Fairview has thrown us a curve ball on Friday and just like we did on Tuesday we are hoping trainer Gavin Smith does the business for us at this meeting.
The Smith-Kennedy combination continues at a decent strike rate and can score in Race 5 with Cairon and Diamonds And Toads in Race 8.
Cairon ended a winning streak in his most recent start when a distance fifth behind Follow That Star.
His unbeaten record of four out of four wins on the Fairview turf came to a crashing halt.
The 2400m seemed to be the problem for the Twice Over gelding. Although slowly away he was in position to attack but fell away at the finish.
Admittedly, the 2000m of this race is not ideal and he is far better over 1600m to 1800m, but Cairon has at least finished runner-up over this distance at the Vaal a year ago.
Great Warrior was just ahead of Cairon when they met, and he also seemed stretched by that distance so should be with Cairon at the finish once again.
The owners of Diamonds And Toads must be well pleased with their trainer for what he has achieved with this Coup De Grace filly as she has been very consistent and has picked up two wins this season and a number of places.
The four-year-old filly is badly drawn and is coming off a rare unplaced run, but she is worth a small each-way strike in a competitive race.
