Race Preview

R1 – PRIX VIA MILANO – 2000m (a1 1/4m) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 1 – Flat – EUR € 30.000

1. PACIFIC BOY – Won twice at this track last year from 4 starts, including over this course and
distance. Back from a break but has a chance.
2. KERNO QUATZ – Has won both starts this year, most recently on the PSF at Marseille-Vivaux.
Steps up in class back on the turf but warrants respect.
3. BAY D’ARGENT – Did not enjoy the best run last time when 4th in the Prix Policeman, in which
he started favourite. Can make amends.
4. WUKHANN – Improving last-start winner who scored in good style at Salon-de-Provence. Should
have a role to play with more to offer.
5. AVERSA – Consistent for the most part and has dropped 1kg in the weights, so could play a
minor role. Place chance only.
6. HOTENTICA – Won on debut in a lower grade at Royan-La Palmyre. Open to improvement but
has more to do here.

Summary : Progressive BAY D’ARGENT (3), who holds a Group I Prix du Jockey Club entry, let
the side down on the PSF at Cagnes-sur-Mer last time when only managing to finish 4th in the
2000m Prix Policeman, after winning on his reappearance over that track and trip in January. It
may, however, pay to follow his progress back on the turf so gets the nod ahead of unbeaten
KERNO QUATZ (2) who steps up in class now having won on the fibresand at Marseille-Vivaux
recently. Course-and-distance winner PACIFIC BOY (1) and improving last-start scorer WUKHANN
(4) complete the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
BAY D’ARGENT (3) – KERNO QUATZ (2) – PACIFIC BOY (1) – WUKHANN (4)

R2 – PRIX CLINTON – 2100m (a1 5/16m) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 21.000

1. OHIME – Well beaten in both starts so hard to make a case for. Needs to show improvement.
2. WAY TO MARSEILLE – Has finished 2nd twice and 3rd four times from his seven starts,
including once at this track. Deserves to get his head in front.
3. AMERICANO – Has been consistent on the PSF since relocating to France. Should have a role
to play.
4. MASTER LIGHT – Hunter’s Light gelding making his debut for trainer Rachel Philippon with Allan
Monnier in the saddle.
5. WHYDAH GALLY – Maud le Gall-trained Recorder colt on debut with Fabrice Veron in the irons.
One to note.
6. GALIGOLD – Well-related newcomer, this Galiway gelding is related to a Group winner.
Respected for prominent connections.
7. SIR CALLISTO – Well-bred Siyouni colt trained by Jérôme Reynier and to be ridden by
apprentice Manon Germain who takes 3,5kg off.

Summary : WAY TO MARSEILLE (2) has been a model of consistency so deserves to get his
head in front and should break through for a maiden career win here. Well-bred newcomers SIR
CALLISTO (7), trained by Jérôme Reynier, and GALIGOLD (6) warrant respect and could have a
say, which also applies to AMERICANO (3) who has both the form and experience to get involved.

SELECTIONS
WAY TO MARSEILLE (2) – SIR CALLISTO (7) – GALIGOLD (6) – AMERICANO (3)

R3 – PRIX ROBERT PICARDAT – 2100m (a1 5/16m) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 21.000

1. CHARM OF LOVE – Well-beaten 6th of six on the PSF at Cagnes-sur-Mer on debut. Open to
improvement in first start on the turf.
2. PROMICEA – Twice 5th in as many starts but is open to improvement so could get into the
picture.
3. KALORIZIKI – Seldom finishes far off and is unlikely to be far off the mark here. Has a place
chance.
4. POSTERITY – Was slightly disappointing on soft ground at Toulouse on debut and ought to be
better for that run. Respect.
5. ROSIR – Well-related filly who finished 4th at Chantilly when returning from a winter break. Will
have more to offer.
6. KALEOBAYANE – Has looked distinctly ordinary for some time now, so chances limited even at
this level.
7. FIQUEFLEUR – Well-bred Sea The Moon newcomer who would have benefitted from the
experience of a schooling race, Include.
8. LA NOTAIRE – Fabrice Vermeulen-trained Mayson debutante supplemented for this race. The
only filly in the race to be entered in the Group I Prix de Diane.
9. TONINA – Antonio Orani rides this Stéphane Labate-trained Seabhac debutante. One to watch.

Summary : ROSIR (5) showed promise in both starts last year then finished an encouraging 4th
on her reappearance at Chantilly last week when probably finding 2400m a touch too far too soon.
She ought to fare better at this distance and is taken to open her account with improved fitness on
her side. Well-bred debutantes LA NOTAIRE (8) and FIQUEFLEUR (7) could give cheek if not
showing too many signs of their inexperience while POSTERITY (4) is likely to improve after a quiet
introduction and can also get into the picture.

SELECTIONS
ROSIR (5) – LA NOTAIRE (8) – FIQUEFLEUR (7) – POSTERITY (4)

R4 – PRIX DE L’ISLE-SUR-LA-SORGUE – 1200m (a6f) – TURF – Handicap – Flat – EUR € 20.000

1. MACHITO – Last-start winner over track and trip when fitted with blinkers for the first time.
Chance again despite going up 3kg.
2. RISING UP – Failed to make an impression in a Deauville Listed race but ought to redeem himself
in this grade despite the weight to be carried.
3. ETERNEL – An unreliable sort who rarely runs 2 races the same. Capable of staking a claim in
a race like this.
4. GRAY D’ALBION – Rewarded for consistency in a claiming race on the PSF at Chantilly recently
and could surprise in a handicap and on the turf for the first time.
5. MY RUNNER – Finished 6th over 1600m on the PSF at Chantilly last month but has enough
speed to play a role over this trip.
6. RED CHARM – Made a winning start to the year but has struggled since and appears high
enough in the weights. Must reaffirm.
7. SO GOLD – Finished 2nd to MACHITO (1) over this track and trip last time but is better off at the
weights now. Chance.
8. AL ET CHOP – Belatedly opened his account when rewarded for consistency in a similar contest
over 1400m at Toulouse last time. Has more to do up 2,5kg.
9. L’OPEN – Unreliable sort but remains capable of playing a role in a race like this. Place chance.
10. GO JOHNNY GO GO GO – Consistent performer at this level and is unlikely to be far off the
action. Not discounted.
11. BRAZIL – Has been struggling for some time now and is unlikely to trouble the judge.
12. NIGHT CHOPE – Has looked distinctly ordinary for some time now, so chances limited even at
this level.

Summary : Having tried his luck in a Listed race at Deauville recently, RISING UP (2) ought to
resume winning ways in this grade, despite his heavy 65,5kg load to carry. SO GOLD (7) has
improved with each run this year and, in receipt of 6,5kg from the selection, is likely to fight for
victory if building on his recent 2nd over course and distance. MACHITO (1) beat that rival last time
when fitted with blinkers for the first time and should have a say again under his 3,5kg claiming
apprentice. MY RUNNER (5) won’t bothered by the shortening of the distance and could get into
the picture.

SELECTIONS
RISING UP (2) – SO GOLD (7) – MACHITO (1) – MY RUNNER (5)

R5 – PRIX D’ENSUES – 1700m (a1 1/16m) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 3 – Flat – EUR € 15.000

1. GRAND BALCON – Model of consistency who discovers a great opportunity to notch a third
career victory. Hard to beat.
2. JOH SPIRIT – Better than her recent form suggests and capable of taking advantage of this
shortened distance to play a role.
3. SEAGALI – Has looked distinctly ordinary for some time now, so chances limited even at this
level.
4. LOKMAN – Winner of the Listed Prix Finot over hurdles at Auteuil. Warrants respect back on the
flat.
5. FEEL EMOTION – Absent since winning at Lignières last July and is open to further improvement
on her return.

Summary : GRAND BALCON (1) continues to run well and arrives in good form so is fancied to
make a winning track debut. There can be no doubting the credentials of Jean-Claude Rouget’s
charge, unlike that of LOKMAN (4) who reverts to the flat after a successful two-start stint after
hurdles. JOH SPIRIT (2) is better than her recent form suggests and should have a role to play if
bouncing back to her best. FEEL EMOTION (5) won his last start so is worth a mention on his
comeback.

SELECTIONS
GRAND BALCON (1) – LOKMAN (4) – JOH SPIRIT (2) – FEEL EMOTION (5)

R6 – PRIX DE COLLONGUES – 1700m (a1 1/16m) – TURF – Handicap – Flat – EUR € 20.000

1. EVAMIS – Unreliable sort but is quite capable of staking a claim in a race like this. Respect.
2. SANTHIA – Warrants respect on the form and consistency of her reccnt form on the fibresand.
Must confirm on the turf.
3. MISS OWENKA – Competitive at this handicap value and should have a role to play. On the
shortlist.
4. URBAN GLORY – Lightly raced and open to improvement but will need to do so to get a look in
here. Outsider.
5. SANKA CHOP – More experienced than most and has been running well on the fibresand
recently. Can have a say.
6. GIRAFFE – Opened her account dropped to this mark in the weights and ought to go well again
off the same mark.
7. SPIRIT GREY – Reassured with an improved 3rd last start at Marseille Vivaux and in similar form
should be competitive.
8. ALMOST HEAVEN – Finished 3rd in an interesting maiden race at the end of February at
Cagnes-sur-Mer. One to note.
9. LA SURPRISE – Showed signs of a return to form before the winter break but is best watched
for now on her return.
10. SYMBOLE – Has been struggling for some time now and is unlikely to trouble the judge.
Overlook.

Summary : This 1700m handicap for three-year-olds provides last-start winner GIRAFFE (6) with
an ideal opportunity to follow up her recent success at Hyeres. Patrice Cottier’s charge will still have
to pull out all the stops, though, to get the better of SANKA CHOP (5) who shown improved form
and consistency in recent starts. Jean-Paul Gauvin’s MISS OWENKA (3) and SANTHIA (2)
complete the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
GIRAFFE (6) – SANKA CHOP (5) – MISS OWENKA (3) – SANTHIA (2)

R7 – PRIX DE CORNILLON – 2600m (a1 5/8m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Class 4 – Flat – EUR € 16.000

1. LA BRUXELLOISE – Finished a reassuring 3rd at Hyères last time out and can envisage victory
with a repeat. Respected.
2. BUSINESS PLAN – Was a creditable 6th at Chantilly recently and is distance suited. One for the
shortlist.
3. MONFRERE – Track specialist who remains consistent despite his old age. Should have another
leading role to play.
4. PRISON BREAK – Unreliable sort but quite capable of staking a claim in a race like this. Respect.
5. SYLVER SAMBA – Holding form her recently, boasts both the form and consistency to play a
role. Chance.
6. SAYANN – Reassured with an improved last start and in similar form should be competitive.
7. BALGEES TIME – Nothing noteworthy to her name for a considerable period and can be ruled
out.
8. SUPERIOR BADOLAT – Refused to jump at Toulouse last time out after winning over course
and distance at his previous start. Can make amends.
9. MY NEST – Has looked distinctly ordinary for some time now, so chances limited even at this
level.
10. TENDER WINNER – Nothing noteworthy to his name for a considerable period so can be ruled
out here.
11. TAEKWONDO – Has been struggling for some time now and is unlikely to trouble the judge.

Summary : MONFRERE (3) knows this track inside out so could be worth siding with after
consecutive seconds in his last 2 starts. He will, however, have to wary of LA BRUXELLOISE (1)
the highest-rated runner in this handicap. BUSINESS PLAN (2) is inconsistent but should have a
leading role to play. SILVER SAMBA (5) is capable of playing a role too after an improved recent
outing, while SUPERIOR BADOLAT (8) cannot be trusted but is also hard to rule out.

SELECTIONS
MONFRERE (3) – LA BRUXELLOISE (1) – BUSINESS PLAN (2) – SYLVER SAMBA (5)

R8 – PRIX DE CHAVAGNAC – 2600m (a1 5/8m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Class 3 – Flat – EUR € 20.000

5. MY LENNY – Loves this course and won it last time out. Likely to play another leading role.
6. TRENAVIN – A convincing winner recently on the PSF at Marseille-Vivaux. Starts life in the
handicaps and on the grass with great ambitions.
7. SHAYRAN – Has been struggling for some time now and is unlikely to trouble the judge.
8. DESILUSION – Found form and consistency prior to her winter break but is best watched on her
return.
9. MISS ROAZHON – Has looked distinctly ordinary for some time now, so chances limited even at
this level.
10. FREE BREATH – Has won his last 2 starts but is probably more effective at a lowerl level.
Outsoier here.
11. MISS CAYSSIE – Has finished 3rd in four runs from five starts at this track. Can run into the
money.

Summary : Sparingly raced TRENAVIN (6) has continued to improve with every outing on the PSF,
culminating with a last-start victory on th PSF, and could of his current mark to make a winning
handicap debut in this field. MY LENNY (5) also won his last start and arrives in great shape. He
has excelled at this track so should be competitive, aloing with GIPSY JET SEPT (3) after an
improved last start and NAMASTE (2) who shouldn’t be condemned for his recent failure.

SELECTIONS
TRENAVIN (6) – MY LENNY (5) – GIPSY JET SEPT (3) – NAMASTE (2)
