Korea Racing Busan & Seoul Previews – 14 September

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Juvenile maidens. (8) LIVE STAR was 2^nd on debut over this distance on July 29^th, racing handy throughout. He should have come on for the run and he is the one to beat here. (9) DONGGANGUI STAR went through plenty of trials before debuting on August 16^th when 3^rd over 1000M coming from well off the pace and running on well.  The step up in trip can suit and he shapes as the main danger. (11) EAN FIRST was a fair 4^th on his debut at big odds over this distance on August 3^rd. He is another who can be finishing strongly. (2) BLUE RAIN and (4) REVERENCE have raced twice each, and both placed on their respective debuts.

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1700M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(5) HEUNGHAENG DOLPUNG has a 6^th and a 4^th in two starts back, both at 1300M, following a three-month layoff. Third-up he can be peaking and the step up to two turns for the first time can suit.  (2) YEONMYEONGUI SUNGAN has been knocking on the doors of the places for a while and is another who may appreciated a bit of distance. His best finish of 4^th came from on the pace and from a good draw, he may well aim to lead early here. (1) STREET RUBY needs a line drawn through his latest, but he was 2^nd over this distance two starts back in June and that’s enough for him to be in the reckoning here. (8) PROOF and (3) P N S PA are other place chances.

Seoul Race 3: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Four last start winners among the nine-strong field. (2) WHITE CARLA returned to winning ways with an all the way score in a fast time over 1300M on August 23^rd. He comes up 3.5kg here but draws well to lead again and he is the one to beat. (5) JEULGEOUN SANGSANG is up in class having secured his maiden win at this distance on August 17^th, racing on pace. He is down 3kg in weight and can measure up in this company. So can (1) PERFECT DANAEUN. He races for the first time since July 26^th when he beat Jeugeoun Sangsang on his way to a narrow win. Another up in class and down in weight, he is third-up three months off and should be in the finish. (7) GIDAEHARA and (9) SOMETHING DARK are others in the frame.

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Fillies only in this maiden. (10) ALL THE BEST was ordinary on debut over 1000M in July but was an improved 3^rd at start number two at 1300M on August 9^th, racing on pace. She is drawn a touch wider than ideal but Seo Seung-un’s booking catches the eye and she can be the best of these. (8) CHAMPUI SIDAE has a best of 2^nd in three starts over 1200M. She has been doing her best work late each time and the step up in trip can suit. (9) MAMBO SIDAE has similarly been running on in her races and 1400M can be to her benefit. (7) CRUELLA and (4) SINCHEON FREEDOM are others who can be considered on at least a place line.

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Fillies only. After running 4^th on debut, (2) VOSTOK was a winner when stepped up to this trip at start two on August 17^th, leading all the way. She is up in class but down in weight and Ruan Maia will be hard to beat from the front here. (5) CHARMING QUEEN has a win and two runner-up finishes from three starts so far, with her latest 2^nd being her first try at this class in a very similar filly race over 1300M. The slight step up in trip can suit, and she may well start as the betting favourite. (8) LUCKY DAY was a close 3^rd at this class over 1300M on August 24^th and under a light weight, she can be close again. (1) WONDERFUL PASS and (4) NAEGILUI ACE, the latter looking for a hat-trick of wins, are others who can be in the frame.

Busan Race 2: Class 5 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(5) BARBELL TROFEO is yet to win in ten tries but has finished in the top three on six occasions. That includes his latest when 2^nd at this class and distance on August 10^th when he led for much of the way and beat a couple of today’s rivals. He can lead again and go one better. (2) GLORY ALPHA got her maiden win over a mile on August 15^th. It had been coming and while she is up in class and in distance here, she is down in weight, well drawn, and she can mix it here. (4) NICE GIRL mixes her form, but she was a class and distance winner two starts back in July and can be taken seriously in this company. (3) NEOM CITY and (8) ALICE MARINE among other chances.

Seoul Race 5: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(6) CHANGJOUI ACHIM is yet to win in fifteen attempts but has no fewer than nine top five finishes and has placed twice at this distance. Moon Se-young has finished 2^nd and 4^th with him and he stays on and today can be their day. The main danger is another maiden. (3) YEONGWON GIANT is eighteen for no wins but has been getting closer in his latest few, most recently 2^nd at this class and distance on August 17^th in what was a slowly run race. He comes up in class here but that takes him down a full 5kg in weight and he should be in this. (7) NURI CHEONWANG and (8) NASSAU CHAT are both up in class following wins at 1700M and under light weights both can be competitive. (9) THANK YOU DAECHEON placed last time out and is an outside chance of a repeat.

Busan Race 3: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(3) SUPER AERO was a winner on debut over 1000M in July before finishing a close 2^nd in a quick race over 1200M on his first try at this class on August 17^th. He is drawn well to lead here, and he will be a short price favourite to win. (1) GWANGSOKMA had been cold for a while but returned to form with 2^nd place at this class and distance on August 15^th, settling midfield and running on. He comes in under almost the same weight and can be in the finish again. (8) GAMDONGUI DOLPA got her maiden win at start five on August 22^nd over this distance. She has got better with every run, and she can measure up in this company. (6) BROWN ROOKIE and (2) ILLUSION others in the frame.

Seoul Race 6: Class 3 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(8) SEGWANG FIGHTER enters off a 2^nd and a 3^rd from his latest two outings, both over 1800M. He tackles the mile for the first time but there is no reason why it can’t suit and Moon staying on is a plus. (5) CHOEGO GAME is a two-time winner at this distance. He hasn’t got off to the best of starts in his first two tries at class 3 but has run on for 2^nd and 5^th. He should be on pace in this field and can challenge. (4) COMPLETE LEADER enters off a 4^th place at this class over 1800M on August 2^nd. An apprentice keeps his weight down and he can target more here. (2) SAINT LUCCA and (3) CHEONJANGSA are the other main chances.

Busan Race 4: Class 4 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(3) WHO IS NEXT was a winner at this class over 1400M on August 8^th when leading for most of the way. A previous try at a mile didn’t go especially well and he is up in weight, but he is well drawn, and he will be favourite to win again. (4) FLASH PARK ran out a convincing winner on his first try at a mile on August 9^th, settling just behind the speed and running on. He comes up in class but is down in weight, Seo Seungun knows him very well, and he can be a danger. (11) GOD NIKE similarly won at class 5 level over this distance on the same day, August 9^th, in her case leading all the way. She comes down 4kg in weight and while she must contend with the widest gate, she can measure up. (1) GUKDAE STAR and (7) FLYING CROWN others in the hunt.

Seoul Race 7: Class 3 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(7) MUSKET DAY is a winner of four from eight and is up in class having narrowly scored over 1400M on August 2^nd, racing on pace. This is his first go over a mile, but he has won at 1800M already and coming down in weight, he can win again. (1) BEOLGYOUI STAR had a poor day at the office last time out, fading badly late on having led. Prior to that he was a winner at this class and distance and while he carries his fair share of weight, he is worth another chance with Moon Se-young returning. (6) GEUMBIT CHEONHA doesn’t win out of turn, but he has plenty of money finishes including last time out on August 17^th when 4^th at 1800M. He should be there or thereabouts again. (8) SPARK THUNDER and (3) A. P. PATEK can sneak into the minors.

Busan Race 5: Class 2 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

(6) MY DREAM DAY was 2^nd in the Cup Mile, 4^th in the Derby and then won the Minister’s Cup, the final leg of the Triple Crown in June. He was beaten by Oasis Red on his return to Busan on August 1^st at class 3 level and while he comes up into class 2 here, he is down a full 5kg in weight, and he is the one to beat. (9) DOCTOR CAPTAIN has been the beaten favourite in his last two starts, running 2^nd in both. He’s finished in 2^nd or 3^rd in each of his last seven appearances and while he may find one too quick again, he should place again. (1) GEUMA GUTTY comes in fresh eleven weeks after running 5^th behind a couple of these at 2000M. He is a two-time winner at this distance and down in weight, he should be close. (11) BACCHUS and (4) GEUMA HUGE HIT are others in the frame.

Seoul Race 8: Class Open (1200M) Special Weight A / Munhwa Ilbo Trophy (Listed) / KRW 200 Million

Thirteen juveniles go around for a big prize. (13) MUJEHAN GEUP is two for two with wins over 1200M and 1300M and looks a bit further along than most of his rivals here. He has the challenge of the widest gate, but he doesn’t need to lead, and he can prove too strong. (11) WONPYEONG SKET was an eye-catching winner on debut before a below-par effort in the Rookie Stakes on August 17^th. She has since been back to trial, which she blitzed two weeks ago, and we can see a much better side to her today. (5) TAEYANGUI JEONSA was a winner over 1000M on debut and may offer some interest at an each-way or better price. (6) HWANSANGUI NARA is still a maiden but was 3^rd in the Rookie Stakes so warrants respect. (2) SILLAUI FIGHTER another who can be in this.

Busan Race 6: Class Open (1200M) Special Weight A / Busan Gangseo-gu Mayor’s Cup (Listed) / KRW 200 Million

Busan’s juvenile series race. (3) WILD PARK was an easy winner on debut before running 2^nd to a three-year-old at start two. He then came out on August 17^th and scored well as favourite in the Busan Rookie Stakes. He will hot favourite to win again here. (1) RUNNERS HIGH was a smart winner on debut, coming from midfield over 1000M. He should have come on for that run and may emerge as the main danger. (4) SUPEX WINNER was 2^nd on debut in a fast race at this distance in July. He will be on the early pace and could be in this a long way. (5) ENCORE and (6) DOCTOR CENTUM others who have shown ability and can improve.

Seoul Race 9: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Tricky one. (6) BREEDO TROPHY has come back into some kind of form with a 4^th and a 3^rd from his latest two, both at this class and distance. With today’s field and an apprentice on board, he comes down a full 3.5kg in weight and that’s enough to give him as much chance as any here. (9) DAEWONYONGMA is a seventeen-race maiden, but he has finished in the top four in each of his last six starts. They include back-to-back 3^rd places at this class and distance coming in here and he should be in the mix again. (10) MANI NODAGI is up in class having broken through at start number seven over this distance on August 2^nd. He is down in weight and can measure up in this modest company. (3) GWANAKSAN CHECK IN and (1) SMART A ONE others in the placing frame.

Seoul Race 10: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(2) QUANTUM K got his maiden win three starts back at 1400M and has found his feet at this class with a 2^nd and a 4^th from his latest two racing close to the pace. He’ll do similar here and he is the one to beat. (8) COMPLETE BRO is up in class having registered his maiden win at start number three over 1200M on August 16^th when he led all the way around. He is down 3kg in weight, he will be on pace, and he can measure up. (4) CHEONGHAE STAR is yet to win but comes up in class after a few too many near-misses. That also enables her to come down to a weight at which she can be competitive. (9) MIGHTY BOM and (10) JURING SKY others in the placing frame.

Seoul Race 11: Class 1 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 110 Million

(1) YONGAM SESANG races for the first time since winning the Listed Sports Chosun Trophy over 2000M in May. He is one for one over this distance and while his match fitness will have to be taken on trust and this is likely a warmup for bigger prizes, he carries a light weight, and this looks a nice first race back for him. (11) MAUIWAY comes in having beaten four of today’s rivals on his way to victory over a mile on August 3^rd. He cuts back in trip today but is a two-time winner over 1400M and while he has the challenge of the widest gate, he only comes up 1kg and he can be a danger. (3) VICS GO was 2^nd in that August 3^rd race and can be close again. (4) FOREVER DREAM  and (7) LEEWOLMA are others who can be in the mix.
