PLETHORE (1) cannot be ignored on what he has shown so far and deserves respect. CAMILL (3) has been supplemented for the race and will have supporters.

  1. KENZYDANCER – Runner up in handicap at Marseille Borely recently. That was his best in some time and although unreliable can go one better

  3. VANILLE BLEUE – Well tried this year having the eight starts so far. Won penultimate start and has a winning chance

  5. PLAZA – Much improved with a fourth-place finish recently. Needs to do more to win this race but is not out of it
  6. NIGHT OF THE OPERA – A bit disappointing when only fifth last time out on the PSF. Better on the turf and won his penultimate start. Chance
  7. FEEL THE FEVER – Much improved when third at Marseille-Borely recently. Has won off this handicap rating before so is not out of it

  9. EXPLORAR – He has lost his way completely of late having been well beaten in his last four handicap races. Others are much preferred
  10. THIRD APPLE – 37 times without a win sums up her winning chance but she has been runner-up off this mark once before. Might place

Summary : Recently a runner-up KENZYDANCER (1) can go one better in a weak race but it is open looking and the finish should be competitive. COIMBRA (4) could be ready to strike after two runs this year. VANILLE BLEUE (3) is fit and did win the penultimate of hers. PLAZA (5) is improving and could do better this time. 1. AZOV – He is coming off three poor runs on the PSF but was a winner at Saint Cloud the last time he was on the grass and is capable of a surprise

  3. SPACE FORCE – Well beaten at Marseille Borely recently. Is a better horse on the PSF but does also hold a winning chance in the race
  4. CHIEF RED CLOUD – Unreliable of late but does seem at his best on the grass so a good run of him can be expected and he has a winning chance
  5. SAPIENS – He could be anchored by his current rating as he was only tenth last time out. Better on the PSF but has also won on this surface. Respect
  6. I DARE – Fit but was disappointing when only ninth last time out. A winner at Nimes in his penultimate start was good though. Place chance
  7. HIGHEST ROCKEUR – Returned to his best with a good win last time out over Marseille Borely 1200m. A 2kg penalty may not stop another win
  8. YAKAMETTE KOUKEBAK – Returned from a break to win at Nimes 1200m. Only a 1kg penalty but this is tougher. Not out of it though
  9. WASACHOP – Ended a long losing splel when winning his penultimate start. Only fifth last time out but can earn some money
  10. ASTRACHEM – Has struggled in his four starts of 2023. His last handicap win was off a slightly less rating so more is needed of him to win this race
  11. SANTI DEL MARE – Runner-up at Nimes recently. That was a much improved effort and he needs to confirm that form. Place chance

Summary : The drop in distance this time could be the key to sparking improvement out of GAME RUN (2) and he could be of some value to punters. SPACE FORCE (3) is probably better on the PSF but does have a winning chance. HIGHEST ROCKEUR (7) picked up a 2kg penalty for the latest win but that may not stop him. WASACHOP (9) is another that can get involved in the finish.

  3. KARTHAGE – Fair first three runs. Probably needs to do more to beat these rivals but can earn some minor money

  5. WELDORPHER – Well beaten in both starts so far. Improvement is possible but is probably best watched for now

  8. ZARAKEM – Fourth at this course last year and did not do badly when fourth at Cagnes-sur-Mer in only start of this year and has a winning chance
  9. ALCYONE – She did not show much on debut but did a lot better when third at Toulouse over 2100m. She deserves some respect on that run
  10. CAYAMBE – She was well beaten on her debut but did better when sixth in her second start. More is needed to win this time
  11. DEMELZA – Fair third at Nimes on debut. Disappointed when seventh on the PSF next time out. Could be the surprise package returning to the grass
  12. RUE DE LA MER – She has not shown much in her two starts so far and needs to find a few lengths to win this race

Summary : A very open looking race this and anything looks possible here. ZARAKEM (8) has shown enough to deserve the vote but will he pull it off? MONACO RULES (6) is improving and should be a danger. AIR FORCE ONE (7) has been consistent without winning but one of these that will change. ALCYONE (9) is another that is improving and must be given some respect.

  7. PEDRO DEL RIO – Unreliable but is coming off a win in a handicap in his latest start. Has also won at this track last year so deserves respect
  8. WAYNE – Kept to the PSF of late and is probably best on that surface. Distance suited and could earn some minor money possibly

  10. MY RIVER – Well beaten in four handicaps this year and seems to have lost her way completely and has yet to win a race

  12. MIHARO – On a very long losing streak and struggled in nearly all of his runs in 2022. Likely to need this comeback run as well

Summary : It could be a win for JONH FOR ALWAYS (11) on the 53rd attempt but is clearly not one to risk any rent money on. DREAM OF EMERAUDE (2) did better on the grass last time out and can go one better. MOUTRAKI (1) needs to return to his best but is quite capable of winning a race like this as he has won off a higher mark.  The unreliable PEDRO DEL RIO (7) can also win again.

  4. THE MANAGER – Has been consistent all year and was third in a handicap last time out. Should contest the finish yet again
  5. MAPLE GIRL – Has struggled in her seven starts since her only win at Vichy in 2022 including four times this year. Others are preferred

  4. MISS BELIEVE – She has been doing well in claimers of late and has also previously done well at this course. In with a winning chance
  5. PADRON – Unreliable and perhaps at his very best on the PSF but does hold a winning chance in this line-up
  6. KENZAL – In good form on the PSF this year with two wins. Did also run well when third on the grass so is not out of it
  7. EDITED – Good winner of a claimer last time out but was only fifth in a handicap off his current mark in the penultimate start
  8. GINO – Has lost his way with two poor runs recently. He is capable of doing a lot better but is best watched for now
  9. BEST SIXTEEN – On a long losing streak and has only been moderate of late. Might sneak a minor place at best
  10. JUSSIFER – Has mainly been kept to the PSF these days and was dreadful when last seen on the turf so others are preferred
  11. AZACHOP – He has done well in his last two handicaps so even at eight-years-old he has a winning hope

  6. COUP GAGNANT – Well-beaten 10th of 11 on debut and can be ruled out on that. Overlook

  9. AUTHODIDACTE – Well-bred Authorized debutante who Maxime Guyon rides. One to note

Summary : Group I Prix de Diane entry THE LAST WALTZ (7) was not beaten a long way on her debut on the PSF and it could pay to follow her progress returning from a break in her first outing on the turf. CHASING THE SUN (4) will appreciate the return to a rain-affected grass track so could fight for the win. Well-bred newcomers AUTHODIDACTE (9) and ILLUCIDATE (8) are others to and the betting market could provide a guide to their chances on debut.

  10. KASSAR SAID – Won at a lower level last year and was unplaced on handicap debut. Hard to make a case for

  14. HAPPY HUNTER – Pleasing 4th on handicap debut when resuming after a break and should have more to offer. On the shortlist

Summary : SISTER OF LOVE (7) was belatedly rewarded for her consistency last time when bravely getting the better of Lunala, who has won a handicap since. and is fancied to go in again despite going up 2,5kg. To do that, though, she will have to thwart HAPPY HUNTER (14) who was an encouraging 4th on his comeback and BO LYWOOD (12) on his handicap debut. IL RITORNO (4) was a good 2nd in a claimer last time out and returns to this category with justified ambitions.

SELECTIONS

  4. FORBIDDEN SECRET – Continues to drop in the weights so could get into the picture. Place chance
  5. UNAMUNO – Has looked distinctly ordinary for some time now, so chances limited even at this level
  6. SEIGNEUR – Has been struggling for some time so is unlikely to trouble the judge

  16. KENARTIC – Nothing noteworthy to his name for a considerable period. Can be ruled out
  17. BOZA – Unreliable but quite capable of staking a claim in a race like this. Outside chance

Summary : Following a string of poor performances, WELCOME SIGHT (11) bounced back to form and caught the eye in a similar contest at this track over 1500m last month. Equipped with cheekpieces this time around, she could spring a surprise so may be worth siding with. Consistent PARIGI (1) enjoys the surface and has a good role to play along with KIWI KISS (10), judged on her 2nd at this track two starts back. SHYAMALA (9), with Théo Bachelot in the irons again, and in-form KINGSFOLD (8) complete the shortlist.
