Ipoh Racing Preview By Mark Lydeamore For 29 Oct

It will be another challenging card for punters as Perak Turf Club will host a seven race program on Saturday.

The high-grade race is the Big Chief Stakes (Race 4) and features a clash between inform gallopers and last start winners CHINA CAPTAIN and GRAND CHOICE.

CHINA CAPTAIN posted numerous placings as a maiden before finally breaking through at start number fourteen in November last year. The six year old has not looked back rising through the grades recording 7 wins in the past 11 months, 6 of those victories on wet tracks. The Cecil Robert trained gelding is coming off an impressive win in Penang last start when he was slow to begin before winning with authority over the 1400m trip.

GRAND CHOICE is racing in career best form and makes his first visit to the Perak circuit. The Charles Leck prepared gelding is aiming for the hat trick and if anything, his most recent win was more impressive compared to his other two victories this season. The eight year old defied the class rise scoring by 2.75 length at his first foray in class 3 company and apprentice Clyde Leck is enjoying his best season in the saddle and currently leads the jockeys premiership.

DIRECTOR has been in red hot form in recent months and actually lowered the colours of GRAND CHOICE in a Class 4 contest back in September. The nine year old has won two from his last three starts with his last two victories recorded on his home track in Penang but did win on the Ipoh circuit earlier in the year.

EXDREAM posted a hat trick of wins a few months back, all in Class 4, and has been competitive in the higher grades since then. The seven year old has placed 3 from 4 at the track and distance and is always one to throw in for the trifectas.
