Korea Racing Busan Preview – 12 December

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Small field of juvenile maidens in the opener. (7) GLOBAL PRINCE was a close 2^nd on debut over 1200M on October 24^th, racing handy throughout. He should have come on for that and he shapes as a warm favourite here. (8) BIG STAR has raced twice and has registered a 3^rd and a 2^nd at 1000M and 1200M, coming from off the pace in the first of them and leading in the second. Third-up she can have a fitness edge on most of these. (5) DIMENSION underwhelmed on debut at the beginning of October but caught the eye when sent back to trial on November 22^nd, crossing the line six-lengths to the good and if he brings that form to the races, he can be in the finish. (4) MYSTIK JIN and (1) BAMTORI BAMBAM can improve from their respective first outings.

Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1600M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(4) OASIS RUBY enters off back-to-back 3^rd places at 1400M, finishing off well enough both times. The step up to a mile can suit and she can win here. (9) SKYLOR JIYOU has made solid progress across three starts so far, culminating in 3^rd place over 1300M on November 14^th when settling handy from the widest gate. He too should be fine with the increased trip, and may well start as the market elect. (8) HWANHUI BANK beat a couple of these in his way to 2^nd at big odds on November 17^th. That was his best result in seventeen attempts so there may be limited scope for improvement, but he can be there or thereabouts again. (1) HIGH GOLD BAR and (5) VORTEX others in the hunt.

Busan Race 3: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(10) DOCTOR ACE has hinted at ability across three starts so far with a 3^rd and a couple of 4^th place finishes, including his latest at 1300M on November 14^th when he led for much of the way. He has the challenge of the widest gate here, but Franco climbs on for the first time and today can be his day. (6) PISTOL CUT was an improved 3^rd at start two on November 14^th over this distance when leading until the straight. She can lead again here and once more be in this a long way. It’s been thirty-six weeks since (2) MAGIC HAMMER ran 3^rd on debut. He didn’t offer many clues in a November trial but with a 4kg claim and a good draw, he has to be a chance in this modest company. (9) WONDERFUL PREACH can improve while (1) PRAY MORE was adequate in trials.

Busan Race 4: Class 5 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(5) ENCORE got his maiden win at start two in August and then put in a fair, if well-beaten, effort in Listed Juvenile company in September. Since returning to shallower waters, he has a 3^rd and a 2^nd at 1300M and 1200M and under an apprentice claim, he can return to winning ways on his first try at a mile. (3) FLYING CHAMPION enters off back-to-back 2^nd places at this class and distance, most recently beating a couple of today’s rivals on November 14^th when narrowly missing out. He only comes up 1kg in weight and is a big danger.  (2) BARBELL TROFEO has been very disappointing in his latest two, laying in both times and finishing well back. He has had six weeks off and has trialed positively during it.  (1) ILNYEOM SINHWA and (8) COLONEL FLYING are other place chances.

Busan Race 5: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Fillies (and one mare) only here. (12) FANTASTIC BOLT got her maiden win with an all the way score over 1200M in October and then ran 3^rd when handy on her first try at this class and distance on November 14^th. She drew fairly wide that day so the widest gate shouldn’t cause too many problems and she can win here. (1) SINCHEON FREEDOM comes up in class having won over this distance on November 16^th, leading all the way. She doesn’t get a weight break, but Franco stays on and from the inside gate, they can lead again.  (6) HOLIDAY QUEEN came from well off the pace to run 2^nd at this class over 1200M on November 21^st and can run into some money again. (8) GLOBAL HEROINE and (7) SEONGSIL JEIL others to consider on a place line.

Busan Race 6: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

After running 3^rd on debut in September, (5) ISIMNYEON JIGI came back out on November 2^nd and led all the way to score over this distance. He is up in class but is down 3kg in weight, draws well, and he can make all again. (7) SEOBU DANCING hasn’t raced since August when after being sent off as favourite, he did just about everything wrong but was later found to be lame. He has been back in training since the end of October and looked well in a late November trial and in this company can go well first-up. (6) APDOJEOK NUMBERONE has lost his way a little since a class and distance win in August but an apprentice claim contributing to a 5kg weight drop may be what he needs to be competitive again. (2) GREAT TOP, second up after a layoff, and (11) WONDER MOCCASIN others in line for the minors.

Busan Race 7: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

A couple of debut-makers plus some coming back off long layoffs make this a tricky one. (2) FLYING DANU is one of those returnees, racing for the first time since February when she was 3^rd at this class and distance. Fitness shouldn’t be a problem as she went through two trials in November, winning them both, and drawn well to lead, she can win here. (12) ARCHER HEART is a first-time starter. The Runhappy colt ran 2^nd in both his trials in decent times and while he has to contend with the widest gate, that kind of form can see him competitive. (4) FLY TO THE MOON returns for the first time since August. He won a trail in good order two weeks ago and can be a threat. (9) HANEUL SINHWA has a 3^rd and a 2^nd from his latest two, both at this class and distance and can be in the mix again. He will need to overturn the form on (3) EUNHASU was a promising 5^th on debut and will have plenty of backers in a wide open race.

Busan Race 8: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(2) BIG JAWS had a poor day at the office last time out on November 14^th when drawn wide and struggling to find a comfortable position on the early pace. He has won over this trip and was going well prior to that last effort and from a better gate is worth another chance. (11) BLAZING MAN comes in off a 2^nd place at this class over the mile on November 14^th. He has placed three times at 1800M and third-up this preparation, he can be peaking fitness wise. (9) POWER TIME is up in class following a narrow win at 1600M on November 14^th when coming from off the pace. He comes down a full 3.5kg in weight and that can help him measure up here. (8) FLYING THE KHAN and (1) CARIBBEAN BAY are others with at least place chances.

Busan Race 9: Class 3 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(5) GREAT BOY was a class and distance winner on October 31^st when settling midfield and running on. He has to contend with a full 5.5kg in additional weight here but that is balanced a little by a better gate, and he can be in contention again. (11) NEVER GIVE UP won three straight races at class 4 level between June and August before running 3^rd, beating a few of today’s rivals, at this class and distance on October 4^th. He too has his fair share of weight, but he clearly loves the trip and is a danger. (7) BEOLMAUI ACE was 4^th behind Great Boy last time out and while he doesn’t win out of turn, he is very consistent and can be in the finish again. (6) INDY GHOST and (2) COW LINE others to consider.
