Race Preview

R1 – PRIX DES POULAINS – 2200m (a1 3/8m) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 1 – Flat – EUR € 30.000

1. LIARI – Runner-up on debut and winner at Toulouse next time out. Should have more to offer.
2. AL MUNDHER – Winner of both starts on the PSF last year. Open to improvement on his
comeback and in his first start on the turf.
3. BACK TO BLACK – Consistent, in form and likely to put his experience to good use after his 3rd
in a Listed race last time.
4. L’ACAJOU – Improved to win on his comeback recently having finished 3rd on debut last year.
More to come.
5. HAPTICS – Has made giant strides on the PSF this year, winning 2 of 3 starts in 2023. More
needed here.

Summary : Competitive opener. BACK TO BLACK (3) finished 3rd in a Listed race last time and
ought to capitalise on this ease in grade by bouncing back to winning ways here. Promising LIARI
(1) confirmed the promise of his debut 2nd with a victory at his next time start and is likely to pose
a threat with improvement expected. Undefeated AL MUNDHER (2) also warrants respect on his
reappearance after 2 wins from as many starts on the fibresand last year.

SELECTIONS
BACK TO BLACK (3) – LIARI (1) – AL MUNDHER (2) – L’ACAJOU (4)

R2 – PRIX DESIR DE MAI – 1600m (a1m) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 21.000

1. WILD PANSY – Finished a promising 2nd on debut and will be competitive with natural
improvement expected. One to beat.
2. SAY AGAIN – Another likely to know more about it after a fair introduction. Could get into the
picture.
3. GRAND STYLE – Was a pleasing 6th on debut and would have come on from the run so could
get a look in.
4. SUPER STAR – Has improved with each start this year and could have a role to play if building
on her last-start 3rd.
5. HOLLY LAW – Finished a pleasing 4th in her only start and should also have more to offer now
with 3,5kg off her back.
6. CAMELOT SONG – Only 6th on her reappearance but ought to improve with the benefit of that
experience. Place chance.
7. PIENSA EN MI – Improved on her debut 7th to finish 2nd at her next start and ought to be
competitive with further progress. Respect.
8. WELCOME TO LIFE – Valentin Le Boeuf takes 3,5kg off the back of this Willywell debutante
trained by Mathieu Pitart.
9. PARK AVENUE – Carmen Bocskai-trained Le Havre debutante to be ridden by Mickaël Forest.
One to note.

Summary : After a good debut 2nd at Chantilly, WILD PANSY (1) should be winning soon and is
likely to improve to open his account here. PIENSA EN MI (7) improved from her debut outing to
finish 2nd at her next start and ought to pose a threat to the selection with further progress. SAY
AGAIN (2) finished 3rd on her introduction against male rivals and should make her presence felt
competing against her own sex. HOLLY LAW (5) is another likely to improve and completes the
shortlist.

SELECTIONS
WILD PANSY (1) – PIENSA EN MI (7) – SAY AGAIN (2) – HOLLY LAW (5)

R3 – PRIX GABRIEL GIRAUD – 2000m (a1 1/4m) – TURF – Handicap – Flat – EUR € 20.000

1. AGRI – Consistent colt who concedes weight to all but has both the form and experience to be
competitive.
2. MAGELLAN – Won by a good margin last time and in similar form should go in again despite a
seven-pound penalty. One to beat.
3. ANNA CARIBEA – Consistent at this level and likely to have a role to play again. Obvious danger.
4. ELAUNEIL – Consistent filly who acquitted herself well on handicap debut recently. Should have
a role to play.
5. BOHEMIA – Went off the boil prior to her winter break and is best watched returning from a break.
6. COLADA FIRST – Improved on her comeback 4th to win last time out. Could stake a claim if
making further progress.
7. DSCHINGIS FEAR – Showed signs of a return to form last time and off his current mark has a
chance of getting a look in here.
8. A STOLEN KISS – Winner of her last start and could get into the picture again despite a 2kg
penalty. Place chance.
9. PRETTY WARRIOR – Has finished 3rd in her two outings this year and on that form could play
another minor role.
10. MARIA CHARME – Has been struggling for some time now so unlikely to trouble the judge.

Summary : MAGELLAN (2) finished 2nd in his first start of the year and improved on that to win
last time out. On that evidence, a resultant 3,5kg penalty is not likely to prevent him from following
up here at the expense of ANNA CARIBEA (3) and ELAUNEIL (4) who have been running well
lately. AGRI (1) is consistent in this category and should have a role to play too.

SELECTIONS
MAGELLAN (2) – ANNA CARIBEA (3) – ELAUNEIL (4) – AGRI (1)

R4 – PRIX DES POULICHES – 2200m (a1 3/8m) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 1 – Flat – EUR € 30.000

1. A MINARDIERE – Has not been as effective in 3 starts this year as she was in 2022 but has a
place chance here.
2. TOLGANAI – Winner on debut on the PSF at Deauville in March. Could be even better on the
turf, so best kept safe.
3. KEZIAH – Finished 3rd on her reappearance after a winning debut last year. Could bounce back
to winning ways.
4. JAGDA – Seldom far off, albeit at a lower level, on the turf but has shown her best form on the
PSF. Outsider.
5. SOLEIL D’ARIZONA – Convincing winner on debut and is open to any amount of improvement
with the benefit of that experience.
6. GRANDE JULIA – Inconsistent in 3 starts last year and will need to improve after her break to
get a look in on her return.
7. KAMMURI DIAMOND – Won at Strasbourg on debut in October but finished 7th of 9 in Germany
at her next start in November. Others preferred.
8. CALMLY – Won her only start of 2023 at Kempton earlier this year and should have more to
offer. Include.
9. LITTERAIRE – Showed good form and consistency in five starts last year so should not be
discounted on her return. Respect.

Summary : After a winning debut last year, KEZIAH (3) finished a creditable 3rd in a good race on
her reappearance. She is taken to improve on that comeback outing and return to winning ways
from CALMLY (8), who won with authority at Kempton earlier this year. Both SOLEIL D’ARIZONA
(5) and TOLGANAI (2) are open to any amount of improvement after winning introductions so also
warrant respect.

SELECTIONS
KEZIAH (3) – CALMLY (8) – SOLEIL D’ARIZONA (5) – TOLGANAI (2)

R5 – PRIX CARRUS – 1600m (a1m) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 21.000

1. SAYED – Also finished 4th on debut and was 2nd on his reappearance recently. Should have a
role to play.
2. ALIJAN MOON – Unplaced on his return and will need to improve on what he’s shown to play a
role here.
3. VIDALGO – Has improved his finishing position with every start and could get into the picture if
making further progress.
4. ALICANTO – Another to have finished 4th on debut and open to improvement after a winter
break. Respect.
5. LE ROZEL – Showed good form and consistency last year and ought to have come on over the
winter. Keep safe.
6. ACCORD PARFAIT – Finished a promising 4th on debut in what looked a warm contest and is
likely to have come on since. Follow.
7. SON GUAL – Was an encouraging 5th on debut and should progress with experience, so must
be respected.
8. CELEB – Not disgraced in finishing 5th on debut and is one of many in this lineup likely to have
improved since. Not discounted.
9. PREWITT – Made a pleasing introduction and would have improved for that outing. Can have a
say.
10. GALLANT DEED – Was 5th on debut and improved to finish 4th at his next start. Will have
more to offer.
11. MY TAKY TAKY LP – Seattle Sur colt who is trained by Vaclav Luka and to be ridden by Alexis
Pouchin.
12. PUMP PUMP CITY – Elusive City gelding on debut for trainer Jean-Pierre Gauvin. Marie Vélon
takes 1,5kg of the back.
13. KIERO REEL – Antonio Orani rides this Magician newcomer trained by Stéphane Labate.
Watch.
14. DALIAPUR – Gérald Geisler-trained Zarak colt on debut with Eddy Hardouin booked to ride.

Summary : PERFECT AGREEMENT (6) performed well on debut to finish 4th in a tough field and
will have come on appreciably for that experience, so could open his account with expected
improvement. Promising SAYED (1) and returning ALICANTO (4), who is likely to improve too after
a pleasing debut 4th last year at Saint-Cloud, are capable of fighting for victory. SON GUAL (7),
PREWITT (9), GALLANT DEED (10) and LE ROZEL (5) fit similar profiles and also could play a
role.

SELECTIONS
ACCORD PARFAIT (6) – SAYED (1) – ALICANTO (4) – SON GUAL (7)

R6 – PRIX DU PRINTEMPS – 2400m (a1 1/2m) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 22.000

1. POUVOIR ROYAL – Consistent sort with solid form credentials to his name. Likely to make a
bold winning bid.
2. JACKSUN – Unreliable sort but capable of staking a claim in a race like this. Respect.
3. DAYSHANN – Made a winning comeback on French soil at Pau in February. Has claims back
on the turf.
4. BYFORD – Winner of his last start which was at this track and should have a role to play again.
5. EXCELSIOR – Talented colt who won his last start of 2022 and ought to be competitive on his
return.
6. PLAIN BEAU – Has lost her way this year after winning twice in 2022, Others preferred.
7. VERT LIBERTE – Absent since November but was in good form before the winter break. Not
discounted.
8. COPPER – Consistent for the most part and was last seen finishing 2nd in his only outing this
year. Dark horse.
9. BLIND BUY – Unplaced in both outings after winning 3 starts back. Needs to reaffirm.
10. SUPER QUARTZ – Another who has gone off the boil this term after a consistent campaign in
2022. Overlook.
11. ZANFOGNA – Erratic mare who pops up on occasion but is as hard to trust as she is to rule
out.

Summary : A potential match-race between the two joint top-rated runners POUVOIR ROYAL (1)
and EXCELSIOR (5). The latter has been absent since October so may lack the race sharpness of
the former who caught the eye when a good 4th last time after a winning comeback. DAYSHANN
(3) also won his first start of the year and could bounce back after a last-start 5th to play a leading
role. BYFORD (4) has never won on this track but could get into the picture nonetheless.

SELECTIONS
POUVOIR ROYAL (1) – EXCELSIOR (5) – DAYSHANN (3) – BYFORD (4)

R7 – PRIX DE SATHONAY-CAMP – 2000m (a1 1/4m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Class 4 – Flat – EUR € 16.000

1. VILLA ROYALE – Unreliable but is more than capable of staking a claim here. Dark horse.
2. MANDLEFT – Drawn widest of all but arrives in good form and should benefit from her rider’s
1,5kg claim. Leading contender.
3. SKIPPER – Has looked distinctly ordinary in 3 conditions races. Chances limited in a handicap
now.
4. SOLKIA – Consistent for the most part from 2019 to 2021 but is best watched after a long layoff.
5. VERLAN – Back in a handicap after winning last time out and likely to be in the mix again. Place
chance.
6. AMANDERO – More effective at a lower level on the PSF and off a lower mark so is hard to
make a case for.
7. TRUST ON HIM – Up 2kg for winning his last start and is also drawn wide but is likely to be
competitive. Include.
8. BEB’S – Has won 2 of his last 3 starts, including his most recent outing. Could get into the picture
again.
9. ALFIERI – Has shown signs of a return to form in recent outings. Could get into the picture.
10. KARYNIA – A well-performed veteran mare who has won 10 times. Has lost her way though so
can be ruled out.
11. ANATH – Out of sorts in her last 3 starts but capable of having a say on her earlier form. Not
written off.
12. DARENIX – Remains winless after 29 starts but is seldom far off the mark. Place chance.

Summary : MANDLEFT (2) has improved to finish 3rd in consecutive starts at this level and, on
that form, is a serious candidate for success here. She is likely to fight for victory with TRUST ON
HIM (7) who should have a leading role to play despite a 2kg penalty for his last-start victory.
ANATH (11) has been out of sorts but ought to fare better in this company, so has a chance of
playing a role along with last-start winner BEB’S (8) under Maxime Guyon.

SELECTIONS
MANDLEFT (2) – TRUST ON HIM (7) – ANATH (11) – BEB’S (8)

R8 – PRIX DE RILLIEUX-LA-PAPE – 2000m (a1 1/4m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Class 3 – Flat – EUR € 20.000

1. NARCOS – Bounced back to form last time and in similar form ought to be competitive with his
rider taking 3,5kg off the back.
2. HAVOC – Drawn widest of all but has finished 2nd in consecutive outings recently and his rider
takes 1,5kg off.
3. VIRTUS – Has shown signs of a return to form recently. Seldom finishes far off the mark but has
only a place chance.
4. DUKE OF CONKER – Not at his best recently but has enjoyed a fair degree of success at this
track. Must not be underestimated.
5. ZARACAMPA – Reassured with an improved 2nd last time out but has been absent since. Could
have a role to play on her return.
6. MORTON – Consistent sort who has resumed this year in good form. Back in a handicap off a
3kg lower mark.
7. PERDRIOLLE – Unreliable sort but remains capable of staking a claim in a race like this. Dark
horse.
8. BRAVE SHIINA – Has struggled for consistency since winning at Strasbourg in May last year.
Outsider.
9. AGOUREIL – Finished 3rd on his reappearance and 3rd again in his last start. Can play a minor
role again with his rider taking 3,5kg off.
10. SAPHIRA DREAM – Has rediscovered her form recently and will benefit from the rider’s 1,5kg
allowance. One to beat.
11. CLEO D’ARGENT – Up 2kg after winning over 2400m on the PSF recently but is better on that
surface and unlikely to repeat that feat here.
12. IL VINCITORE – Capable but unreliable last-start winner. Unlikely to play a role here raised
3,5kg.

Summary : SAPHIRA DREAM (10) has run two good races at Quinté+ level so makes most appeal
here on that form. NARCOS (1) and DUKE OF CONKER (4) have seen their weight situations
improve and, as such, ought to be competitive. ZARACAMPA (5) enjoys it around this track so is
another who could have a hand to play. MORTON (6) and PEDRIOLLE (7) complete the selection.

SELECTIONS
SAPHIRA DREAM (10) – NARCOS (1) – DUKE OF CONKER (4) – ZARACAMPA (5)
