Race Preview

Race 1 – PRIX DE FONT ROUSSE –  1200m HCP. Purse EUR €20,000.

  1. MACHITO – Often among the minors but finds it hard to win. Last start finished sixth at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather beaten 9L.
  2. RED CHARM – Registered her maiden success three back but has missed the placings on the last two appearances. Could place on best form.
  3. SO GOLD – Drops in journey from the latest outing when third over 1500m at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Going well and should be prominent again.
  4. IDEE DE CHEVAL – Last time out finished fourth over 1500m at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Great chance to break through.
  5. BRAZIL – Could only manage seventh last time out over 1300m at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather.
  6. GO JOHNNY GO GO GO – Not a prolific winner with just two victories from 21 starts. Last start finished fifth over 1300m at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather. Looking to others.
  7. COMTESSE DU BARRY – Last appeared when she finished fourth over 1500m at Cagnes-sur-Mer on January 31. Happy to risk.
  8. ZAVADREAM – Drops in distance from latest outing when second over 1700m at this track. In the mix.

Summary: IDEE DE CHEVAL (4) delivered a 5.5L fourth in a 1500m maiden at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Selected to register his first victory. SO GOLD (3) looks a threat following a 2.75L third in a maiden over 1500m at Cagnes-sur-Mer. ZAVADREAM (8) gets in off a low weight here. Enters calculations on the back of a 5L second in a 1700m claimer at this circuit. RED CHARM (2) registered a 2L fourth over 1300m on the AW at Cagnes-sur-Mer on her penultimate start. Of note in this field.

Race 2 – PRIX DE L’ESTAQUE –  1700m MDN. Purse EUR €21,000.

  1. ETHAN HUNT – Back in action today after seven months in the paddock. Must improve since being beaten 10L over 1400m at Moulins on his only start. Others preferred.
  2. VIRIATUS – Went for a spell after a good second on debut at Chantilly All Weather over 1900m four months ago. Winning chance on his return.
  3. SPIRIT GREY – Has not raced since finishing 2.25L away in fourth over 1800m at Lyon-la-Soie on December 12. Contender.
  4. PATTOLO – Has ability and is racing well with two minor placings from four starts. Great chance to break through.
  5. COLBY CHOP – Finished third first-up at Cagnes-sur-Mer then couldn’t repeat when sixth at Cagnes-sur-Mer over 1500m when beaten 11L. In the mix.
  6. EDALA – Finished second last start but was beaten only 2.5L over 1600m at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather. Has ability and is one of the leading chances.
  7. ALMOND CHOUQUETTE – Yet to fill a placing in two career runs and was well beaten last time when 10L back in seventh over 1800m at Lyon-la-Soie. Will need to improve sharply.
  8. RUE DE LA MER – Needs to improve after a fifth on debut at Chantilly AW.
  9. PIENSA EN MI – Finished 12L back in seventh on debut over 1600m at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather last start. Safely held.

Summary: EDALA (6) delivered a 2.5L second in a 1600m maiden on the AW at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Looks capable of going one better on her first turf start since June last year. VIRIATUS (2) debuted with a 1.5L second over 1900m in a newcomers race at Chantilly AW. Dangerous debuting for a new trainer. PATTOLO (4) enters calculations having placed third in a 2000m claimer at Cagnes-sur-Mer on his penultimate start. SPIRIT GREY (3) registered a 2L fourth over 1800m in a Lyon-la-Soie handicap. Consider for the win.

Race 3 – PRIX PIERRE MAUREL –  1700m CL2. Purse EUR €22,000.

  1. WE RIDE THE WORLD – Improving with each run this campaign. Finished third on his latest appearance over 1600m at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather. Contender.
  2. DRAGONET – Usually reliable type who ran well below his best last start when 5.5L back in seventh over 2000m at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather. More needed.
  3. NATIONAL SERVICE – Scored two starts back at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather before finishing 1.75L from the winner in second last time over 1600m. Going well enough to win.
  4. MON BEL CANTO – Had been racing well before breaking through last time over today’s journey at Pau All Weather. Should be in the finish again.
  5. PERLE ROUGE – Kicked off this campaign last time out with a fourth over 1600m at Pau All Weather. Among the chances.
  6. INDYCO – Went down narrowly last start when second at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather over 1600m. Sound top-three prospects again.
  7. MASHMEDIA – Returns from a brief spell. Might find this too tough.
  8. ROCQUEMONT – Usually reliable type who ran well below his best last start when thirteenth over 1600m at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather. Looking elsewhere.
  9. WILD SWEETHEART – May have needed the run last start when resuming at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather over 2000m. Prefer others.

Summary: NATIONAL SERVICE (3) placed second when beaten 1.75L in the Listed Prix Saonois over 1600m at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Selected to make a winning return to turf. WE RIDE THE WORLD (1) came home 2.5L third in that Listed event. Dangerous in this field. MON BEL CANTO (4) won by 0.75L in a 1600m contest at Pau. Shortlist. PERLE ROUGE (5) enters calculations following a 1.75L fourth in that Pau event.

Race 4 – PRIX JULES MORGAN –  2000m HCP. Purse EUR €20,000.

  1. BLAS – Lightly raced colt who was beaten 1.5L into second last start over 2000m at this track. Likely to feature.
  2. ANDFIELD PARK – Returned from a layoff last start and was beaten 7L into sixth over 2150m at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Plenty of improvement to come.
  3. AIR FORCE ONE – Resumes today after filling a minor placing five times from 10 starts in his maiden campaign. Open to improvement and expected to feature.
  4. GIRAFFE – Finished out of the money over 1500m at Cagnes-sur-Mer last start. Could sneak a place.
  5. SUBLIME ATTRACTION – Safely accounted for on each of her three runs to date. No threat when seventh over 2000m at this track last time out. Others preferred.
  6. VILLA JOALI – Has a poor strike rate and failed to improve on it last start when she finished fourth over 2000m at Marseille Vivaux. Needs to lift.
  7. GERMINAL – Did well to finish third on his most recent run over 2000m at Marseille Vivaux. Worth following up.
  8. PATZESTEVE – Has done nothing in three runs to date. Impossible to recommend.
  9. FEEL JOY – Has been out of the money recently including last time out when sixth over 2150m at Cagnes-sur-Mer two-and-a-half weeks ago. Prefer to see her back in form.
  10. FIZZI TOF – Has been out of the money recently including last time out when seventh over 2000m at Marseille Vivaux three-and-a-half weeks ago. Tested again.

Summary: Supplemented runner BLAS (1) is taken to defy top weight on handicap debut following a 1.5L second over course and distance. ANDFIELD PARK (2) is expected to deliver a big effort on his first handicap start following a 7.25L sixth in a 2150m conditions event at Cagnes-sur-Mer. A bold show is expected from AIR FORCE ONE (3) who faded late on when 7.5L sixth over this trip at Marseille-Vivaux. GERMINAL (7) warrants consideration switched to a handicap following a 3L third in a 2000m claimer at Marseille-Vivaux.

Race 5 – PRIX DU MASSIF DE L’ETOILE –  1800m HCP CL4. Purse EUR €16,000.

  1. NOBLE AMBER – Finished midfield last start at Cagnes-sur-Mer over 1500m. Tackles a longer journey this time. Look for a much better performance.
  2. PAULITA MAX – Has two wins and nine minors from 19 career starts. Last start finished third at Hyeres. Expected to go close on best form.
  3. THE MANAGER – Last start finished fifth over 1600m at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather. Capable enough on his day and is expected to run well.
  4. MARBOOT – Seven-year-old gelding who drops in distance from the latest outing when sixth over 2000m at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather finishing 3.5 lengths off the winner. In the mix.
  5. WELLINGTON ROSE – Struggling for form of late. Last seen finishing fourth at Hyeres.
  6. MOUTRAKI – Last appeared nine weeks ago when he finished 1.3L from the winner in sixth over 2000m at Marseille Vivaux. Looks a key runner while fresh.
  7. RIMBAULT – Ran a better race last start to finish fifth over 2000m at this track. More needed to win.
  8. DANCE COLONY – After a good effort two back was a disappointing seventh last start over 1500m at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Place form on best.
  9. DREAM OF EMERAUDE – Finds it hard to win. Looking to others.
  10. PRESS OFFICER – Won two starts back at Cagnes-sur-Mer but was well held last start. Looking to others.
  11. MY NEST – Can’t recommend until he offers some improvement.
  12. JONH FOR ALWAYS – Last appeared when he finished fifth over 1400m at Mont-de-Marsan on February 24. Others going much better heading into this one.
  13. A L’ANNEAU – Hasn’t shown much to date. Will need to improve to have any impact in this race.

Summary: PAULITA MAX (2) came home 11L third in an 1850m conditions event at Hyeres. Selected to register a victory having placed second on both previous starts at this venue. THE MANAGER (3) performed well when 1.5L fifth over 1600m in an AW handicap at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Expected to play a part in the finish. MOUTRAKI (6) enters calculations on the back of a 1.25L sixth over 2000m at Marseille-Vivaux. NOBLE AMBER (1) is another to consider following a 3L sixth over 1500m at Cagnes-sur-Mer.

Race 6 – PRIX DU GARLABAN –  1800m HCP CL3. Purse EUR €20,000.

  1. BENI KHIAR – Finished third over 2000m at Marseille Vivaux two back then missed the frame last time out over 1600m at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather. Best form stacks up nicely and deserves another chance.
  2. SEAGALI – Returns after a spell of nine months. Closed the last campaign in lukewarm fashion with a fifth over 2000m at Lyon-Parilly. Wait and see.
  3. MISTER GRENADINE – Below par in two runs since a win three back. Racing below his best and is not expected to threaten.
  4. ALPAGE – Made it two wins a row last start when he scored at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather over 2000m. Going well enough to add a third win.
  5. DENIA – Last appeared when she finished ninth over 1500m at Cagnes-sur-Mer on February 22. Place chance.
  6. BEST SIXTEEN – Hasn’t hit the frame in recent outings although looked better when fifth at Cagnes-sur-Mer last time. Needs more.
  7. EVERMAN – Broke back into the top-three last start when second at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather over 2000m. In the mix.
  8. ITALO – A sequence of wins was broken last time out when he finished twelfth over 1600m at Chantilly All Weather. Place chance on best form.
  9. WING GIRL – Has been out of the money recently including last start when fourth over 2000m at Marseille. More needed.
  10. CAPOBLANCO – Has a poor strike and failed to improve on it last start when he finished third over 2000m at Marseille Vivaux. Well placed this time and expected to be in the finish.
  11. BLANC BLEU – Got home by 2.5L at Marseille Vivaux two starts ago. Disappointed last time at Lyon-la-Soie when 3.5L eleventh. More needed.
  12. MAX VERST – Last start seventh over 2000m at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather. Has ability but might find this too tough.
  13. LA FLACA – Has been in the money on five occasions in 20 starts but is still chasing her maiden win. Last appeared when seventh over 1600m at Toulouse on March 6. Hard to entertain.
  14. AZACHOP – Drops in journey from latest outing when second over 2000m at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather and finished 1.3L off the winner. Key runner.

Summary: ALPAGE (4) completed a double when winning by 2L over 2000m at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Taken to continue his winning run. CAPOBLANCO (10) looks a big danger following a 0.5L third in a 2000m handicap at Marseille-Vivaux. AZACHOP (14) enters calculations on the back of a 1.25L second having raced from the front over 2000m at Cagnes-sur-Mer. BENI KHIAR (1) registered a 3.25L sixth in a 1600m claimer at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Strong claims having demonstrated good form prior.
