RACE BY RACE PREVIEWS: FAIRVIEW@2026.01.30

Fairview, 30.01.2026, Race 1, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R78.000, 12:30GMT+2

Race Summary: Alan Greeff-trained US RANGER looked unlucky not to win on debut. He was touched off by some promising sorts and the winner was trained by Dean Smith. Smith has three runners carded for this and it is noteworthy that stable jockey Craig Zackey rides GB-bred GREY EAGLE. Stable companion JUST CARTER was narrowly beaten on the Polytrack on debut but did not repeat that when well beaten at Kenilworth. FLYING SKITT is trained by trainers who are capable of having juvenile winners.

Selections: #4 Grey Eagle, #7 U S Ranger, #2 Flying Skitt, #5 Just Carter

Fairview, 30.01.2026, Race 2, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R78.000, 13:05GMT+2

Race Summary: DAFFODIL DELIGHT could prove hard to beat on debut. Only two of the nine runners carded have experience and both were not disgraced on their debuts. Both TP THUNDERCHILD and WILD STAR should be right there at the finish. Trainer Dean Smith has SABOTEUR representing his yard and could be ready for this with Craig Zackey. QUEEN’S AWAY is another newcomer that could get involved with the finish for trainer Juan Nel.

Selections: #2 Daffodil Delight, #8 Tp Thunderchild, #7 Saboteur, #9 Wild Star

Fairview, 30.01.2026, Race 3, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R91.000, 13:40GMT+2

Race Summary: ENCHANTING CHOICE clearly needed her return run and should strip fitter this time. She has a very good record for trainer Alan Greeff and jockey Craig Zackey knows how to get the best out of her. Stable companion BAIE MOOI has done little wrong so far. She has been kept to the Polytrack and this her first run on the turf. She could be anything. FAMILY POWER has improved for trainer Dean Smith and should be right there at the finish yet again. She was a winner when last racing on the grass. EPIKLEROS has only been modest of late but did win her last run on this surface.

Selections: #1 Enchanting Choice, #4 Baie Mooi, #2 Family Power, #3 Epikleros

Fairview, 30.01.2026, Race 4, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R75.000, 14:15GMT+2

Race Summary: WARRIOR’S EDGE showed promise on his debut. He was all at sea on the Polytrack in his second start so that run is easily ignored. It is interesting he is back on the grass. ROCKIE BLUE is threatening to win a race. He only found a well-backed and good debut winner a bit better than him last time out. He goes a bit further this time but should have no troubles with this distance. BLAME IT ON ME and CLIFFIE CLAVIN have all had plenty of chances to exit the maiden ranks but are also capable of making the frame.

Selections: #14 Warrior’s Edge, #15 Rockie Blue, #3 Blame It On Me, #4 Cliffie Clavin

Fairview, 30.01.2026, Race 5, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R175.000, 14:50GMT+2

Race Summary: ZINOVI is clearly a lot better than he showed at Turffontein last time out. He was doing very nicely at this, his home track, and can bounce back to beat these rivals. He does, however, give weight away to all his rivals. LANCIAFIAMME is still improving and chased home the Algoa Gup winner twice lately. He deserves a winning turn and will be right there at the finish. FIREALLEY is not reliable but is talented and can make the frame. JOKER MAN showed improvement last time out and is another to consider.

Selections: #1 Zinovi, #7 Lanciafiamme, #5 Joker Man, #2 Firealley

Fairview, 30.01.2026, Race 6, Gallops, 2400m, Turf, R175.000, 15:25GMT+2

Race Summary: BAD MEDICINE was an impressive winner on stable debut for trainer Kelly Mitchley. That was on the Polytrack but he has won on the turf and can follow up. HOME REEF spoilt his very good form this season with a disappointing last effort. He is clearly better than that run would suggest and could be a threat. GEORGE HANDEL has had plenty of racing of late and stands up to that task well so could earn some more money. ANATOLIAN SILVER is in good form and should contest the finish again.

Selections: #2 Bad Medicine, #3 Home Reef, #8 Anatolian Silver, #4 George Handel

Fairview, 30.01.2026, Race 7, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R175.000, 16:00GMT+2

Race Summary: ROMAN AGENT has some solid recent form and deserves another win. MERCANTOUR pulled off the WSB Polytrack Challenge so his recent run in Gauteng is best ignored. He should be right there at the finish over this course and distance. ANUSCHKA’S WORLD is consistent and capable of earning some more money. GOLDEN PAVILION returned to form with a game win last time out and could be competitive yet again.

Selections: #7 Roman Agent, #1 Mercantour, #6 Golden Pavilion, #2 Anuschka’s World

Fairview, 30.01.2026, Race 8, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R79.000, 16:35GMT+2

Race Summary: ARE YOU SURE makes her local debut after a change of trainer and would not be a surprise winner. CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS won well on local debut and could follow up. QUEEN OF JAZZ will like it back on the grass and would not be a surprise winner.

Selections: #1 Are You Sure, #8 Queen Of Jazz, #3 Champagne Problems, #2 Japanese Garden

Best Win: #1 ENCHANTING CHOICE

Best Longshot: #14 WARRIOR’S EDGE
