Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Juvenile maidens. (4) FOREVER HIT was sent off as favourite on debut over 1000M on October 25th, settling handy and ultimately running 3rd. She should have come on for that run, the step up in trip can suit, and she is the one to beat. There is just one debut maker and (5) BARAMGAEBI looks a chance. He won his trial with a front running effort and if he brings that form to the races, he’ll be in this. (1) CLUTCH MAGIC beat a couple of today’s rivals on his way to 4th place on debut over 1200M when coming from well off the pace. He is another who should have come on for his debut run and he should appreciate a bit further. (8) PARKA SHINE and (9) EUNPA BOOSTER the other pair who look the most likely to improve at this stage.

Selections

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Fillies only in this maiden. (6) MIGHTY SHINE has a 3rd and a 4th among three starts so far, most recently in a very similar filly maiden to this over 1200M on October 26th when racing forward earlier than previously. Moon stays on and she won’t need to improve much on that effort to win this. (2) SAMJEONG WINNER returned from eight months out to run 4th over 1200M on October 3rd. She should have benefitted from that and get closer today. (4) DAEHAN COCO’S beat a couple of these when 3rd in a slow race over this trip on November 2nd. From a good draw, she can be on pace again and in this a long way. (11) OUTSTANDING GIRL and (8) JISAN FRIEND among other place chances.

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1700M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(9) POWERFUL SLEW has shown ability across three starts so far, with his best being a 3rd place over 1400M. Each time he has come from off the pace and done his best work late, so he may well appreciate the step up to two turns today and he is the one to beat. (4) YEOMYEONGUI SUNGAN has finished 4th or 5th in six of his eight starts. 1700M seems to be his go and in this company, he can be aiming for a better finish today. (5) MANGEUM CROWN was a3rd on debut and was then given a chance in Listed juvenile company in October. That proved too much too soon but he should be better on his return to shallower waters today. (8) SMART WARRIOR and (3) MAX MAN may have some improvement in them.

Busan Race 1: Class 1 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 110 Million

Busan opens with a class 1 and while the field is small (which is why it is race 1), it is competitive. (4) GALAXY ROAD comes out of the Korea Cup where he was a fair 7th of eleven. Prior to that he was a solid 3rd at this class over 2000M and coming in fresh after almost three months off, he can be coming from off the pace and winning. (3) DOCTOR CAPTAIN is ultra consistent having placed in every one of his last ten starts. He takes a shy at class 1 here which means a nice weight drop, and he can continue his positive record. (5) HUNTER DRAGON beat three of today’s rivals on his way to 2nd place at class and distance in September and can be in the finish again. The evergreen nine-year-old (2) PRO CONSUL, along with (7) DOCTOR CAESAR are others in the frame.

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

A winner on debut over 1000M in July, (1) NAOL PASS finished midfield in the Rookie Stakes in August and was then a beaten favourite at this class and distance on September 21st. She hasn’t raced since but from a good draw, under a light weight, and with Moon Se-young staying on, she is worth another chance here. (7) DUSON EUTTEUM enters off back-to-back runner-up finishes at this class over 1200M and 1300M. She led both times and will probably lead here too with every chance of being in the finish. (5) DAEWONYONGMA is yet to win in nineteen tries but has plenty of money finishes and this is the kind of race he can be competitive in. (10) BREEDO TROPHY and (8) KARIZMA others in line for the minors.

Selections

Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Juvenile maidens. (9) OASIS YOUNG ran 2nd on debut over 1000M all the way back in August. He hasn’t raced since but he has been in consistent work since early October so there shouldn’t be any fitness worries, and he can make a winning return here. (3) YOUNGYOUNG BRAVO beat a couple of today’s rivals on his way to 4th place on debut at 1200M on November 2nd. He should have come on for the run and cab be in this. (8) BAMTORI BAMBAM was 4th on debut at 1000M on October 31st, settling midfield and finishing off pleasingly enough. He too should have derived benefit from that and can get closer. (5) AEGIS CROWN and the solitary debut maker (7) POWERFUL THUNDER are others who can be competitive.

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(2) SAENAE FIGHTER was a maiden winner over this distance on November 1sr, racing close to the pace throughout. He comes up in class but is down 3kg in weight and from a good draw, he can win again. (11) LASER RUN hasn’t raced since getting his maiden win over 1300M on May 24th. He didn’t offer too many clues in an October trial, but he couldn’t hope for a softer race to return in, and he can be competitive. The rest all need an uptick in form (8) SOFT POWER is second-up following four months out and can improve on the 6th she recorded on her return. (4) CUPID MIR and (9) X FACTOR are better than their respective last starts suggest.

Selections

Busan Race 3: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(4) JADE PALACE ran 5th and 3rd in two starts in May and June at 1200M and 1400M. He hasn’t appeared since, but he looked well enough when running midfield in a fair time in a trial three weeks ago and in this company, he has every chance of winning first up. (12) MISS SNIPER got back-to-back 3rd places in September and October, racing on pace, before finishing back in the field – albeit ahead of two of today’s rivals – on November 2nd. She has the challenge of the widest gate here but with a bit of luck at the start she can find a forward position and if she does, she will be a danger. (8) TAP Q and (1) SAENAE HILL came home 5th and 6th respectively when they raced each other over this class and distance on October 31st and both can be aiming for better in this company. (5) QUEEN THE GOLD another minor money chance.

Seoul Race 6: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(11) JEULGEOUN SANGSANG took nine goes to get his maiden win, but he seemed to like it as he has now won three of his last four, most recently at this class and distance on November 2nd when handy throughout. He is up 2kg in weight and must contend with the widest gate, but he is the one to beat again. (4) CIRCLE A is an American import who has had to start at this class. He has shown promise with a 3rd and a 4th from his first two and the step up to 1400M today can suit. (7) SEOUL BULCHUNGGAK returned from seven months off to run a fair 6th of eleven at this class and distance on October 25th. A winner of three from seven before the layoff, he can strip fitter for the run and be in the finish (2) DAEBAK STAR and (10) TOHOMARKET others in the hunt.

Busan Race 4: Class 5 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(10) SHACKLE SUN is yet to win in eleven attempts but after a shaky first four outings has put together a strong of seven consecutive finishes between 2nd and 4th. He comes up to the mile for the first time, and it could be exactly what he needs to finally come out on top. If he does come up short again, (6) TANTAN DAERO is the most likely to take advantage. He too is a maiden, in his case after nine attempts, but he comes in off a smart 2nd place at this class over 1800M on November 9th when coming from midfield. He has placed at this trip too and surely has a win in him at some stage. Veteran (1) COLONEL FLYING has only won once but it was at a mile and he was 3rd last time out over this class and distance. He goes right back and runs on and can run into some money.  (9) ALL ROUND ONE and (8) STAR FORCE other place chances.

Seoul Race 7: Class Open (1200M) Weight for Age / KRA Sprint@Seoul (KOR Listed) / KRW 200 Million

Listed but with a rating cap of eighty, this is essentially class 2. With a plum ride in the Grand Prix, this could be a big hour for Ruan Maia and (12) NICE FORCE can send the jockey into the big one on a high. A winner of five from six including his latest which was an all the way score over 1400M, he is four for four at today’s distance and already looking an early local contender for next year’s Korea Sprint. He should be too good. (3) RAON TAP PLAY enters off a blitzing win in a Korea Sprint-esque time over 1200M in September. He is up in weight but draws well and can be in this. (5) SILVER RAIN has a winner of five from eleven and scored comfortably at this distance at class 3 level last time out. He’ll be on pace and is a threat. (6) SSOARA STAR and (1) GANGNAMBULCHUNGGAK among plenty of others with at least placing claims.

Busan Race 5: Class Open (1200M) Weight for Age / KRA Sprint@Youngnam (KOR Listed) / KRW 200 Million

Rating cap of eighty. (5) WINNER CLEAR beat plenty of these when winning over this distance at class 2 level on September 28th settling midfield and running on. A fair 5th of sixteen then followed in the Listed Kookje Shinmun Trophy over 1400M on October 26th and back at the distance where all five of his wins have come, he can win again. (1) BREEDO PRINCE was a very close 2nd to Winner Clear in that late September race. That was his first start for almost a year so he should strip fitter for the run and can be a big danger. (8) RACE MAN has won three out of his latest four and while this is a tougher assignment, he can measure up. (6) SAMAKUI KKOT and (7) ROAD STAR other chances.

Seoul Race 8: Class Open (2300M) Weight for Age / Grand Prix (KOR G1) / KRW 1 Billion

It’s the big one. Off the back of his President’s Cup win, (9) SPEED YOUNG will probably start as favourite. The distance is a concern – as it is for all the local horses – but ability isn’t and he was 4th in this race last year. He is a stronger horse now and this can be his time. (5) WONPYEONG STORM is a very exciting three-year-old. A previous effort at Group level earlier this year proved to be too much too soon but at his last start he showed much more maturity and strength. The distance will be the question mark. (16) YUMENO HONOO returns to Korea having finished 3rd in the YTN Cup in April. Since then he has won twice at his home track of Kochi in Japan where is a two-time winner over 2400M. He will stay and if the locals don’t, he will win. (6) GANGPUNGMA was finishing by far the best in the President’s Cup and the 2300M should be ideal for him. Defending champion (12) GLOBAL HIT returns and he will stay the trip too. There will be question marks as to his fitness but if he is right then he has a winning chance, with Seo Seung-un riding after Kim Hye-sun’s abrupt retirement, a huge vote of confidence in him.

Busan Race 6: Class 3 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(1) PACHAMAMA is a winner of three from seven and is up in class having run 2nd in both her latest two at 1200M. She likes to race on pace so she is well drawn and coming down 4kg in weight, she could be ready for another crack at 1400M. (6) HUIMANG RANI was a winner at this class two starts back over 1200M and while she got a bit far back after a slow start at this distance on October 24th, she comes into a better gate here and is worth another chance. (10) ARION KING CAR was 3rd behind Pachamama two starts back and comes up in class following a win of his own over this distance on October 17th. He comes down a full 5kg in weight and that brings him firmly into contention. (5) COLUMBIA CHAMP and (12) MAGARITA others in line for at least the minors.

Seoul Race 9: Class 4 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(8) PINE PINK shapes as a warm favourite here. After back-to-back class 5 wins over 1400M in August and September, she has since recorded two 3rd place finishes in her first two tries at this level both at 1700M. This is her first try at a mile but under a fair weight, she should have too much. (9) USEUNG JINLI didn’t have the easiest of times on her first try at this class over 1400M on October 3rd when drawn wide. She still finished off pleasingly enough for a midfield finish and with Moon Se-young, who rode her to both her victories so far, returning to the mount, she will have backers. (6) YEOWANG SOCKS hinted at a return to form when 5th at class and distance last time out and can get closer here. (10) HANEUL GAMDONG and (5) BRIGHT WINNER other place chances.

Seoul Race 10: Class 4 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

It’s hard to go past (1) MR.STORM here. He returned from a couple of months off to run 2nd at this class over 1400M on November 2nd, settling midfield and finishing off well. A previous try at 1700M didn’t go well but he should be ready for another crack against a very unintimidating set of rivals. (2) SMART SOCKS doesn’t exactly win out of turn but has plenty of money finishes and enters off back-to-back 4th places at this class and distance. She carries a very light weight here and can challenge. (3) JACHE BALGWANG ran 5th behind Smart Socks on November 2nd. He is yet to win but has placed at this class and distance as recently as September and can do so again. (5) HERO JJANG and (6) PURGE STEP others in the placing frame.

(3) WORLD BLAME is two starts into a comeback following three months out and has finished 3rd in both outings back at a mile and at 1800M. He is a winner over this distance, Maia stays on, and third up he can be peaking. (2) BRAVAZO EMPIRE is similarly two starts into a comeback, in his case following six months out. He has run 4th both times over 1200M coming from off the pace and he steps up to two turns for the first time with every chance of it suiting. (1) SMILE GOLD was a winner over 1700M in September showing on pace throughout and while she is up in class, she is down in weight and drawn nicely to be competitive at an each-way or better price. (9) SUPER THUNDER and (10) DRAGON GATE are others to consider.
