July 22 Selangor Preview by Mark Lydeamore

The inner track (Track Two) will come into operation for the ten-race card this Saturday at Selangor Turf Club commencing at 1.15pm.

The high grade event is the 1275m Supreme C contest (Race 5) and features a number of genuine chances. MALAYSIA CAPTAIN (3) last won on the inner track over 1275m back in March and has maintained solid form since in recent Class 3 races and the booking of inform jockey, Ruzaini Supien is a plus also. LIMITLESS STOUT (2) hasn’t enjoyed the best of luck in two unplaced runs against Class 3 company recently. The 7yo mare has the capacity to bounce back to the form she displayed when posting successive wins back in April and May. Former Australian galloper, XAR (6) will be first up since his two start preparation toward the end of last season which yielded a local debut win over 1200m followed by a half length 2nd. The 4yo finished runner up to open performer Berry Bliss in a recent trial and a forward showing is expected on his resumption to racing. CHONKY POTATO (5) has never missed a place when resuming as he reappears for the first time since New Years Day. The 5yo’s last start was an 1175m victory on the inner track and his five length trial win produced the fastest time for the morning session.

The most anticipated race from a punter’s point of view would be the 1275m division of the Class 4 (Race 4) featuring some inform performers including the return of an up and coming talent which chalked up a winning hat trick towards the end of last year. That talent being referred to is the Charles Leck trained WANTED PAYOUT (7), which created a big impression when posting three wins in a row within the space of a month. It capped off a fruitful seven start campaign for the 4yo as he resumes since December and looks on target for a successful return following his trial here Tuesday week ago. The former Kiwi will be pitted against a couple of progressive types including the locally unbeaten mare, SKYLIGHT (2) which is coming off two all the way wins by comprehensive margins of 3.25L and 5.75L respectively. The 5yo has displayed rapid improvement where she arrived in Malaysia with a resume of five unplaced efforts in Singapore and another win would not surprise despite this being her biggest test to date. Another recent winner, CAVALLA COURT (3) is building a good record locally with two victories this season, including last start when successful over 1250m three weeks ago. Also not to be taken lightly is MYSTERIOUS CAPTAIN (6) which is rising through the grades gradually and is coming off a winning hat trick, culminating in the defeat of subsequent winner Inherit in a Class 4 contest on July 2.
