Ipoh Racing Preview By Mark Lydeamore For 9 Oct

Only a small card of seven races at Perak Turf Club this Sunday headlined by the 1400m Harlequin Stakes (Race 5) where local trainer Kevin Coetzee will saddle four of the eight runners in the high grade contest.

The stable has a good chance of cleaning up the trifecta with DANCING RAIN, LIM’S DASHING and EXDREAM all with winning claims. DANCING RAIN, with 1 win from 9 local starts, was placed in Penang behind the smart Shanghai Nights two starts back before finishing just outside the placings against a strong Class 3 line up in Kuala Lumpur a month ago. LIM’S DASHING closed off well when finishing 3rd behind his talented stable mate, Grand Cross at Ipoh last Sunday and appears well suited stepping up in journey. EXDREAM finished 4th in that same event and has been racing well since chalking up a winning hat trick earlier in the season. The seven year old appears well weighted after the claim even the though the gelding is yet to score beyond 1200m. GOOD MAN has failed in two starts since winning an Open Novice race back in June but did trial well on Tuesday indicating that he may have benefitted from the short break.

THUNDERGOD was an impressive 5.75 length winner in Penang two weeks ago and should go close again in the 1600m Psyche Handicap (Race 4). The five year old was first up from a two month spell on that occasion and has won at the Ipoh circuit previously. KING RAVANA put in his worst performance locally when finishing unplaced in soft going at Penang last start. The six year old posted four successive victories earlier this year, including three over the mile, and has the capacity to bounce back from his recent blemish. ELITE REMARKABLE is a versatile type which hasn’t been far away in recent starts and is a worthy trifecta chance while SACRED GALAXY will be searching for its first Class 4 victory.
