Racing returns to Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Tuesday, with the track expected to be in prime condition after its annual spring treatment. Garth Puller will welcome the turf comeback as he sends out Major Tommie in the Class 3 Handicap, the feature on the nine-race card. The lightly raced gelding was nabbed late on the poly last time, and the return to turf over an extra 100m should suit. Although he steps up in class, he remains ahead of the handicapper.
He won’t have it easy. Vihaan’s Web has clear ability despite his stop-start career and returns from a break with first-time blinkers. Warrior Royale, preferred on jockey bookings from the Mike Miller yard, drops to a sprint but has been consistent. Future Flo is as reliable as they come and must be included.
In the sprint division, Exocet remains unbeaten over the Scottsville 1000m and, despite a big weight, looks progressive. Cowboy Country impressed on debut but now must justify a stiff opening rating. Position Of Power, lightly raced and consistent, is another big player.
Race 7 is a deep handicap, with attention on Captain’s Christy, who returns to what looks her ideal trip. She beat several of today’s rivals last time, but Vision To Achieve is now 3kg better off and can turn the tables with Rachel Venniker’s claim. Convocation, Winter Rainfall, and lightly weighted Perfume Power are also in with chances.
One of the better bets could be Eric’s Legacy, who made an eye-catching debut and meets a similar field in Race 2. War Emperor and Runthruthejungle may improve.
Elsewhere, Greatest Hit can open the PA, while Green Glow looks the one to beat in the Pick 6 opener for Dean Kannemeyer, with Industrialstrength a danger.
The fifth is tricky, with Siesta Sunset, Icy Lancaster, and Buttercup Baby all in the mix.
The finale is wide open, but Night Tiger, Fate Of Fortune, Trafalgar Square, and Whereverilaymyhat should all be included in exotics.
