Korea Racing Seoul Preview – 8 November

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Juvenile maiden fillies with four of the eleven racing for the first time. (1) ARION QUEEN CAR ran 2^nd on debut over 1000M on September 20^th, leading until passed by a good winner who has gone on to place in Listed Juvenile company. She should have come on for the run, she draws well to be on pace again, and she can go one better. (8) RAPTURE was similarly impressive on debut, running 2^nd over 1000M in a quick time on a wet track. She too should have benefited from the experience, and she can be a danger. (11) HOLLY TIARA went through two trials, winning the second of them in a quick time. Moon Se-young is on and she’ll have plenty of backers first-up. (5) YUKWAEHAN SEUNGJA was a solid 4^th on debut and can improve. (6) PARAIBA hinted at ability in her heat.

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

(6) FIVE STAR has raced twice, improving to 3^rd at start number two over 1200M on September 7^th, coming from well off the pace. The slight step up in trip can suit and today can be her day. (1) COMEBACK HOLYMOELY was a solid 4^th on debut, settling midfield and running on pleasingly. He should have come on for the run and shapes as a danger. So too does (3) GEOMEUN SUP had the widest draw on September 21^st over 1200M, but he showed on pace before weakening into 5^th. He still managed to beat a couple of today’s rivals and with a much better draw, he can get closer this time. (7) SAEROUN BISUL and (9) MIGHTY CRIS are others who can be considered.

Seoul Race 3: Class 4 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 75 Million

Small but very competitive field of juvenile maidens with three of the five racing for the first time. (4) PASA SPURT was a solid 4^th of ten on debut over 1000M on September 27^th, settling midfield and running on. The step up in trip can suit and he can win here. (1) VICTORY SOCKS went through two trials, improving to 3^rd place from a wide draw in the second of them. From the inside gate he can put in a bold showing first up. (2) WHIZ WIN was a touch disappointing when 6^th of ten on debut but he was previously a trial winner, and he can be given another chance here. (7) MY MUNNINGS and (5) MIGHTY CHOICE others who should be firmly in the hunt.

Seoul Race 4: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(8) RAON BLAIDE was 3^rd on debut over 1200M on September 20^th, settling midfield then dropping right back before running on. He should have come on for that run, the slight step up in trip can suit, and he can win. (1) LIGHT WING has raced three times without distinction but went back to trial on October 23^rd and win his hear, being dropped in behind the leaders and running on. Moon stays on and improvement will be expected. (7) THUNDER FIGHTER has raced on pace across his three starts so far with his best finish being a 2^nd place at 1200M. He should be on pace again and can be in this a long way. (11) GHOST and (3) CHOWOLMA others in the mix.

Seoul Race 5: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(10) ECLIPSE MARVEL was 3^rd on debut in a filly only maiden over 1400M on October 3^rd when she led early. She should have come on for that run and while she has the challenge of a wider gate, she won’t need to improve much to win this modest contest. (8) GOLDEN SAVE is the second pick. He has a 4^th and a 5^th from two outings so far, both over 1200M and both times racing handy. Similar efforts will see him closer today. (9) AWESOME STEP didn’t do much last time out but her 2^nd place at this distance two starts back is enough o put her in the mix in this company. (1) K SIMON and (4) YONGBI SHINHWA are perhaps the best of a somewhat limited rest.

Seoul Race 6: Class 5 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(9) GHOST CHRYSOL is yet to win from eight tries but has three 2^nd places to his name, including at this class and distance two outings back. He put in a disappointing show on his latest at the end of August when slow away and racing wide, but he has had ten weeks off since and can be given another chance. (11) THUNDER STORM has a 4^th and a 2^nd from two tries at this distance, most recently on September 28^th when settling back and finishing off well. He continues under a light weight and can be a danger late on. (7) GEUMA FOREMOST returned from three months out to run a fair 5^th over 1300M on October 25^th He should strip fitter for that run and be in contention here. (2) STUNNING SERVE and (4) FINAL JILJU both need a line through their respective latest efforts but can compete for the minors.

Seoul Race 7: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(5) P N S OHOH got his win at this distance in June and then took a couple of goes to get accustomed to this class, but he has a 3^rd and a 4^th from his latest two, both at this distance and both times settling midfield and tunning on. Drawn nicely here, he has as good a chance as any. (9) START UP was an on-pace winner on debut over 1000M on September 27^th. He comes up in class and in distance today but is down in weight and can measure up on both counts. (11) GOOD MORNING COME got his maiden win at start three over 100M on October 3^rd when handy throughout. He too is up in class but down in weight and can be competitive. (10) MANI NODAGI, under a 4kg claim, and (1) SAINT WINNER are other place chances.

Seoul Race 8: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(4) WESTERN GUN has six top two finishes from ten starts with his latest win coming at this class and distance three outings back in August. Last time out on October 3^rd he had to work hard from a wide draw to get forward before ultimately finishing 4^th. He comes into a much better gate today and he will be a short price to return to winning ways. (10) SAHARA KHAN won his first two races across the turn of the year but hasn’t been seen since. He has been back in work since the beginning of October and looked well when 2^nd in a trial on October 23^rd. CC Wong rode him to both those wins and they reunite here. (6) ORANGE TIME has been runner-up in both his latest two, the first behind Western Gun in August and he should be challenging for the places again. (7) DRAGON KILLER and (8) BIG BLED are the others who will be in the market, the latter having beaten Sahara Khan in that trial.

Seoul Race 9: Class 3 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(8) JISAN FORCE was a winner over this distance on October 3^rd, leading all the way and finishing a full sixteen-lengths to the good. He comes up in class here, but the manner of that victory means he is sure to be sent off as favourite to repeat. (5) GOLDEN HONOR comes in off a 3^rd place at this class and distance on September 27^th when settling midfield and running on. He is up a little in weight but draws a little better, and he can be a danger. (11) LAFAYETTE was a winner at class 4 level over a mile in August and followed up with a 2^nd place over the same distance. He only managed a midfield finish on his first try at this level on October 4^th but he stays under a light weight and finally stepping up to 1800M may suit. (6) YEONHUI HERO and (2) PURGE KING others in the placing frame.

Seoul Race 10: Class 3 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(6) REAL DEAL has eight top three finishes from nine starts and races for the first time since June when he was a front-running 3^rd over a mile. He was 2^nd on his one previous try at this distance and having looked good in a trial last month, he can go one better here. (7) DOKKI DRAGON enters off a 4^th place in a quick race at this class and distance on October 18^th when settling midfield and running on. He gets a slight weight drop here and can go closer. (4) DUSON OPEN was a winner at this class over 1200M on September 21^st when close to the pace throughout. He is up 3kg in weight but can be ready for another crack at this trip. (9) BLACK MOTION and (1) DAEHEUNG CLASS others who can compete for at least the minors.

Seoul Race 11: Class 2 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

(10) ECLIPSE BERRY won the 2024 Korean Oaks – just – and was then 4^th in the concluding leg of the Triple Tiara and in the Jeju Governor’s Cup. That was in September of last year and she hasn’t raced since. She came back into work at the end of August and trialed well in September and she can make a winning return here. (11) J S ROAD enters off a 2^nd and a 4^th from his latest two, both at this class and both over 1400M. He cuts back to a trip at which four of his five wins have come, and he is a strong contender. (4) HAKSAN SPEED is a three-time winner at this distance. He is running slightly out of class here but that means a big weight drop and from a great draw, he can be competitive. (9) TAP TIER and (3) M J BEST also in the hunt.
