Malaysian racing makes its return to Selangor this Sunday, September 14, featuring a thrilling 11-race program headlined by the Group 1 Hygain Horse City Selangor Gold Cup.
Two of Malaysia’s top gallopers are set for an exciting showdown in the Group 1 Hygain Horse City Selangor Gold Cup over 1600m at Kuala Lumpur this Sunday.
ANTIPODEAN and LUCKY MAGIC have met just once before, with LUCKY MAGIC dominating in the 4YO Selangor Mile on July 20, while ANTIPODEAN flashed home to finish third, 2.5 lengths behind the winner.
Although LUCKY MAGIC hasn’t raced since, he performs well when freshened and has an excellent record over the mile. ANTIPODEAN, meanwhile, returned to peak form with a 1400m win last start and will be aiming to defend his title in the second leg of the Triple Crown series.
PLATINUM EMPEROR, undefeated in three of four local starts, including a win in the Wilyah Silver Bowl in February, also has the ability to spring a surprise.
Former Macau galloper FAMILY DELIGHT is eyeing his second Malaysian win in Race 4. After finishing a close second two starts back, he endured a luckless run last time out, travelling three-wide on the speed before fading to sixth over 1775m at this track.
Now dropping in the ratings, he finds himself well placed in Class 4B, and with a more economical run he should be capable of a much improved performance.
