WINTER’S JOIE had excuses last time and could bounce back to confirm the promise of his debut, so is respected. COSMIC EMPIRE and PURE MAVERICK have been gelded since last seen and may also improve to take home a cheque. WYLIE JACK must confirm the improvement shown last time.

Race Summary: COUNTRY TIME confirmed the improvement shown from her first to second start when again finding just one too good over track and trip last time. She ought to make further progress and play a leading role. PALO QUEEN was on debut when finishing half a length adrift of that rival and, with the benefit of that experience, could improve to turn the tables. SILVER SCREEN and AMANDA DUNES are held on that form but open to improvement, as is SKADI who could get into the picture. A bigger threat, however, may come from PONTE VECCHIO who has shown promise and could have more to offer with blinkers on.

Watch the betting for clues to the chances of the many newcomers – GIMMEAFIRST, LADY OF GOLD and LOVE RULES are of particular interest.

Race Summary: INNAMORARE caught the eye when staying on over 1000m to finish runner-up behind an odds-on shot and, with the benefit of that experience and expected improvement over the extra, should be hard to beat. Several others should improve after an introductory outing, including well-bred stablemate GREEN FALCON and MASTER JOSH. Of the newcomers, WILLIAM RUFUS makes most appeal and is best kept safe.

DRACMA was a well-beaten second on debut but can only improve, so has earning potential. DEMELZA could have a say if able to reproduce the same form she was in prior to her layoff.

Youngster TOTHEMOONANDBACK took another step forward to shed his maiden tag trying 1400m for the first time and, despite taking on older rivals, will be hard to hold out with further improvement expected over the same course and distance. SILENT WAR, fitter for a recent comeback run over track and trip, and hard-knocker PATH OF CHOICE will keep the 2yo honest and are likely to pose a threat. CAPTIVE MOON may need further and is also unlikely to get a hot pace to aim at in this small field, but could play a minor role nonetheless.

Likely improver SCALINI and William Longsword newcomers LONGPATH and RASSIESWATERBOTTLE could pose more of a threat, CANFORD LIGHTS is another who could play a role in the finish.

She won’t have things her own way again and will find this tougher given a 5-point penalty but should be competitive. Gutsy frontrunner REWRITE THE STARS runs well at this track. She was only collared late in a slightly stronger race over track and trip last time and should go close again with a repeat of that effort. MAGICAL JAVA and HAMMIE’S FAN are closely matched on that form and, as such, must also be respected. RAISING QUINN, PARISIENNE GIRL and IMPRESSIVE QUEEN can have a say too.
