Race 2 – 4 SPARKLING STAR

Debuted in late November with a fast finishing effort into third and trialled nicely before his second-up run in late December. Was well in the market that day but never found cover and raced three-wide throughout.

Granted the slow speed meant he was still able to finish 1 ¼ lengths into sixth, and his mid-race exertion was second highest in the race, so there was plenty to like about the run. Purton takes the ride this week and a big run can be expected in a winnable race.

Race 10 – 14 BELLAGIO

Has had no luck at his last two starts after he stood in the barriers first-up in early October but made up a stack of ground to check home 2 ¼ lengths into fifth, before racing wide throughout close to a hot speed over the mile second-up, holding his ground for a solid 3 ¼ lengths sixth place.

Races first-up off a 77-day break but has trialled three times for his return and looked well in each. Contests a strong race but boasts good each-way claims.

Race 1 – 4 LONDON HALL

Got too far back after jumping from a wide draw over 1800m 14 days ago but returned big mid-race exertion while producing the fastest final two furlongs in the event for a solid fourth. Looks ready for 2000m and Moreira sticks with.

Race 4 – 4 DAILY BEAUTY

Jumped from barrier 14 on debut over 1200m 21 days ago and was steadied to the rear of the field. Defied a slow early speed by unleashing with the fastest last sectional in the race to make up six lengths in the straight for an impressive fifth place.
