Trainer Richard Lim rarely leaves an Ipoh meeting without a winner and the trend can continue at the Perak Turf Club this Saturday with the eleven-race card commencing at 1.00pm.
Stable representative FAITHFUL LEADER, which goes around in the 1400m Enrich Stakes A event (Race 8), has only started twice on the circuit including an unplaced effort here a fortnight ago. However, his other appearance yielded a 2.5 length victory over proven group performer, Noah Khan in the PRTC Community Shield back in May. If he can reproduce that form, he should take a power of beating despite the 59kg impost. ROCKET BOY is proven at the track/distance and caught the eye with a fast-finishing 3rd at the last meeting, crossing the line ahead of FAITHFUL LEADER who ran fifth in the same race. WILAMARA has maintained solid form since winning a Class 4 contest in July and finished runner up to ROCKET BOY recently.
Another Richard Lim runner with winning claims is WAN LEGACY, which is engaged in an open 1400m Class 5B contest (Race 10). Not blessed with early pace, the seven-year-old does possess a quick turn of acceleration and will be suited by the distance rise. JB KAINGEH has the hoof on the till however as he attempts to break the seventeen-month winning drought. The eight-year-old closed off well last start to finish a neck behind MR HOOPER, which looks a winning chance in the last race.
MR HOOPER has been racing well producing three victories for the Lim yard as he searches for back-to-back wins in the 1400 Class 5A contest (Race 11). The veteran ten-year-old remains competitive at this level winning three times this season, including successive victories back in June. NIMBUS FLARE has improved rapidly since joining the S Deva Raj stables posting two wins, the most recent over 1600m here a fortnight ago. The six year old draws wide but has the early pace to cross and will be hard to beat again with a 3kg claim for apprentice N Shahronnizam.
PEAKY BLINDER is a chance for a winning return in the 1300m Class 4A event (Race 5), Once again to be partnered by 3kg claiming apprentice AR Aiman, the four-year-old will clash with his more experienced stable mate, WECANDO which is on the downgrade. WECANDO has scored twice at the track this year, saluting at big odds on both occasions and will prove a stumbling block despite the big weight. Twelve-year-old veteran BLACK THORN broke a winning drought in a Cosmo C recently and cannot be dismissed in this grade.
Value selection for the program is GOLDEN LIGHTNING which steps out in Race 9, a 1400m Class 5B contest. The Wayne Lim prepared eight-year-old has descended to a career low 32 points and from the good draw is a good chance of posting his fourth win on the Ipoh circuit.
