Lucky to work his Magic first-up

Lucky Magic

Last year’s champion galloper LUCKY MAGIC makes his return to the track on Wednesday, where he will face a quality lineup in the RM100,000 Chinese New Year Prosperity Trophy at Kuala Lumpur.

LUCKY MAGIC resumes for the first time since finishing third behind KIM EMPEROR and BANKER’S TWO SIX in the 2000m Group 1 Piala Emas Sultan Selangor on December 7. A three-time Group 1 winner and Selangor Mile victor, he was not fully extended in a recent trial and appears primed for a bold first-up performance.

His chief rival could be PLATINUM EMPEROR, who boasts an impressive local record of four wins from six starts and returned in emphatic fashion with a fighting victory over 1200m three weeks ago.

Six-year-old galloper TYPHOON can make amends for his recent defeat when he lines up in Wednesday’s 1400m Wishes Come True Stakes.

TYPHOON opened his seasonal account with a narrow victory over 1500m in a Class 5A contest on January 24. The Simon Dunderdale-trained gelding was heavily supported to start favourite over 1300m here last Sunday week and caught the eye when flashing home from midfield.

He took some time to wind up over the shorter trip, ultimately finishing 1.75 lengths from the winner. Once again tasked with carrying 59kg, TYPHOON has proven capable under weight and looks well placed to return to winning form.
