Race Preview

R1 – PRIX DU MONT DE PO – 1000m (a5f) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 30.000

1. PARADISIACAL – Runner-up at this track on debut and with natural improvement should go one
better. One to beat
2. DANCE SIOUX – Finished an encouraging 3rd on debut at Chantilly and should have a say in
the finish if making the expected improvement. Danger
3. BOTTOMS UP – Well-beaten by PARADISIACAL (1) when finishing 7th of 9 on debut at Chantilly.
Must improve
4. EMPLOY – Well-bred Caravaggio debutante who, on pedigree, could play a leading role on debit.
Keep safe
5. SALALAH – Nicolas Caullery-trained Olympic Glory newcomer out of a Group-placed mare.
Could have a say

Summary : PARADISIACAL (1) caught the eye when finishing 2nd on debut at this track so ought
to open her account with any improvement. DANCE SIOUX (2) also made an encouraging
introduction at Chantilly and should improve on her debut 3rd to fight for victory. Well-related
Caravaggio debutante EMPLOY (4) is another to consider and could run a forward race on debut,
especially if the market speaks in her favour.

SELECTIONS
PARADISIACAL (1) – DANCE SIOUX (2) – EMPLOY (4) – SALALAH (5)

R2 – PRIX TEXANITA – 1200m (a6f) – TURF – Group 3 – Group – Flat – EUR € 80.000

1. WODAO – Smart sprinter with solid form credentials. Finished runner-up in a Group III on his
French debut and should go close again
2. DENVER CHOP – Finished a reassuring 4th behind WODAO (1) in a Group III last time and can
get into the picture here if confirming that improvement
3. LOVA – Unreliable but capable filly who could get a look in here on her best form. Dark horse
4. BELIEVING – Talented filly who has been successful in English sprints. Makes her debut on
French soil with legitimate ambitions
5. ZUDU SPIRIT – Ultra-consistent Zoustar filly who has the form and experience to play a leading
role. Keep safe
6. MOON RAY – Capable sort who showed promise last year. Fluffhed her lines last time returning
from a layoff but is better than that run suggest
7. SHALROMY – Won on her reappearance before finishing 5th in a Group III last time. Has not
run over this trip and is yet to win on the turf, but has claims nonetheless

Summary : This Group III sprint could go the way of Irish raider WODAO (1) who finished 2nd at
this level in his first start on French soil and has solid form references to his name. Donnacha
O’Brien’s charge will, however, have to thwart British filly BELIEVING (4) who showed her class
and versatility by winning a Listed race on the PSF last time. SHALROMY (7) has also won a Listed
race but has proven most effective on the fibresand. ZUDU SPIRIT (5) appeals most of the
remainder.

SELECTIONS
WODAO (1) – BELIEVING (4) – SHALROMY (7) – ZUDU SPIRIT (5)

R3 – PRIX DE MORANCY – 1400m (a7f) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 28.000

1. BRAVAIS – Highly rated Frankel colt with big-race entries. Delivered the goods on debut and it
could pay to follow his progress
2. EVERYTHING COUNTS – Finished 7th on his reappearance after winning on debut last year.
Would’ve tightened up after that comeback run so should have more to offer
3. ROYAL SHAKE – Well-beaten 5th of five in a Group III contest on his seasonal reappearance
after a promising juvenile campaign. Capable of better with improved fitness on his side
4. NEVERSAY – Looked an exciting prospect last season and finished 3rd in a Listed race when
last seen. Absent since July but could have even more to offer
5. ZOOM – Improving last-start winner who has not been seen since opening his account in October.
Open to improvement
6. SIVKA BURKA – Siyouni with consistent form references but will need to take a big step forward
to have a say pitched into this grade/company. Outsider

Summary : Frankel colt, and Group I Grand Prix de Paris entry, BRAVAIS (1) lived up to the hype
by making a winning debut at Fontainebleau and with any improvement should remain unbeaten
before going on to bigger and better things. Exciting NEVERSAY (4) is unexposed and has been
absent since finishing 3rd in a Listed race at Deauville last July but may have improved over the
winter, so must be respected on his belated reappearance. Improving last-start winner ZOOM (5)
fits a similar profile and cannot be discounted on his return to action either. Good race!

SELECTIONS
BRAVAIS (1) – NEVERSAY (4) – ZOOM (5) – EVERYTHING COUNTS (2)

R4 – PRIX DE LA CHAPELLE-EN-SERVAL – 2000m (a1 1/4m) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 28.000

1. OTTERY – Consistent filly with sold form credentials. Eased in grade after finishing 5th at Group
III level in her last start
2. YOROKOBI – Showed promise when finishing 2nd on debut and is likely to improve with the
benefit of that experience. Dark horse
3. TASMANIA – Group I Prix de Diane entry who made a winning reappearance last month and
looks the type to keep on improving. Include
4. KHARANOVKA – Overcame her inexperience when winning on debut and would have gained
plenty from that experience. Keep safe
5. ELZORA – Looked a bright prospect when winning impressively on debut at ParisLongchamp.
Follow until beaten

Summary : What this race lacks in quantity is compensated for with a great deal of quality, as it
features potential Group I Prix de Diane candidates in the lineup. ELZORA (5) was a most
impressive winner on debut and her progress could be worth following. She will need to improve
with the benefit of that experience to thwart the challenges of highly regarded last-start winners
TASMANIA (3), who won on her reappearance, and fellow debut scorer KHARANOVKA (4) with
Christophe Soumillon aboard. OTTERY (1) finished a creditable 5th at Group III level last month,
so is also worth a mention and must be respected eased in grade.

SELECTIONS
ELZORA (5) – TASMANIA (3) – KHARANOVKA (4) – OTTERY (1)

R5 – PRIX DE LA BERLINE DU DUC BOURBON – 2400m (a1 1/2m) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 27.000

1. DJERBANNI – Has finished 3rd in each of his 3 starts, including over this distance last time when
fitted with blinkers (retained). Will be a factor again
2. ZARIR – Not given a hard time when finishing 8th on debut but is likely to have come on
appreciably for that outing. Improvement expected
3. SHALKHAR – Finished an encouraging 3rd on debut and would have gained plenty from that
experience, so could have a say here
4. BARBATE – Was 3rd on debut and confirmed that promise by finishing in that position again last
time. Step up in trip should suit
5. ARCACHON – Has shown little to get excited about on the flat and over hurdles last time, so is
hard to make a case for. Others preferred
6. MERCI ELIE – Showed signs of improvement with the benefit of experience when finishing 5th
last time after his debut 6th. More needed
7. AXIOME – Consistent colt with solid form credentials. Runner-up in his first 2 starts and 3rd in
consecutive outings recently, should be involved once more

Summary : BARBATE (4) confirmed the promise of his debut with a staying-on 3rd last time and,
on that occasion, gave the impression that he could have more to offer stepping up in trip.
DJERBANNI (1) has also finished 3rd in each of his starts and holds a Group I Grand Prix de Paris
entry too. He should be up for the fight, along with AXIOME (7) who has finished 3rd in consecutive
starts. SHALKHAR (3), coincidentally, also finished 3rd last time when on debut, so could have a
say if making natural improvement.

SELECTIONS
BARBATE (4) – DJERBANNI (1) – AXIOME (7) – SHALKHAR (3)

R6 – PRIX DE LA CALECHE DES IMPERATRICES – 2400m (a1 1/2m) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 27.000

1. SERENITI – Finished an encouraging 4th on debut but failed to confirm that promise when only
7th on her reappearance. Could do better with improved fitness on her side
2. SALTWELL – Showed promise when filling the runners-up berth on debut and, with natural
improvement, is likely to contest the finish
3. DAFNE – Unplaced in both starts this year, on turf and PSF, and was well beaten on each
occasion. Ignore
4. SEA SALINAS – Made good improvement from her debut (7th) to second start (4th) before a
subsequent layoff. Open to further progress on her return
5. AIGRETTE – Improved with the benefit of experience to finish 5th on her reappearance after a
modest debut (8th) last year. Could have more to offer
6. ZENZI – Has shown sufficient means in both outings to stake a claim here, having finished 3rd
last time after pleasing debut 4th
7. ESPERANCE – Showed signs of improvement from run one (7th) to run two (5th) and could get
a look in here if making further progress. Dark horse
8. LADY RANDOLPH – Stayed on to finish 5th on debut over a shorter trip and gave the impression
she’ll have more to offer over this distance. Follow
9. WISE GIRL – Consistent filly with solid credentials. Has the form and experience to fight for
victory here

Summary : LADY RANDOLPH (8) caught the eye on debut when staying on well from a long way
back to finish 5th over 2100m, suggesting this extended trip, with the benefit of that experience,
will be more to her liking. She is taken to get the better of WISE GIRL (9), who sets a good standard
on form, and SALTWELL (2) who is also likely to improve after a promising 2nd on debut.
EGRETTE (5) completes the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
LADY RANDOLPH (8) – WISE GIRL (9) – SALTWELL (2) – AIGRETTE (5)
