaining a good level of form and consistency. Runner-up last time,
can go one better
3. JOLLY WAY – Out of sorts and finished unplaced in her only start this year but is undeniably
capable of staking a claim
4. IVRESSE LADY – Still without a win (15 starts) but is seldom far off the mark and benefits from
the rider’s 1,5kg allowance
5. IMPERIALE TRESOR – Unreliable but seldom finishes far off the mark on a going day. Hard to
trust but is as hard to rule out
6. JESSY DU MESNIL – Not at her best in consecutive starts now but is not entirely incapable of
getting into the picture. Beware
7. JANEL DU LEMO – Improving last-start winner whose progress, even in this grade/company, is
dangerous to discount. Dark horse

Summary : A small but competitive field contest this quality opening event from which the winner
is likely to come from either JESUBA (2), who placed at Group I level last year, and INDIANA
AULMES (1) after an excellent comeback (4th) after a lengthy absence. JOLLY WAY (3) has
sufficient means and is also capable of playing a role with improved fitness on her side. Last-start
winner JANEL DU LEMO (7), even at this level, is not without a chance either.

SELECTIONS
JESUBA (2) – INDIANA AULMES (1) – JOLLY WAY (3) – JANEL DU LEMO (7)

R2 – PRIX DES ETOILES – 2650m (a1 5/8m) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 17.000

1. DALMANNDI – Caught the eye on debut (2nd) and is likely to go one better with the benefit of
that experience. Sets the standard
2. ZIBULON – Not disgraced on debut (6th) and did improve to finish 5th in his next/last start. More
needed to feature
3. ROCKABILLY – Has shown enough in his two starts, finishing 4th on both occasions, to warrant
respect/consideration
4. PRINCESS KARA – Made no impression (7th) on debut but ought to improve with the benefit of
that experience. Just watch for now
5. KATHINA – Was an encouraging 3rd on debut and confirmed that promise by finishing 2nd at
her next/last start. Will be a factor
6. SECRET CONTACT – Consistent for the most part and is more experienced than her rivals,
which will stand her in good stead
7. KOREA – Runner-up in two of her four starts, including over this distance in early June. Ought
to be competitive
8. KEND – Norbert Leenders-trained Planteur newcomer who benefits from Maxence Marquette’s
2,5kg allowance

Summary : DALMANNDI (1) revealed serious means when finishing 2nd on debut and with any
improvement ought to open his account. KATHINA (5), who confirmed the promise of her debut 3rd
by finishing 2nd next time, is the obvious danger and should fight for victory. KOREA (7), with the
benefit of track experience, has shown enough to also play a role in the finish. SECRET CONTACT
(6) and ROCKABILLY (3) come next.

SELECTIONS
DALMANNDI (1) – KATHINA (5) – KOREA (7) – SECRET CONTACT (6)

R3 – GRAND PRIX DE CHATEAUBRIANT – 1950m (a1 3/16m) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 22.000

1. LOPAS – Undeniably capable but appears to have gone off the boil in recent outings. WIll need
to reaffirm to have a say
2. ALCARAZ – Consistent performer maintaining a good level of form this year. Proved his
competitiveness by finishing 2nd last time
3. LEANDER – Made no impression on debut but improved for that experience by finishing 5th in
his next/last start. Has more to do
4. QUEST THE MOON – Disappointing on his reappearance (7th) but will do better with improved
fitness on his side. Sets a good standard
5. KHAMMA – Consistent filly with solid form references. Finished 3rd in both starts this year and
this longer distance is likely to serve her interests
6. HANDHY – Unreliable filly, finished unplaced last time but seldom finishes far off the mark on a
going day. Can have a say on her earlier form

Summary : QUEST THE MOON (4) appeared in need of the outing when only managing to finish
7th of nine on his reappearance but will strip fitter now so should fare better. He ought to redeem
himself and take advantage of this opportunity to bounce back to winning ways. Consistent
KHAMMA (5), however, should fight for victory with this longer distance likely to suit. ALCARAZ
(2), in good form and physical condition, as well as HANDHY (6) will keep the principals honest.

SELECTIONS
QUEST THE MOON (4) – KHAMMA (5) – ALCARAZ (2) – HANDHY (6)

R4 – PRIX DE PARISLONGCHAMP – 1950m (a1 3/16m) – TURF – Handicap – Flat – EUR € 20.000

1. FULL COLOUR – Maintaining a good level of form and consistency. Competitive at this value,
will make her presence felt
2. AORAKI – Not beaten far over hurdles and on the flat in her last four starts but has no more than
a place chance
3. GREAT ART – Out of sorts in two starts this year, finishing 9th on both occasions, though could
do better pitched into a handicap for the first time
4. KHANWEILER – Consistent for the most part and, given his form references, makes the trip here
meeting with legitimate ambitions
5. DESPACITO – Was given a six-pound (3kg) penalty for bouncing back to form with a win last
time. Remains competitive
6. STARS AND STRIPES – Finished a reassuring 2nd in his last start and could get a look in here
if confirming that improvement
7. SPRING EVE – Was well beaten in three consecutive outings before winning a minor race at
Mauron last time. Up 1,5kg
8. ALIGHT – Unplaced in each of her three starts this year and is hard to make a case for. Others
make more appeal

Summary : DESPACITO (5) bounced right back from a disappointing previous outing to win last
time and need only run to that level of form, albeit under a 3kg penalty, to win again. Carlos LaffonParias usually raids with success when traveling West and that bodes well for the chances of
KHANWEILER (4). Consistent FULL COLOR (1) has the form and experience to also have a say
in the finish. GREAT ART (3), in his first handicap outing, is not incapable of getting into the picture.

SELECTIONS
DESPACITO (5) – KHANWEILER (4) – FULL COLOUR (1) – GREAT ART (3)

R5 – PRIX GUY RAYNARD – 1950m (a1 3/16m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Class 4 – Flat – EUR € 16.000

1. FIRST DREM – Ran well to finish 3rd at this track back in April and needs only to repeat that
performance to get into the picture
2. CHARLOTTE TAGADA – Hold-up type with a formidable finishing burst. Unreliable but has the
means to stake a claim in a race of this nature
3. FAR MOUNTAIN EMERY – Finished in the leading pair on both of her visits to this track and, on
the evidence of her recent 5th, looks likely to do so again
4. CATALINA – Was a disappointing 8th last time after close-up finishes in two prior outings. Will
need to bounce back
5. BOKEN – Has always finished on the podium in his three starts at this venue and is likely to go
well again. Winning chance
6. LAKE NAIVASHA – Opened her account at the 11th attempt in a claiming race at Mauron last
time. Has a lot more to do now
7. HEY MAN – Unreliable sort but is not entirely incapable of getting into the picture in a race of this
nature. Dark horse
8. IPPLING – Inconsistent of late but is undeniably capable and now much better placed at the
weights/values. Lurker
9. LLOYD – Has continued to blow hot and cold recently but is not without means. Rider’s 2,5kg
allowance will help
10. MILLTOP – Erratic performer over hurdles and made no impression when back on the flat last
time. Others preferred
11. GORMLAITH – Veteran mare doing well. Confirmed at this track and arrives in good form and
physical condition, so not taken lightly

Summary : As was the case earlier, it is probably best to side with those who have proven records
over this course and distance. BOKEN (5) and FAR MOUNTAIN EMERY (3), fall into that category
having never disappointed at this venue, so they’re fancied to play leading roles with FIRST DREM
(1), who is inconsistent, not incapable of joining the fight for victory. GORMLAITH (11) makes is
dangerous at the bottom of the weights and it’d be unwise to discount her chances.

SELECTIONS
BOKEN (5) – FAR MOUNTAIN EMERY (3) – FIRST DREM (1) – GORMLAITH (11)

R6 – PRIX DE SAINT-CLOUD – 1950m (a1 3/16m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Class 3 – Flat – EUR € 20.000

1. KER WELEN – Has never disappointed when racing on this course, so serves as a good base
here. Will be competitive
2. YELLOWBLUE – Won three starts back but has been unconvincing in both subsequent outings.
Others make more appeal
3. WOODWIND DAVIS – Closed off 2022 in good form but is likely to be in need of the outing on
her reappearance. Watch for now
4. ATANASIO – Consistent for the most part, has sufficient means and boasts sound form
references. Not taken lightly
5. BABY GEORGE – Winner two starts back but failed to confirm under a penalty last time (8th).
Too soon to be written off
6. CANNELLO – Resurgent hard-knocker who has won back-to-back recent outings. Not without a
chance in hat-trick bid
7. MARANADO – Returned to form last time (3rd) and possesses a good turn of foot, so is likely to
have a say in the finish if confirming recent improvement
8. VINO BELLO – Struggling to find form or spark any improvement and is unlikely to trouble the
judge. Can be ruled out
9. WHAT A FAIR FOOT – A track specialist with good form and physical condition to count on.
Should again play a leading role
10. MOLINO – Earned an accumulative 9kg after winning three of four starts and was found wanting
off this mark last time. For another day
11. DELTA SPIRIT – Has maintained a fair level of form and consistency for several weeks now,
so cannot be discounted here under a light weight, and his rider’s 2,5kg allowance

Summary : A race difficult to assess and confidently side with any of these runners, most of whom
are track specialists. KER WELEN (1) and WHAT A FAIR FOOT (9), who finished 2nd and 3rd
respectively at this venue last month, could well uphold that form and are preferred ahead of
MARANADO (7) and BABY GEORGE (5), with hat-trick seeking CANNELLO (6) also capable of
playing a leading role.

SELECTIONS
KER WELEN (1) – WHAT A FAIR FOOT (9) – MARANADO (7) – BABY GEORGE (5)

R7 – PX DE LA RECONVERSION D’UN CH.DE COURSE EN CH. D.JUMP(PX DE GLANVILLE) – 1900m (a1 3/16m) – ALL WEATHER – Divised Handicap – Class 3 – Flat – EUR € 21.000

1. CHUBASCO – Comes into this in a good space and ran a decent 4th last time out over this track
and trip. Lively contender
2. JUST A PERFECT DAY – Not seen at his best off late and will need to start improving in order
to land a blow in this contest. Others preferred
3. COGOLIN – Finished 4th over 2100m last time out and now drops in trip which is a slight concern.
Others preferred
4. SECOND TO NONE – Best to ignore his last start and judge him on his penultimate run when
finishing 5th at this venue. Each way chance
5. LUCI DEL FARO – Inconsistent individual that needs to start showing some consistency in her
form to inspire confidence. Place chance
6. VAN HALO – Returned to form with a solid 3rd place finish at his most recent start and looks
primed to run a nice race. Should go well
7. BREMONTIER – His penultimate start was decent when running 3rd but overall form isn’t the
most consistent. Hard to fancy
8. MOUDIR – Two pleasing efforts over track and trip in his last two and could go one better in this.
Big runner
9. SOARING EAGLE – Finished 4th last time out showing that his next win could be around the
corner. Include in all bets
10. VARINKA – Recent form isn’t the most inspiring and will need to start doing more to be
competitve. Improvement required
11. GREEN CURRY – Fair 4th at this venue and even though he has a couple to beat on that run,
he should run well. Worthy of a second look
12. IT’S MAGIC – Last four performances have been very moderate and it would be a surprise to
see him get involved. Hard to recommend
13. SO YOU SAY – Meets the boys and has her work cut out to get involved in proceedings. Would
be a shock winner
14. KING OF TWIST – Hasn’t shown anything to write home about this year and is very hard to
fancy. Would be a shock winner

Summary : MOUDIR (8) is knocking on the door and on the back of two good runs, he should go
close. CHUBASCO (1) has the form to challenge and should be right there. VAN HALO (6) is back
in form and could easily to go close in a race of this nature. SOARING EAGLE (9) ran a much
better race last time out and should be able to confirm that piece of form.

SELECTIONS
MOUDIR (8) – CHUBASCO (1) – VAN HALO (6) – SOARING EAGLE (9)

R8 – PX DE LA RECONVERSION D’UN CH.DE COURSE EN CH. DE HBALL(PX D’ARGENTAN) – 1500m (a7 1/2f) – ALL WEATHER – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 20.000

1. BURGUNDY REGAL – Ran a very pleasing 3rd on debut behind two potentially nice horses and
this race could be his for the taking. One to beat
2. ZABYAK – Well beaten on debut when finishing 7th and would need to make significant
improvement. Others preferred
3. HAUTE GAMME – Has had two runs to date but hasn’t shown anything inspiring and will need
to improve. Hard to fancy
4. MEMORIAL DE PREAUX – Steps up in trip after two moderate efforts and will need to show
more. Would be a surprise winner
5. TREIZIEME – Last of six on debut over 1200m at this venue and the step up in trip could suit.
Place chance
6. LA ROCHETTE – Has had two starts to date and has run fair races but would need to improve
a bit to beat a couple here. Each way chance
7. PRINCE A RIO – Dam won three times in her career but this individual could need with an
educational run. Others preferred
8. DSCHINGIS JADE – Dam was useful winning three times from 1400m – 2000m and this runner
could be decent. Watch the market
9. RELEASE ME – Dam won once over 1800m and it could be an indication that she wants further.
Watch for any support
10. INDIE BRIGHT – Dam was unraced and this filly could be in need of a run or two. Follow the
market for clues
11. BABETTE – Dam was a winner of five races throughout her career and this filly could do with
a few runs under the belt. Others make more appeal

Summary : BURGUNDY REGAL (1) ran a cracker on debut and sets the standard on form from
all the raced runners. DSCHINGIS JADE (8) is a newcomer that deserves respect especially if
there is market support. LA ROCHETTE (6) can improve on what she has produced to date to run
a place. RELEASE ME (9) is a newcomer that needs to be watched carefully in the market but
could need an outing to tighten up.

SELECTIONS
BURGUNDY REGAL (1) – DSCHINGIS JADE (8) – LA ROCHETTE (6) – RELEASE ME (9)
