Hong Kong-bound jockey Andrea Atzeni will arrive with a spring in his step after securing victory in Sunday’s Group One Prix Morny at Deauville Racecourse, France.

Atzeni, who is all set to arrive in Hong Kong next week, guided home the Simon and Ed Crisford-trained Vandeek to score by a short-neck over even-money favourite Ramatuelle in the coveted event staged over 1200m.

“It’s a great way to send it off,” said Atzeni. “You could say that a horse like him has come at the right time or maybe the wrong time, I don’t know. It’s nice to leave on a high.”
