Race 1 No.4 LIM’S SINAI
His recent efforts over 1400m and 1500m are best overlooked, as those trips stretched him beyond his ideal distance. A closer look at his earlier form shows a solid fifth and a narrow second over 1020m four and five runs ago.
Returning from a two-month break, the drop back to 1200m looks more suitable, and he is expected to deliver an improved first-up performance.
Race 2 No.2 CASH COVE
He brings solid form around the in-form GOLD MEDAL ROSE, having finished a close second two starts ago before racing on the speed and sticking on fairly for sixth last time out. On both occasions, wide draws worked against him and dulled his winning prospects.
The drop to Class 5 for the first time is a notable positive, and he shapes as one to watch closely this week.
Race 4 No.7 BANKER’S BOSS
A one-time winner from six starts in Western Australia, he was last seen scoring in impressive fashion at Northam in July last year, unleashing a sharp turn of foot late to overhaul his rivals with ease over 1000m.
He has trialled well in preparation for his local debut, and stepping into a below-par Class 4 field gives him a strong chance of hitting the ground running.
Race 6 No.9 RED DRAGON
Last start’s 1200m proved well short of his ideal, while his two prior runs came with genuine excuses — a tardy start first cost him any winning chance, followed by a horror wide trip that left him empty in the straight.
With the drop in class and the step up in distance both playing to his strengths, it would come as no surprise to see him finish in the Top 3 this week.
