Penang Racing Preview By Mark Lydeamore For 31 July

The 1700m Jockey Club Of Turkey Cup will headline Penang’s Sunday card of racing and despite the small field, it appears to be a very open contest with several recent winners engaged in the RM 50,000 feature.

ELITE REMARKABLE has been a vast improver since changing ownership and joining the Selangor stables of V Sivan posting successive victories over 1275m and 2000m respectively back in June. The seven year old reverted back to 1400m in Class 3 grade a fortnight ago and caught the eye with a fast finishing 3rd.

FIRST LIGHT was very sharp in his 1300m win at KL when he also flew home from a rearward position and is a previous winner over 1700m. The eight year old galloper visits the Penang circuit for the first time.

SEMAMNTAN PRINCE does not win too often but is rarely far off the mark while DANCING RAIN was placed over Sunday’s journey back in May before breaking his Malaysian duck over the mile on June 25.

Last start winner, THUNDER DRAGON who caused a minor upset in KL two weeks ago lowering the colours of promising type, Flying Durumi over 1400m. The six year old carries 7kg more from his victory but he does possess an impressive third up record.

LEGEND WAR has won four times on wet tracks and has been freshened since his eye catching run here in soft going early last month.

TALENTED has been a model of consistency for the HY Cheng stable building an imposing record with 3 wins and 4 placings from 10 starts and should go close to taking out the 1100m Class 4 contest. The four year old appears on track for successive victories. DRONE looks a big danger judging by his Class 4 record and he did chase home smart type, Gamestonks in a Class 3 race recently.
