RACE BY RACE PREVIEWS: TURFFONTEIN STANDSIDE@2025.10.26

Turffontein Standside, 26.10.2025, Race 1, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R105.000, 12:50GMT+2

Race Summary: MONKEY PUZZLE has found one too good in each of his Highveld appearances (over sprint distances), so he wouldn’t be winning out of turn. He has proven himself effective over this extended trip so will likely play a leading role from a favourable inside gate. CARNARVON has been costly to follow but has the form and experience to fight out the finish. MIRROR FLECTION (returns from a rest) and SPACE MISSION are unexposed and open to improvement but have shown enough to be competitive. REECE’S WISH, TOMMY ATKINS, STOKESY and South American-import COVER are newcomers to note. Watch the betting.

Selections: #1 Monkey Puzzle, #4 Carnarvon, #7 Cover, #10 Space Mission

Turffontein Standside, 26.10.2025, Race 2, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R95.000, 13:25GMT+2

Race Summary: WAR TALK caught the eye on her reappearance over 1450m last month when staying on from the rear of the field. She would have tightened up since and the Standisde track should be more to her liking. However, it will probably take a good one to deny likely improver ANAHITA whose debut 3rd has been boosted by 2 subsequent winners from that race. The selection will know more about it with that experience to count on. PALACE SCRIPT fits a similar profile but has the widest draw to negotiate. Returning UTSAAH and well-bred debutante GRACE’S KISS also warrant respect and are worth a market check.

Selections: #5 Anahita, #2 War Talk, #10 Palace Script, #7 Grace’s Kiss

Turffontein Standside, 26.10.2025, Race 3, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R100.000, 14:00GMT+2

Race Summary: Summer Cup hopefuls PARISIAN WALKWAY and THE EQUATOR set the standard and should fight out the finish, as they are (and by a considerable margin) the joint best-weighted runners in the race. The highly regarded latter bounced back to winning ways when refitted with blinkers earlier this season and while he remains open to improvement, is unlikely to be fully tuned on his reappearance whereas his main rival would have benefitted from a recent comeback run in a similar contest so will have a fitness edge. Last-start winner BEYNAC and IMPACT INVESTOR should make their presence felt too.

Selections: #1 Parisian Walkway, #2 The Equator, #3 Beynac, #5 Impact Investor

Turffontein Standside, 26.10.2025, Race 4, Gallops, 2000m, Turf, R150.000, 14:35GMT+2

Race Summary: Top-weight SON OF RAJ wasn’t disgraced in a Grade 1 when last seen and given the company he kept on that occasion, won’t need to be wound up on his reappearance to be competitive. However, it could pay to side with OLIVIA’S WAY who had legitimate excuses for her comeback no-show from the widest stall in a 1450m Grade 2. She is undoubtedly better than that performance suggests and is also favourably treated by these conditions. THUNEE PLAYA didn’t go unnoticed on his return in a Grade 2 feature and could also have a role to play. CHESTNUT BOMBER and TWO MILES WEST aren’t taken lightly.

Selections: #5 Olivia’s Way, #1 Son Of Raj, #8 Chestnut Bomber, #7 Thunee Playa

Turffontein Standside, 26.10.2025, Race 5, Gallops, 2000m, Turf, R110.000, 15:10GMT+2

Race Summary: FREE IN SEATTLE (2nd) and DIMAKO’S JET (3rd) are closely matched on the form of a recent 1800m meeting and there shouldn’t be much between the pair again. KEY WORKER (5th) is better off at the weights with those familiar foes given her rider’s 4kg allowance. Their last-start conqueror, FUTURE DATE, has more to do under a penalty but there’s no reason to believe she won’t be right in the firing line. The latter finished behind AVOONTOAST who could represent the value. LAVA LAMP has more scope for improvement than most and is unbeaten over track and trip.

Selections: #2 Avoontoast, #5 Lava Lamp, #1 Free In Seattle, #3 Dimako’s Jet

Turffontein Standside, 26.10.2025, Race 6, Gallops, 2000m, Turf, R100.000, 15:45GMT+2

Race Summary: DAMOVA was a dominant start-to-finish winner over 2400m at this level last time and the subsequent 4-point penalty isn’t likely to prevent her from making another bold bid for victory. HAZY DAZY could play a leading role too, but her participation must be monitored as she is engaged to run at an earlier meeting. Improving last-start winner PEPPER TREE should enjoy stretching out to this distance so may pose a bigger threat. Hard-knockers KISS OF FIRE and BOOM BOOM have the means to stake a claim in the outcome too.

Selections: #2 Damova, #8 Pepper Tree, #3 Hazy Dazy, #5 Kiss Of Fire

Turffontein Standside, 26.10.2025, Race 7, Gallops, 1160m, Turf, R120.000, 16:20GMT+2

Race Summary: Race of the day. Last-start Grade 1 winner BUFFALO STORM CODY has gone from strength to strength since he was gelded and there could be more to come from him. He is one of three in the race with an unbeaten course-and-distance record. Best-weighted FIRE ATTACK, himself a winner at Grade 1 level, and recently gelded WINDS OF CHANGE (placed at Grade 1 level as a 2yo and 3yo) also boast perfect records over track and trip, so they aren’t taken lightly. GREATERIX isn’t underestimated either back in a sprint. Fillies ALMOND SEA and CHASING HAPPINESS complete the shortlist.

Selections: #1 Buffalo Storm Cody, #6 Fire Attack, #8 Winds Of Change, #5 Greaterix

Turffontein Standside, 26.10.2025, Race 8, Gallops, 1160m, Turf, R85.000, 16:55GMT+2

Race Summary: XENOPHON was narrowly beaten on his handicap debut at a higher level last month and even under top weight with a 3-point penalty to carry, won’t need to improve much on that effort to go one better. BUMPS LAST GRIND had legitimate excuses for his no-show last time but could fight out the finish if bouncing back to his earlier form. Last-start scorer HIS LORDSHIP and honest hard-knocker SPY STORY have the means to challenge, as do class-dropper LEGENDARY and stablemate PRIZED PLATINUM.

Selections: #1 Xenophon, #2 Bumps Last Grind, #3 His Lordship, #6 Spy Story

Best Win: #5 ANAHITA

Best Value Bet: #2 AVOONTOAST

Best Longshot: #2 AVOONTOAST
