South Africa Racing – Three for Fourie, a double for Domeyer

On Tuesday’s nine-race card at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, there are five attractive betting propositions for punters to take advantage of, with leading Cape Town riders Richard Fourie (3) and Aldo Domeyer (2) more than likely to deliver the goods for connections and followers of these five to follow.

Gimmethewaltz is the first of the quintet and comes up in Race 2 over 1200m. This well-bred daughter of Gimmethegreelight confirmed the promise of her debut by finishing third over the course and distance under Domeyer last time out and any improvement from Candice Bass-Robinson’s charge should see her shed the maiden tag at the third attempt.

That jockey-trainer combination is likely to strike again in Race 8 with versatile Rafeef filly Fun Zone, who has maintained a good level of form and consistency over a number of distances which deserves to be rewarded.

Fourie is particularly strong in the latter races and his three potential winners could come in the last four races.

Naushon and Hawk Circle have both benefited from having been gelded and they are likely to dominate the finish of Race 6, though the former, who Fourie rides for Vaughan Marshall, is the one to be with as this well-related four-year-old gets weight from his younger rival.

Last-start winner Spirit’s Unite opened his account in open company over 1600m but cuts back in trip to 1200m for the Cape Racing Farm Sale Stakes in Race 7.  However, as the only runner in the nine-horse field to have previously won a race, it could pay to side with Piet Steyn’s son of The United States who will be ridden by Fourie for the first time.

This chestnut two-year-old has improved his form and consistency since he was gelded, so it could pay to his follow progress.

Despite rumours of Fourie and Justin Snaith having parted ways, the in-form jockey retains the ride aboard Future Turn in Race 9, an ultra-competitive Class 3 Stakes over 1600m. This son of Futura has run his best races under this top-class rider – three wins, two seconds, one third, and two fourths from eight outings together – and ought to give another competitive account of himself in an open concluding contest.
Future Turn has won three of his last four starts, finished a close-up third in the other and was victorious in his last two starts over 1600m, including one on the winter track (over the course and distance).

He has gone up nine points in the ratings following those three recent successes but could well be ahead of the handicapper, nonetheless. He is progressive, drawn well in gate No 6 and gets on well with his rider, so Snaith’s charge has all the ingredients for a winning recipe.
