Korea Racing Busan Preview – 5 December

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(3) FAST MAN was 4^th in both the Rookie Stakes and the Listed Gangseo-gu Mayor’s Trophy, and then 5^th of eight in the Listed Gimhae Mayor’s. He comes back in company several orders of magnitude softer today and will surely make his breakthrough. (5) OASIS STAR is the solitary debut-maker. He has been through plenty of trials, most recently two weeks ago when he was a close 2^nd across the line showing at the front throughout. This is a great race to debut in. (8) SOMETHING ELSE debuted back in June with a 4^th place over 1200M. He hasn’t raced since and offered few clues in a November trial but should be a place chance. (2) NAIAD and (7) FLYING SHOOTER could be the best of a limited rest.

Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(9) PORT MORE was an improved 3^rd at start number three over this distance on October 2^nd when overcoming a wide draw to get on pace. He can overcome this one too and can go one better. (7) BEOLMAUI GANGJA ran twice in the summer for a 3^rd and a 2^nd at 1000M. He was then out for a couple of months but has been back in work since mid-October and looked well enough when trialing fairly at the end of November and he can be a danger first up. (3) CAPTAIN WARRIOR was 6^th of eleven in a quick race over 1000M on debut in early October. He is drawn better here, the step up in trip can suit, and he can improve. (11) TRICK SHOT and (8) CARAT KING, the latter having bled last time out, are others in the placing frame.

Busan Race 3: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Fillies only in this maiden. After a good trial, (7) FLASH TO ME was a solid 4^th of ten on debut over 1200M in a similar filly maiden to this, settling back and running on. She should have derived benefit from the experience, the additional furlong can suit, and she can win here. (9) FINAL ATTACK has picked up in her latest couple of starts, most recently coming out of the widest gate to run 3^rd over a mile on November 7^th with a couple of today’s rivals behind here. She has run fairly at this trip too and can be in the finish. (2) MOTHER WONDERFUL has been cold of late but draws well to be on the early speed here and Munro riding for the first time makes her worth a chance at an each-way or better price. (12) GLORY WIND and (5) EOKSAE others who could trouble the place judges.

Busan Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(1) ACE SUN got his maiden win at start two over 1200M on September 12^th before running 2^nd over the same trip on his first try at this level on October 24^th when leading for much of the way around. He is up to 1400M for the first time but from the inside gate he can use his early speed to get an easy run to the lead and can be in this a long way. (5) DEIMOS came from well off the pace to get his maiden win at start three over this distance on October 31^st. He is up in class but is down 3kg in weight and can measure up. (4) BEOLMA WINNER was sent off as favourite at this class and distance on November 7^th but after jumping inward at the start never played a role. We’ll draw a line through that and going on his prior form, give him another chance. (3) RICH TREE and (12) SUCCESS COW others in the hunt.

Busan Race 5: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(12) CRYSTAL MULGYEOL secured her maiden in at the fourth time of asking over this distance on October 31^st, racing on the speed throughout. She is up in class here but is down 2kg in weight and while she has the challenge of the widest gate, there is little to fear here. (4) DOCTOR SOLAR ran poorly last start on October 31^st when well supported but was later found to have been slightly lame. He has been back in work since November 21^st and can be given another chance here dropping back in trip. (9) STUKA was similarly slightly lame after an underwhelming effort on November 7^th. He only missed a week of work and his form prior to that read well. (10) WHITE OIL and (7) BLACK JILJU are potential placers on a good day.

Busan Race 6: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(3) TOHAMSAN TAEYANG finally go this maiden win at the fifteenth time of asking in October at class 5 level over a mile and has since run 2^nd and 4^th in two outings at this class and distance, most recently on November 14^th. In this company he can be on or close to the speed and he can win. Should he find one too quick, it could be (9) ANN BUNNY. She is up in class and in trip following back-to-back runner-up finishes at a mile and while she was beaten by Tohamsan Taeyang in the first of those, she has only raced six times and has plenty of scope for more progress. (12) EOWADUNGDUNG was a class and distance winner on October 31^st and while up a full 4.5kg in the weights, will have plenty of backers to repeat. (5) SO GOOD and (8) KOHINOOR among others in the frame in a competitive race.

Busan Race 7: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(8) GRAND MORE won back-to-back races over this distance in August and September before finishing 5^th having led when favourite on his first try at this class and distance on October 17^th. He was found lame in his near foreleg but has been back in regular work since mid-November and under a light weight can be given another chance here. (6) WIN WIN was 4^th in that October 17^th race before following up with a 3^rd at this class and distance on November 7^th when leading for much of the way. Under today’s handicap he is down a full 3.5kg in weight and can be a danger. (5) DOCTOR CITY is consistent and enters off a close 3^rd at class and distance on October 31^st and will be competitive again. (12) FLEX ENGINE and (4) BEOLGYO WANGCHO other place chances.

Busan Race 8: Class 3 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(8) SEVEN DRAGON enters off back-to-back 4^th places over a mile in his latest two, coming from off the pace both times. He remains under a light weight, and while he has some form to overturn on a couple here, he gets a weight swing, and he can win. He gets a 4kg weight swing on (9) BIG MUSICAL STAR, who was a winner on November 11^th when Seven Dragon was 4^th. He led all the way that day and can defy the weight ride to be in the finish again. (2) YONGBI PAEWANG was a long way back in that race but was 3^rd in the KRA Cup Classic earlier this year and has a 2^nd at this class and distance and can be close. (7) WONDERFUL JONES and (4) WIDAEHAN SEONTAEK are the other main contenders.

Busan Race 9: Class 3 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(4) MAENGNYONG returned from almost five months off to run 2^nd at this class and distance on November 9^th, racing on pace. He is up 3kg in weight, but he draws well, and he is the pick to come out on top here. (2) BINNANEUNGIL has been hovering around the places in recent starts, coming from off the pace each time and he can be a danger late on here. (1) WOLFS KING MAN didn’t do much on his return from an eight-month absence over this distance on November 9^th. He should have come on for that run and having won over 1400M, he can be considered here. (10) BLACK SPRING and up in class last start winner (6) WORLD LIST CAT are also very much in the frame.
