RACE BY RACE PREVIEWS: GREYVILLE@2023.03.26

Greyville, 26.03.2023, Race 1, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R100.000, 12:20GMT+2

Race Summary: Many runners with room for improvement over the longer distance. Western Cape colt ABERDEEN took his chances in a feature second time out and did not disgrace himself. He should enjoy the longer and has not drawn badly around the turn for the first time. ROMANCE IN ROME has run well at this venue on the turf and poly. He gives the impression he has more to come and could follow up on an easy maiden win. GIVERS GRACE is the other winner in the race. He may have needed his comeback after running in a feature upcountry. SPLENDID FELLA should enjoy the trip but has drawn widest.

Selections:

#6 Aberdeen, #4 Romance In Rome, #10 Splendid Fella, #1 Givers Grace

Greyville, 26.03.2023, Race 2, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R100.000, 12:55GMT+2

Race Summary: APPROACHABLE LASS didn’t enjoy 1600m last time. She may travel better dropping in distance and should have every chance from a plum gate. KITTYBOYS GIRL wasn’t disgraced from a wide draw last time but has a similar task again. She looks to be one of the main protagonists on form. VERMACILLI is starting to get the hang of things and could be the one to catch if she gets her fractions right. SWEETER THAN HONEY turned in an encouraging performance last time and has drawn in gate one. TEPHRA was supported on debut but has drawn wide.

Selections:

#2 Approachable Lass, #8 Kittyboys Girl, #4 Vermacilli, #1 Sweeter Than Honey

Greyville, 26.03.2023, Race 3, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R100.000, 13:30GMT+2

Race Summary: REACH FORTHE STARS ran on well from far off the pace in sprints. He is bred and suited for 1600m. ADDABAR wasn’t far off the former and he too has stamina in his pedigree. However, he hasn’t drawn as well and has his work cut out. DOIN’ TIME ran an encouraging race when tried over this distance on the poly. He could confirm and may prove to be the dark horse. HIS MASTER’S VOICE could just need to get the timing right. He has shown enough to be in the vanguard. RED PIANO has been gelded and perhaps he will show his talent now.

Selections:

#2 Reach Forthe Stars, #8 Addabar, #5 Doin’ Time, #7 His Master’s Voice

Greyville, 26.03.2023, Race 4, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R100.000, 14:05GMT+2

Race Summary: MADISON BLUES threatened in the Western Cape. He could be better over the shorter distance and could make a winning local debut. PARIS RAIN has steady local form and improved before a layoff. He did decent work in a sprint and should appreciate the extra distance again. MAJESTIC REIGN will be looking to go one better after finishing runner-up in his last three. He will be super fit in his first try over 1600m. CAPTAIN CORRUPT and UNCLE LUCKY have both shown the potential needed to be in the fight for honours.

Selections:

#4 Madison Blues, #1 Paris Rain, #7 Majestic Reign, #6 Captain Corrupt

Greyville, 26.03.2023, Race 5, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R100.000, 14:40GMT+2

Race Summary: Although racing off a rating of 50, WALTON HALL must rate the form choice. He was unlucky to lose his last start as he was hampered by the winner and had a subsequent winner just under ten lengths behind him. But it has been almost two years since he last tasted success. PIKETBERG ALLEY showed something again last time. It was his second local outing and he made improvement with frontrunning tactics. VENGEANCE FOREVER has been disappointing but needed his local debut after a rest. RAVENS SWORD, JETAVANA and WORD FOR WORD seem best on the poly but could upset here.

Selections:

#10 Walton Hall, #5 Piketberg Alley, #9 Word For Word, #6 Vengeance Forever

Greyville, 26.03.2023, Race 6, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R150.000, 15:15GMT+2

Race Summary: Vercingetorix-gelding CAPE EAGLE has been a revelation since employing frontrunning tactics. He has won four of his last five, including a listed race at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He can add a feature at this venue. CAPTAIN FONTANE has also been gaining in confidence again and goes for a hat-trick. If he gets going in time he could do it. Three-year-old LORD WILLIAM made a winning local debut and could dominate his elders again. PRICELESS RULER and SHAMPOMPO SHAMPIZI are capable of a big finish while BACK TO BLACK could get into the money.

Selections:

#4 Cape Eagle, #6 Captain Fontane, #3 Lord William, #2 Priceless Ruler

Greyville, 26.03.2023, Race 7, Gallops, 2200m, Turf, R100.000, 15:50GMT+2

Race Summary: TWICE GOLDEN was unlucky not to finally win here as he shifted about allowing PAPA C to come back and win. He could turn it around at the weights. PAPA C, however, will be on a high and can repeat. SEA MASTER is versatile and has beaten stronger so needs to be taken seriously. ARVERNI KING may not be well in at the weights but gives the impression he could improve over the marathon distance. TOM BOMBADIL needs a fast pace and could run on to win if the race is run to suit. CYBER TIME disappointed last time but seems capable of better.

Selections:

#3 Sea Master, #2 Papa C, #5 Twice Golden, #1 Tom Bombadil

Greyville, 26.03.2023, Race 8, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R100.000, 16:25GMT+2

Race Summary: VALERIAS DREAM wasn’t disgraced in a sprint last time. She would have sharpened up and needs to find just a little bit more for a win. MAGNA MATER finished 3,10-lengths ahead of the former when they met and is now 3kg better off at the weights, but she is racing after a break. FORT J’ADORE wasn’t disgraced in her post maiden outing and is set to come on nicely especially over the longer distance which she won over. CAPRIANA ran well last time out but needs to confirm on turf. Many more with earning potential.

Selections:

#2 Valerias Dream, #5 Magna Mater, #6 Fort J’Adore, #3 Capriana

Best Win: #6 ABERDEEN

Best Value Bet: #3 SEA MASTER

Best Longshot: #3 SEA MASTER
