Sight Success prepared for his G1 Al Quoz Sprint (1200m) test with a first-past-the-post barrier trial at Sha Tin this morning (Tuesday, 14 March) for trainer John Size.
Pleasing connections with an untested 1m 09.76s effort over 1200m on dirt under Vagner Borges, Sight Success will next feature on the world stage on Saturday, 25 March on Dubai World Cup Night at Meydan.
“He’s done alright. He’s been well, he’s had two trials now after a break. The horse is well exposed, he’s in good shape, he’s healthy and well,” Size said.
The Al Quoz Sprint is a straight dash over 1200m at Meydan. Sight Success is one of two Hong Kong entrants with Duke Wai also lining up for trainer Pierre Ng.
Sight Success has enjoyed a swift but unassuming rise across the last 12 months, improving sharply to return a Group 3 success as well as a pair of Group 1 placings behind Wellington and Lucky Sweynesse this season.
“It looks like a suitable race, he gets an opportunity to win a decent race. He runs well each time, he complies quite well and he’s a willing racehorse,” Size said.
Sight Success is expected to depart Hong Kong this Friday (17 March) for Dubai. British ace Ryan Moore has been booked to ride him in the Middle East.
The Al Quoz Sprint will feature the likes of Al Dasim, The Astrologist, Happy Romance Logo Hunter, Pogo, Flaming Rib, Al Suhail and more.
Trained by George Boughey, Al Dasim shapes as one of the leading contenders in the Al Quoz Sprint, boasting an undefeated record over 1200m at Meydan.
The Harry Angel colt is three-for-three over the course and distance, capped with victory in the G3 Nad Al Sheba Turf Sprint (1200m) earlier this month.
Looking to more immediate assignments, Howdeepisyourlove will chase back-to-back wins for John Size and continue his swift emergence when he contests the Class 3 Cheung Chau Handicap (1200m) at Happy Valley on Wednesday evening (15 March).
“He looks like a nice horse. He’s doing everything correctly and he has a good gate,” Size said. “He’s only a young horse and he seems to have plenty of potential.”
The Deep Field gelding is beginning to make huge strides and will step away favourably from barrier two at the city circuit under Karis Teetan. A three-year-old, Howdeepisyourlove has risen nine points following his facile win at the start of March.
You’remyeverything will step back in grade after proving competitive in Class 2 this season. The Tony Cruz-trained runner will link with Alexis Badel and is the race’s clear top-rater on a mark of 80.
Hugh Bowman has 32 wins this season and tomorrow night the Australian is looking to advance further up the championship table when he hops aboard the last-start winning Nimble Nimbus in the Class 3 Ap Lei Chau Handicap (1650m) for trainer Ricky Yiu.
“He trialled very well in the lead-up to that race (he won) and we were confident he would run a good race, which he did. He drew quite awkwardly that day – that was our biggest concern but it’s a little bit of a better draw (this time) with barrier seven.
“He has the tactical pace to put himself in a good position and with that run under his belt, I don’t see any reason why he can’t improve on what he did,” Bowman said.
Nimble Nimbus is a four-time winner in Hong Kong from 18 starts and now sits on a career-high mark of 79.
“He’s a versatile horse – I think he has the stamina to go a bit quicker and still quicken off that. The race looks to set up well for him but with that aside, he is a horse in good form and although he’s going up a bit in weight, he’s a big strong horse and I don’t think that is a negative,” Bowman said.
Wednesday’s (15 March) nine-race fixture at Happy Valley kicks off at 6.45pm with the Class 5 Peng Chau Handicap (1800m).
