December 20 Selangor Preview By Mark Lydeamore

SIR RUBY (2) has been racing well for the Joseph Leck stable as the promising three-year-old targets a winning hat trick in the 1500m Class 4 contest (Race 3). Following a 1300m Restricted Maiden win on October 26, the gelding simply decimated a Class 4 lineup over 1500m on November 30 and will prove hard to beat despite the three kilogram rise in the weights. KING’S GAMBIT (4) had chalked up four successive minor placings prior to his last start failure from a wide draw so may pay to forgive. PACIFIC BAOBEI (11), a former Class 2 galloper has descended in the ratings and has finished close up in recent starts while FAMILY DELIGHT (3) only scored once last preparation and is one to watch first up. OCEAN JUPITER (9) does mix his form but is a handy sit sprinter who could surprise at value.

Race 3 Selections: (2) SIR RUBY   (4) KING’S GAMBIT   (11) PACIFIC BAOBEI   (3) FAMILY DELIGHT

BANKER’S EIGHTYONE (3) enjoyed a fruitful campaign posting three wins this year and will be resuming in the 1150m Class 4B (Race 5). The former Australian enters Class 4 for the first time as he also targets the winning hat trick. SANTINO (5) unfortunately lost the rider last start but was a Class 5 winner prior to that and has recorded four placings at this level. THUNDER STAR (7) was trapped wide and still ran well to finish 4th here on November 23 and is a proven performer in the grade. PACIFIC ANGEL (2) is rarely far away and was holding good form at the trials during the week. SILVER SAMURAI (1) will be suited dropping back to the “B” division of Class 4.

Race 5 Selections: (3) BANKER’S EIGHTYONE   (5) SANTINO   (7) THUNDER STAR   (2) PACIFIC ANGEL

SPICY BABE (3) and COOL SIXTY-ONE (2) are both racing well coming of recent wins and should head the markets in the 1150m Class 4B (Race 6). SPICY BABE (3) led throughout to score by 3.75 lengths in the same grade on November 22 and may prove hard to beat again. However, COOL SIXTY-ONE (2) drew barrier ten in both wins on Track Two recently and his early speed is an asset. AERAS (1) had no luck last start but recorded a string of minor placings prior and is dropping back to the “B” division of Class 4. PACIFIC SONIC (8) has scored twice at the track and distance and is holding good form while BANKER’S PRINCESS (5) can bounce back to the form she displayed when winning a Restricted Maiden back in Mid-September.

Race 6 Selections: (3) SPICY BABE   (2) COOL SIXTY-ONE   (1) AERAS   (8) PACIFIC SONIC

STOP THE WATER (2) picked up three wins during his initial Malaysian preparation and should be primed following five runs this time in. The five-year-old led and was pressured throughout when finishing unplaced in the 1200m Malaysian Celebrities Trophy here a fortnight ago but is a chance of returning to winning form in the 1020m Class 3 (Race 7). SINCEFOON HERO (5) simply had no luck when caught wide throughout in the same race and is ready to strike fourth up this campaign. PACIFIC GENERAL (7) has won five races this season and cannot be underestimated in the grade. BUURAQ SIXTY-ONE (6) finished runner up at huge odds in the Royal Sabah Turf Club Trophy two weeks back and is capable of scoring at this level. THE STAR (9) possesses a good record of five wins from eight starts in the country and will face his toughest test first up for five months.

Race 7 Selections: (2) STOP THE WATER   (5) SINCEFOON HERO   (7) PACIFIC GENERAL   (6) BUURAQ SIXTY-ONE
