Race 5 – 3 CLOUD NINE

He had genuine excuses last start and that performance is best forgiven. Near the 300m, he copped a nasty check and was squeezed onto the rail, losing vital momentum. By the time he regained his balance, the race was over and he had to settle for seventh.

Prior to that, he made the running and finished a solid third on debut, and should be right in the mix if things fall his way.

Race 10 – 9 THE RED HARE

After recording a narrow yet impressive win two starts ago, he endured a luckless run last time, being held up between the 300m and 150m. Once clear in the closing stages, he finished strongly into third, beaten just 1.75 lengths over this distance.

Well weighted this week, he finds a winnable race and looks capable of making amends with a cleaner passage in transit.

Race 2 – 13 GANGNAM STAR

Last time out, he was disappointed for a run near the 450m and remained awkwardly placed between the 450m and 350m, before clipping the heels of another runner and blundering badly. On the strength of his fast-finishing third two starts ago, he deserves another chance.

Race 9 – 7 RAGING RAPIDS

Despite being hindered by wide draws of late, he has won once from his past three starts and comes off a fast-finishing fourth over this distance, recording the second-fastest final 400m in 22.86 seconds. In what shapes as an open contest this week, he must be considered a strong contender.
