Ovation Star should sparkle

Ovation Star “荣誉之星”

Racing on the polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday features a competitive nine-race card, headlined by the exciting Ovation Star in Race 7.

The Mike and Mathew de Kock-trained filly was a six-length debut winner over this course and looks a cut above. Although facing more seasoned rivals, she could easily remain unbeaten and is a strong banker in the exotics.

Her main threat may be Rahhabba, making her local debut for Candice Bass after showing fair Cape form, while One Path returns from a break and has strong poly credentials. Light Of Gabriel, a last-start course-and-distance winner, should also be competitive.

The feature sprint, Race 8, sees Major Tommie back after a solid win over the smart Hierarchy. He meets Connery, chasing his eighth win but giving 5kg, and Princess Hannah, a proven course-and-distance specialist. Future Flo remains consistent but may find 1000m a bit sharp.

Earlier, Xiphos can anchor the Bi-Pot after improving with blinkers and now drops in trip. Task Force should improve with experience, while Outrun The Rain makes a promising debut.

In the PA opener, Blue Poppy, American Gem, and Olive Grove all have winning claims in a tricky maiden.

Mike and Mathew de Kock also saddle Spaarne Rivier, a strong chance after a close third on debut, while stablemate Drielandendpunt should improve stepping up in trip. Takeyourbestshot, consistent but luckless, deserves a change of fortune.

Later, King Bavarian thrives on the poly and can feature again, while Perfume Power looks a solid chance in the finale after an easy maiden win, taking on males with a useful 4kg claim.

All told, Greyville’s midweek card promises competitive racing with several solid betting prospects.
