Selangor Racing Preview By Mark Lydeamore For 15 Oct

The 1100m New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Trophy (Race 9) will headline the eleven race program at Selangor Turf Club where the Course A will be in operation with the rail in the true position. The race features the return clash of the highly rated mares XENA and GINGERELLA, both coming off a seven week break. The pair ran the quinella in a 1200m Metro A contest here on August 28 with XENA producing her customary turn of foot to prevail by 2.5 lengths with GINGERELLA dead heating for 2nd placing. They will be pitted against the smart WHITE HOOF BIRD who resumes from a three month break and possesses an impressive first up record. The six year old has not raced since finishing 3rd behind Selangor Gold Cup aspirant, Lonely Boy here on July 17. If he strikes his best form, ECLIPSE SPLASH could also figure prominently as he also resumes and goes well first up.

The other highlight is the 1250m New Zealand Bloodstock Airfreight Stakes (Race 5) where ALLIANCE CAPTAIN is set to continue his rise through the grades when he aims for the winning hat trick. The four year old has chalked up an impressive record of 5 wins from 7 starts and is coming off successive victories at Class 3 level. Trainer Ooi Chin Chin has placed the gelding to advantage once again and should prove hard to beat with another hat trick seeking galloper, HIGH WATER as the main danger. With two from two in Malaysia, HIGH WATER is on the upgrade but has looked impressive in both Class 4 wins, including his local debut performance where he dominated to score by seven lengths here on August 20. The Penang trained GOLD SKY BILLION has only started once on the circuit previously for a 2nd placing and looks well weighted to figure in the exotics.
