18 June Selangor Racing Preview by Mark Lydeamore

Track Two or the inner track will be utilized for the twelve-race card at Selangor Turf Club this Sunday and the talented but lightly raced performer, THE MAREEBA MANGO (4) makes his long-awaited return to the races when he debuts for the Richard Lines yard in the 1075m Class 3 contest (Race 8). Plagued with injuries during his short career, the 5yo has only started three times locally for two wins and resumes from a seven-month break. However, judging by his nine-length trial win here Wednesday week ago, he looks on track for a successful return. TITAN PEGASUS (8) is another progressive type with a local record of two wins from four starts and is already a proven Class 3 performer. The Foxwedge gelding was placed against the high graders at Ipoh prior to his 1100m victory here on May 7, his first foray into Class 3 company. MALAYSIA CAPTAIN (6) was a winner over this track and distance back in March before receiving no luck last time when posted deep from the wide draw. Promising mare, LIMITLESS STOUT (7) has struck her best form this preparation as she aims for the winning hat trick despite dropping back to the shorter trip.

Also racing in career best form is the American bred mare SIMLONG BEACH (2), who will be targeting four on the bounce in the 1175m Class 5 contest (Race 11). The 5yo has always possessed an abundance of early pace but has really developed into a stronger conveyance with race experience and will be suited again on the inner track where she won last start. MIRACLE CAPTAIN (3) remains a five-start maiden but only finished three lengths when placed 4th behind SIMLONG BEACH (2) in that May 21 event. AUTUMN BLITZ (4) took 21 starts to finally break the maiden tag earlier this year and has since added to the tally with 2 wins from 26 runs overall. The 5yo was a beaten favorite here a fortnight ago but is a reliable beginner and should receive an economical run from pole position. DIAMOND SET (6) doesn’t win too often but is rarely far off the mark while NAMBIAR ROCKET (10) is on the eight day back up following his third placing in Penang when resuming.
