South Africa Racing – Dance to the Rhythm Of The Rain

Punters have a tough card to study this Friday but there are always winners to be found and there could be some bets worth taking.

The first of four possible bets come in Race 2, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1000m on the turf track, where the Alan Greeff trained Rhythm Of The Rain is clearly the one to beat.

This three-year-old filly has been runner-up four times in her five starts and there was clearly something amiss in her unplaced effort.

The form of those many runner-up berths has been pretty good and she is overdue her first success.

Jockey Greg Cheyne knows the filly well and can get the best out of her.

Trainer Justin Snaith has not been as successful as in the past when raiding the Eastern Cape but his charge, Querari gelding Kalahari Ferrari, has been in good form at Kenilworth recently and was a runaway winner the last time he ran at Fairview so could prove better than his rivals in Race 4, a MR 90 Handicap over 1200m.

The Lady’s Slipper (Listed) over 1200m is the feature race of the day and it should be a competitive finish.

Five of the nine runners are coming into this race after recent maiden successes, and most are still unexposed types, so an upset is possible.

Che Vincera represents the Snaith yard and she is coming off a decent win and could be the one to beat.

Trainer Sharon Kotzen has her yard in good form and there was a lot to like about the local debut of And We Danced in early May.

This Pathfork filly always gives of her best and the step up in distance will suit her and she should be involved with the finish in Race 8, a MR 68 Handicap over1600m.
