Korea Racing Seoul Preview – 3 October

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Juvenile maidens with eight of the twelve racing for the first time. The experience doesn’t’ catch the eye so (7) MANGEUM DAON is the pick. He settled midfield in what was a strong trial, crossing the line 4^th in a quick time. If he brings that form to the races, he may be hard to beat. (4) SUNGANUI FIGHTER went through two trials, improving significantly in the second (3^rd in 63.3 seconds from the widest gate on September 18^th. Of the experienced ones, (11) GOOD MORNING COME was 2^nd on debut over this distance on August 2^nd and while he only managed 6^th on his return at 1200M on September 7^th, it’s enough to have him in the frame here. (1) SMART HAESEONG ran 5^th on her debut on August 30^th and can have come on for the run. (10) DAEHAN SIDAE another who hinted at ability in his trial.

Seoul Race 2: Class 4 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 75 Million

Ten imported maidens with all but one racing for the first time. (1) WHIZ WIN led all the way to win a trial on September 18^th. He draws nicely and with a good start he can lead again and will take some catching. (2) GEUMA SPLASHY similarly led from gate to wire to win his August trial and while the time wasn’t so quick, he looked nice and competent. (6) WHIZ FIGHTER went through two trials finishing 4^th in both but was much quicker in the second of them (62.0 seconds on September 4^th. After those two he should be nice and fit and can go close. (10) SOUTHERN BEACH and (5) CHOEGANG BELT are others who hinted at ability and can be in this.

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Five first-timers among the eleven here. (7) FLASH RAY has gone through a whole heap of trials dating back a year but is finally ready to race. He was 2^nd in a trial on September 18^th when handy throughout and stopping the clock in a good time. He won’t need to improve much on that to win. (6) AMOS BULPAE didn’t qualify when trialed in April but looked much better equipped when close in a quick time in September. He too has every chance first-up. Among the experience, (10) YONGBI STORM is the best with a 5^th and a 6^th in fair times. He should have an edge fitness wise and can be in the finish. (1) SAMJEONG WINNER ran twice at the start of the year including a 4^th place. She returns for the first time since February and along with debut-maker (5) ECLIPSE BAY, rates as a minor money chance.

Seoul Race 4: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Fillies (and one mare) only here. (11) POWERFUL PARTNER has raced just three times and with a 3^rd and a 5^th from her latest two, she seems to be figuring things out. She steps up to 1400M for the first time, but she has a strong finish on her, and it can suit. (10) TRIPLE JENNY has finished between 3^rd and 5^th four times from her five starts. Her best came at this distance at the end of June and she shapes as the danger here. (6) BLACK SUN ran well for 3^rd at 1000M on September 6^th and while a previous try at this distance didn’t go especially well, she can be in the mix here. (1) P N S ME and sole debut-maker (2) ECLIPSE MARVEL are others in the frame.

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(8) MANI NODAGI got his maiden win two starts back over this distance before running a close 2^nd in a quick time on his first try at this class on September 14^th. He is versatile inthat he won from the front but last time came from the middle of the pack, and he can win here. (1) SOMETHING DARK enters off a 3^rd place at this class over 1300M on September 14^th. His win came at this distance and under a light weight, he can be a danger. (10) YONGAM SARANG got her maiden win two weeks ago when making all at this trip. She took full advantage of the inside draw that day so this isn’t so straightforward, but she is down 3kg in weight and she can be competitive. (2) EXCELLENT HANSEN and (5) SEMYEONG STRONG are others in the frame.

Seoul Race 6: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Fillies only in this one. (1) BEST RAZI returned from six months off to get her maiden win at 1200M on September 7^th racing handy throughout. She comes up in class here but is slightly down in weight, draws well, and can strip fitter for that run. (5) WONDERFUL PASS is yet to win in twelve attempts but has four 2^nd place finishes, most recently at this class two outings back. She then had almost four months off returning on September 14^th and running 4^th at 1400M. She similarly can be fitter here and can potentially win. (10) TEUKGEUP PARTY ran fairly for 6^th in tougher company last time out. She ran 2^nd at this class and distance in July and can come back into form here. (11) DIA ROOK and (2) BYEOKSONG among other place chances.

Seoul Race 7: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(5) JEULGEOUN SANGSANG got her maiden win two outings back on August 17^th when on pace throughout over 1300M and then ran a very close 2^nd over this same distance on his first try at this class on September 14^th when coming from behind. He is up to 1400M for the first time but there is no reason why it can’t suit, and he will be the one to beat. (8) WONDERFUL ALONG has a 4^th and a 2^nd from her latest two, most recently at this class and distance on August 31^st when ridden further forward than usual. She continues under a light weight here and can be a danger. (9) CUPID K was 4^th in that August 31^st race. She got her maiden win at the start before over this distance and similarly can be in the mix again. (6) SAENAE KHAN and (2) YONGBI KING others in the frame.

Seoul Race 8: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(5) WORLD JOY was a winner over this distance at class 5 level in August before running 2^nd on his first try at this class at 1700M on September 13^th. He stays under a light weight, he draws well, and he can win here. (9) STUNNING MONEY has won just twice in seventeen starts but he rarely runs a bad race and has been no worse than 5^th in any of his nine last starts. He carries his fair share of weight again but he should be there or thereabouts. (3) JISAN FORCE was an also-ran in the final leg of the Triple Crown in June but after a couple of months off was 4^th on his return to shallower waters at this class over 1700M on August 31^st. He can build on that here. (1) TAMRA CHOEGANGJA and (2) GOLDBERG others to look out for.

Seoul Race 9: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

Decent race. (4) NAMSAN MINAM has won his latest two, both at this distance and most recently at this class on September 6^th when he led all the way. He is up a full 4kg on that, but it’s balanced by a great draw, and he has every chance of leading all the way again. (10) WESTERN GUN has six top two finishes from nine starts including his latest two which have seen him win and run 2^nd, both at this class and distance. In this company, expect him to be on or close to the speed and he will figure in most quinellas again. (11) USEUNG JINLI has two wins and two 2^nd places from five goes at this distance including his first try at this class on August 17^th. He is up in weight but there can be more to come. (2) MEGA STEP and (1) WONDERFUL LORD others who are more than capable of featuring in the finish.

Seoul Race 10: Class 3 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(3) MYEONGSEONG CHUKJE was a winner at this class over 1800M on August 31^st when racing handy all the way and proving too strong. He comes up 3kg in weight and is back in trip, but he is favoured to win again. (1) STORM BREAKER comes in having run 3^rd at this class and distance on September 14^th, settling midfield and running on. An apprentice takes 2kg off him again and he can be a danger. (5) DREAM HONOUR has two placings at this class and was a solid 4^th over this distance last time out and he can challenge from off the pace again. (4) YEONHUI HERO and (2) TOHO SKY are both better than their respective last starts and can be given another chance in this company.

Seoul Race 11: Class 2 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

It’s about time that (4) GANGNAMBULCHUNGGAK returned to winning ways. Since returning from a five-month layoff, he has a 3^rd and a 2^nd, the latter in a big trophy race over 1700M on international weekend a month ago. He can race or he can settle back and run on, and his class can see him through here. He has a formidable opponent though in the shape of (7) NICE FORCE. A winner of four from six, he comes up in class following his latest success at 1200M on August 31^st when he led from hate to wire in a time that would make him competitive in a Korea Sprint. He was 3^rd in his only previous attempt at 1400M and surely matches or betters it today. (11) J S ROAD is very consistent and enters off a desperately close 2^nd at this class and distance on August 23^rd. He’ll be in this despite the wide gate. (6) EAST JUMP and (5) BALVENIE others to look out for.
