R1 – PRIX DUNADEN – 1400m (a7f) – TURF – Claiming – Flat – EUR € 12.000

1. DAKANAO – Improved last start at this level on his reappearance and is open to further
improvement. Place chance
2. ELEGATO – Runner-up in a similar contest at this track last time and should have a say here
with further progress likely. Include
3. MELBORA – Has made progress with every outing and should be right in the firing line if building
on her encouraging last-start 3rd. One to beat
4. GEMCUTTER – Winner of her last start at this course recently and ought to be competitive with
a repeat of that effort here. Keep safe
5. EL PROFESSOR CHOP – Has looked distinctly ordinary in each of his 5 unplaced outings, so
his chances are limited even at this level
6. SEXY ROME – Waldemar Hickst-trained Holy Roman Emperor debutante to be ridden by Michal
Abik. One to note
7. DOBBY D’OR – American Devil debutante to be ridden by Stéphane Breux for Bart de Koninck.
Keep an eye
8. ELVANA – Newcomer by George Vancouver for P. Adda and F. Renaut. Axelle Nicco takes
1,5kg off
9. NO TIME – Unreliable filly but has shown enough to play a minor role in a race of this nature.
Outsider
10. LADY ROCHE – Has the form and benefit of experience which ought to stand her in good stead
here but is vulnerable to less-exposed likely improvers. Place chance

Summary : MELBORA (3) improved with the benefit of a comeback outing (5th) to finish 3rd last
time and ought to land the spoils in her first start at this level if building on that progress. ELEGATO
(2) was 2nd in this grade on his reappearance and is likely to be in the fight for victory.
GEMCUTTER (4) won in this category at this course last time out, so warrants the utmost respect.
Newcomer SEXY ROME (6) is another to note and could be involved.

SELECTIONS
MELBORA (3) – ELEGATO (2) – GEMCUTTER (4) – SEXY ROME (6)

R2 – PRIX DES VIOLETTES – 1400m (a7f) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 4 – Flat – EUR € 9.500

1. JOVIALE BERE – Has the advantage of race fitness and solid form credentials this season. Will
have a role to play
2. HOLLY STORY – Unreliable filly but she remains capable of staking a claim in a race like this.
No forlorn hope
3. PLEASE MY LOVE – Looked distinctly ordinary in both starts to date, so his chances are limited
even at this level
4. IVAR RAGNARSSON – Unplaced and well beaten in each of his 3 outings, so is hard to make a
case for here. Others preferred
5. KARINAS DREAM – Possesses the means to be competitive, judged on his success at Vittel
last summer but has been absent since November. Warrants respect
6. YOU’VE GOT SAIL – Supplemented for this race and capable of better after a much-needed
comeback outing. Not written off just yet
7. CHANTARELLA – Absent since July but has a good record when running fresh after a break.
The highest-rated runner in the field and the one to beat
8. SOUMERA – Nothing noteworthy to her name for a considerable period and can be ruled out.
Overlook
9. LOUVE PRECIEUSE – Has been struggling for some time now and is unlikely to trouble the
judge here. Overlook
10. ARTEMIA – Has shown quality in Germany and is to be followed closely on her comeback and
in her first start on French soil. Keep safe

Summary : Runner-up on her reappearance last year, CHANTARELLA (7) has proven that she
runs well fresh so represents good value to go one better on her 2023 return, as a standout pick
here on ratings. ARTEMIA (10) boasts solid form references in Germany and possesses the means
to be competitive here in her comeback outing, along with returning KARINAS DREAM (5) under
René Piechulek. JOVIALE BERE (1) will keep them honest, though, as she has the recent race
fitness and form credentials to expose any chinks in their armour.

SELECTIONS
CHANTARELLA (7) – ARTEMIA (10) – KARINAS DREAM (5) – JOVIALE BERE (1)

R3 – PRIX DOSTIEP – 1400m (a7f) – TURF – Handicap – Class 3 – Flat – EUR € 20.000

1. WALLEM – Finished 4th behind BRAVEHEART (2) last month and, while not weighted to turn
the tables, should acquit himself competitively.
2. BRAVEHEART – Claimed after a winning over a mile at Saint-Cloud last time. Effective over this
trip and capable of following up for new connections
3. BOBIK – Undeniably capable and not discounted back on the turf following a layoff after unplaced
efforts on the PSF
4. SERIDO – Nothing noteworthy to his name for a considerable period and can be ruled out
5. WIND OF CHANGE – Up 3,5kg for winning his last start but should remains competitive at this
level. Include
6. BIG BOOTS – Runner-up in consecutive starts before finishing a slightly disappointing 6th last
time. Can do better, so must not be written off
7. TAPETEN TONI – Has reaffirmed with improved efforts in both starts this year, albeit at a lower
level. More needed
8. AUTUMN TWILIGHT – Has been struggling to rediscover his form for some time now and is
unlikely to trouble the judge here
9. LEEROY GOLD – Unplaced on his reappearance but is likely to have needed that outing. Could
do better, though a wide draw does his chances no favours
10. WAHIBA SANDS – Was out of sorts heading into the winter break. Capable of a lot better but
is best watched for now on his return
11. MAAVAH – Fluffed her lines at Saint-Cloud last time out after 2 good prior performances.
Capable of bouncing back
12. SWEET MASTER – Has run 2 creditable comeback races this season, finishing 5th last time
out over further. Could get into the picture
13. WARRIOR – Sparingly raced gelding who finished 5th in his only start last year. Probably best
watched back from another layoff

Summary : Last-start winner in a claiming race at Saint-Cloud, BRAVEHEART (2) is unlikely to be
inconvenienced by this slight drop in distance, so taken to follow up at the expense of fellow lastscorer WIND OF CHANGE (5) who finished 3rd here two starts back. Consistent WALLEM (1) can
never be discounted, while MAAVAH (11) should not be written after a disappointing last start and
is capable of bouncing back to have a say here.

SELECTIONS
BRAVEHEART (2) – WIND OF CHANGE (5) – WALLEM (1) – MAAVAH (11)

R4 – PRIX DU COMITE REGIONAL D’EQUITATION DU GRAND EST – 2000m (a1 1/4m) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 4 – Flat – EUR € 9.500

1. DAWN INTELLO – The star attraction of the meeting, this dual Group III winner cannot dream of
a better commitment for his comeback. Follow
2. SKY GLORY – Runner-up back on the flat at Chatillon last week. Should have a role to play here
with a repeat of that effort
3. GYMATO – Open to improvement after finishing 5th on debut so could get into th picture. Place
chance
4. SA SAL – Has nothing noteworthy to his name to warrant consideration here, so can be ruled
out
5. MYTHICO – Capable sort who ought to improve for a much-needed comeback outing. The only
danger to DAWN INTELLO (1)
6. IRLANDIA – Disappointed at Argentan last time after a pleasing debut at Fontainebleau. Could
do better
7. MANDORE – Yvonne Vollmer-trained Manduro debutante to be ridden by Sibylle Vogt who takes
1,5kg off the back

Summary : Head and shoulders clear of his rivals on ratings, DAWN INTELLO (1) has an ideal
opportunity to make a winning comeback here, having been off since his failure in a German Group
I last summer. MYTHICO (5) is no longer the force of old but has three Group wins to his name, so
is capable of posing a threat. Lightly raced SKY GLORY (2) finished 2nd back on the flat last time
and could surprise if confirming that improvement. IRLANDIA (6) completes the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
DAWN INTELLO (1) – MYTHICO (5) – SKY GLORY (2) – IRLANDIA (6)

R5 – PRIX DU MUGUET – 2000m (a1 1/4m) – TURF – Handicap – Class 4 – Flat – EUR € 18.000

1. HEATHERWOOD – Win at Le Croisé-Laroche then finished 3rd at that venue last time. Should
make his presence felt
2. QUEEN OF STARLETS – Has yet to win on French soil but has shown commendable
consistency. Warrants respect

impression here
4. BLACK WALL – Lines up here with good recent form on the PSF and has proven effective on
turf. One to beat
5. NAJEM SHALGHODA – Has looked rather ordinary for some time now, so chances limited even
at this level
6. BREMONTIER – Out of sorts but ran better last time than his finishing position (7th) would
suggest. Could get a look in here
7. SPEED CHOP – Scratched
8. AFTERGLOW – Nothing noteworthy to her name for a considerable period and can be ruled out
9. AZADORE – Has been struggling for some time now so unlikely to trouble the judge. Overlook
10. SABIANO – Was unsuccessful over further before showing himself more comfortable around
this trip last time. Should have a role to play
11. EVALAUR CHOPE – Nothing noteworthy to her name for a considerable period and can be
ruled out
12. SECRET GLORY – Judged on the form of her 2nd at Compiègne in March, she proved herself
capable of having a say in a race like this

Summary : After showing his form on fibresand tracks, BLACK WALL (4) is taken to recapture the
winning thread back on the turf, a surface that will not bother him at all. SABIANO (10) bounced
back to form with a good 2nd last time and could pose the biggest threat if confirming that
improvement. After shining at Le Croisé-Laroche recently, HEATHERWOOD (1) has the means to
play a role. BREMONTIER (6) and SECRET GLORY (12) could get into the picture too if bouncing
back to their best form.

SELECTIONS
BLACK WALL (4) – SABIANO (10) – HEATHERWOOD (1) – BREMONTIER (6)

play a minor role
2. GOGOKA – He was not disgraced when fifth in both starts. Needs to do more to in this race but

run can be expected

and the one to beat
5. FLOWERSPRING – She was not disgraced when fifth on debut at Marseille Borely. Should
improve and could contest th finish
6. MISS ASCOT – She did not show much when seventh on debut. Likely to be smarter this time
but others are preferred

betting
8. KAREN’S DILEMMA – A two-year-old filly by Blek out of Dispol Diva who is making her debut.

the betting

of a challenge of it this time. FLOWERSPRING (5) ran a fair race when fifth on debut and could do
better this time. GOGOKA (2) needs to do more to win a race but could at least earn some money.

SELECTIONS
AQUILA VOLANTE (4) – CAPE CANNON (3) – FLOWERSPRING (5) – GOGOKA (2)

1. BELLES FEUILLES – She looked an improved sort when winning a handicap on the PSF last

2. MAGIC TUNIS – He has been kept to the PSF in four starts. A bit of a disappointment when only
sixth in a handicap last time out but is not out of it trying the turf
3. EAGLE SEA – A good winner of a claimer on the PSF last time out and was not disgraced when
sixth over this distance before that. Big chance
4. BLACK TOBAGO – A three-year-old colt by Berkshire out of Tobago who is making her debut.
Could need the experience
5. ELAUNEIL – Sixth over this course and distance in a handicap last time out. Drops to a claimer
and should contest the finish

Watch the betting
7. PAQUES TOT – Well tried this year and did win a claimer on the PSF. Disappointing eighth in a
handicap last time out. Might place
8. WELCOME TO LIFE – She has not shown much in her two starts. Drops to a claimer so can
improve but others are preferred
9. LADY GAME – Sixth in a claimer at Hyeres on debut. Drops in distance and could improve but
is best watched this time

Summary : EAGLE SEA (3) is already a winner in this division and he can prove to be just as good
on the turf and double up. BELLES FEUILLES (1) is also coming here fresh from a win on the PSF
and she looks to be improving so deserves the utmost respect. ELAUNEIL (5) drops to a claimer
after a sixth-place finish in a handicap so is not out of it. MAGIC TUNIS (2) tries the turf and can
improve.

SELECTIONS
EAGLE SEA (3) – BELLES FEUILLES (1) – ELAUNEIL (5) – MAGIC TUNIS (2)

R8 – GRAND PRIX DE LYON PARILLY – 2200m (a1 3/8m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 53.000

1. HILLARANTE – On the up and coming off two handicap wins at Chantille. Carries a 2.5kg penalty
for last win but is clearly not out of it
2. LIGHTED GLORY – Very unreliable of late but won well in her penultimate start so is clearly
capable of another win
3. ALERIO – It may be worth ignoring his eighth-place finish last time out. Better this distance and
could be the surprise package of the race
4. PORT ETIENNE – Returned from a lengthy break in fine form and has been runner-up in all three
starts this year. Has to prove his handicap mark is correct but deserves respect
5. HELIOPOLIS – Disappointing last run when well beaten. She is clearly capable of better and she
could pop up in a place
6. PLAIN BEAU – Well tried this year without winning. Runner-up in claimer last time out and needs
to do more to win this race
7. BAZOQUES – She was a disappointment after winning nicely at this course in her penultimate
run. Unreliable but could earn some money
8. IDEAL KING – He has only been fair in his first two starts of 2023 and is probably at his best on
the PSF. Could play a minor role
9. MACUN – He has yet to win after eleven starts and was well beaten in his only handicap try.
Others are preferred
10. ELECTRON LIBRE – He is on a long losing streak but he does like this course and he has been
holding his form of late. He has a winning chance
11. LEPTI PRINSADI – He was a disappointment in his penultimate start but has run well in his
other three starts this year and should be right there at the finish
12. SAISON FROIDE – Always gives of her best and comes here after two good wins. Fourth the
last time she was seen in a handicap off a higher mark than this. Go close
13. PIERRE LE GRAND – Disappointing last three starts on the turf and his last two wins were on
the PSF. Probably better on that surface
14. NARCOS – Not at his best this year and was only seventh at this course last time out. Needs
to find a few lengths to win this race
15. WOOT CITY – A bit disappointing of late but he does like this course and he should be
dangerous off this handicap rating
16. ROCK JOYEUX – He seems to have lost his way of late and weas well beaten twice this year
already. Others are much preferred

Summary : A tough race and we have opted with WOOT CITY (15) but it is not with much
confidence. He does like this track and is capable of winning in this division. SAISON FROIDE (12)
is seeking a hat-trick and should be a big threat. ELECTRON LIBRE (10) likes this course and he
has done enough lately to suggest he could win a race like this. LEPTI PRINSADI (11) is in good
form this year and is one of many more that can win this race.

SELECTIONS
WOOT CITY (15) – SAISON FROIDE (12) – ELECTRON LIBRE (10) – LEPTI PRINSADI (11)

R9 – PRIX DE L’ASSOCIATION DES PROPRIETAIRES DU CENTRE-EST – 2400m (a1 1/2m) – TURF – Handicap – Flat – EUR € 20.000

1. STRATUS – A bit of a disappointment when only sixth last time out. Back on the turf for his first
run in a handicap. Go close

He has a place chance
7. MANKO – In very good form of late and was third in a handicap off this mark last time out. Has
a winning chance

10. DOCTOR CHOPPER – He has been kept to the PSF so far and has only been fair. Could
improve on the turf but is best watched for now

PSF. Needs major improvement to win this race
12. HOLY ADDRESS – She was a disappointment when sixth in a claimer in her penultimate start
which was on the PSF. Did better when third last time on the turf. Chance

Summary : Another tough race and STRATUS (1) gets the vote to score but it is not a confident
selection. LOST GENERATION (8) is improving and did win a claimer last time out so deserves
respect. HOLY ADDRESS (12) probably prefers the turf and was not disgraced when third last time
out. TARAJAL (4) struggled the last time he was in a handicap but has been in very good form of
late.

SELECTIONS
STRATUS (1) – LOST GENERATION (8) – HOLY ADDRESS (12) – TARAJAL (4)

1. MOON FLOWER – Has been in good form on the PSF but is most effective on that surface and
unlikely to have a say back on the turf
2. HELLO CHARLY – Out of sorts but ought to fare better in this grade. Booking of Théo Bachelot
also bodes well for his chances here
3. KARRY BRADSHAW – Has looked distinctly ordinary for some time now, so chances limited
even at this level
4. DENIA – Unreliable but capable mare who should have a role to play in a race of nature. Must
include
5. MYSTERY – Versatile and consistent sort with good form in handicap races recently. Chance at
this level
6. DARLINGTON – Finished a reassuring 2nd when stepping back onto the turf last time. Could
have a say here if confirming that improvement
7. LORLISALSA – Won a 1600m handicap at Lyon-Parilly last time and can make her presence
felt once more despite a 2,5kg penalty
8. CARL GUSTAF – Will be near peak fitness after 2 comeback runs and benefits from his rider’s
2,5kg claim, so likely to give a competitive account of himself
9. BEST SIXTEEN – Lost form in handicap races but is more effective at this level and should
bounce back here. One for the shortlist
10. FRENCH PEGASUS – Disappointing in recent starts but capable of a lot better, especially at
this level. Not one to take lightly
11. ALMANARAH – Inconsistent but not incapable of getting a look in at this level having finished
unplaced in a handicap last time. Outsider
12. SLEEPY SUZY – Has not finished far off the mark in recent outings but needs to find some
improvement to be competitive here
13. CRAMBERRIES – Pops up on occasion but has struggled for consistency on both surfaces.
Hard to trust but as hard to rule out
14. NATIONAL VELVET – Consistent mare, in good form and proven at this level. Can get into the
picture from a good draw
15. MARITOT – Undeniably capable but has gone off the boil recently and needs to reaffirm. Watch
for now

Summary : Having dropped in the weights following a string of unplaced efforts in handicap races,
it could pay to follow BEST SIXTEEN (9) who ought to fare better at this level off his current mark.
DENIA (4) is inconsistent but more than capable of playing a leading role back on the turf in this
grade. HELLO CHARLY (2) makes most appeal of Fabrice Vermeulen’s runners, although
stablemate CARL GUSTAF (8) is not incapable of having a say either. NATIONAL VELVET (14),
FRENCH PEGASUS (10) and LORISALSA (7) complete the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
