6 May Selangor Racing Preview by Mark Lydeamore

Course A4 (Rail out 4m entire circuit) will be in operation for both days of racing at Selangor Turf Club this weekend. The 1400m Combined Class 3/4 contest (Race 4) will headline Saturday’s eight race card where ultra consistent performer PERFECT (2) will be targeting his sixth Malaysian win for the Buffalo Stable. The seven year old produced his best performance against a formidable Class 3 lineup here three weeks ago with a dominant six length victory. Despite the outside barrier, his natural early speed will place him in good stead to sit handy and prove hard to beat. LEOPARD ECLIPSE (7) continues his rise through the grades and should be competitive at this level. It will be the six year old’s toughest test to date but he does carry 4kg less from his last start win. GOOD MAN (1) will appreciate the slight drop in class and appears well placed despite the rise in weight. Jockey, Vitor Espindola was aboard the gelding when he scored over 1250m here three starts back and the pair have been reacquainted for Saturday’s contest. TELLER (4) and COLONEL CHIEF (6) are both recent Group One winners adding further interest to what should be a competitive race.

The value selection is the lightly raced five year old WHIZ FIZZ (2), which competes in the 1100m Class 5 event (Race 7). The gelding will strip fitter from his third placing over 1200m here on April 16 and showed enough on his local debut that a Malaysian victory is imminent. CITY KNIGHT (8) is ready to strike also following two placings in succession, the most recent when 2nd to ZULFIKAR (3) over 1100m here last month. ZULFIKAR (3) was resuming from a five and a half month break on that occasion when he basically led throughout and if he finds a comfortable lead, he may prove hard to hold out. LEO (1), a recent late scratching, continues to trial well and looks a chance on the downgrade.
