The Inquiry into the riding of RESURGENCE (I Amirul) in Race 9 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 17 April 2022 was concluded on Tuesday, 19 April 2022.
After taking evidence from Jockey I Amirul (pictured), the rider of RESURGENCE, and Trainer T Fitzsimmons, the Trainer of RESURGENCE, Jockey Amirul was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) in that he failed to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The specifics of the charge being:
- That approaching the 350m, he did fail to attempt to shift to the outside of BIG MARY (CC Wong), which would have afforded him unimpeded running to the Finishing Line;
- That from the 350m to passing the 150m, he did fail to ride with sufficient vigour and determination.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account the nature of the charge, his disciplinary record, personal circumstances and precedent penalties. In all the circumstances, Jockey Amirul’s Licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of four months from Tuesday, 19 April 2022 until Thursday, 18 August 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
