I’m A Fireball can set course alight

I'm A Fireball “我是火球”

Mike and Mathew de Kock’s I’m A Fireball returns on Friday night at Hollywoodbets Greyville after a lengthy break since the Grade 2 Golden Horseshoe in July. Now gelded, the Vercingetorix gelding showed enough early promise to contest feature races, but soft ground blunted his impact. He makes his comeback in the Lucky Fish Power Pick B Stakes over 1000m and, while he may need the run, a repeat of his debut win would see him hard to beat.

Circumbendibus looks the obvious danger after an authoritative last-start win, though he drops back in trip. Captain’s Christy arrives in peak form after back-to-back wins but faces a stiffer task following a handicap rise. First Origin could surprise dropping in class with a 4kg claimer engaged.

The opening bi-pot leg is competitive. Dee Dee’s Delight and Cali Bullet have both improved with racing, while Ms Galore has the turn of foot to feature if the extra distance suits. Skipper O’Malley and Call Me Harriet are closely matched after a recent tight finish.

The Nile Boss could improve second run for her new stable with a light weight and good draw. Amafort continues to knock on the door, while Golden Angel should strip fitter after her stable debut.

Plum Pudding looks a solid Pick 6 anchor but faces pressure from JP’s Palace and French Trip, the latter raised in the handicap after an easy win. The 2400m C Stakes revolves around Continental Express back at his ideal trip, with Councillor a lightweight threat if staying.

Gotta Go Eddie brings strong course-and-distance form into the mile, while Miss Munroe adds intrigue on stable debut after a Highveld double. Music Is Life, a dual course-and-distance winner, can cap the card, though Now I Got You and One Armed Bandit add depth to a competitive finale.
