Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million
Juvenile maidens and (2) GOOD MORNING COME will be a short price favourite. He debuted over 1000M on August 2nd and overcame the widest gate to run on for 2nd place, beating three of today’s rivals in the process. He draws much better this time, the additional furlong can suit, and he will take some beating. (1) AGAIN GOOD MAN was 4th on debut in that same race, similarly coming from off the pace. He previously raced forward in his trial and given today’s draw shapes as an early front-runner. (3) POWERFUL PARTNER is the only one in the field who has raced twice, improving to 3rd at start two and she may have a fitness edge on plenty here. (8) EAN PERFECT and (9) MIGHTY BEAT hinted at ability on their respective debuts.

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
Not the strongest of maidens. After an inauspicious debut, (8) MUJEOK HAMDAE was an improved 5th at start two over this distance on August 3rd, coming from off the pace. With the same kind of progress here, he is a chance. (10) BEST RAZI has had an interrupted start to her career making three starts up to March this year with the best being her latest when 3rd. She hasn’t raced since but she looked well enough in an August trial and couldn’t hope for a sifter race to return in. (4) RAON SNIPER briefly showed on pace on debut on August 3rd before dropping to 6th. She should have come on for that run and be in things longer here. (6) JINJUUI SIMJANG and (5) ROAD TO STAR are perhaps the best of a limited rest.

Seoul Race 3: Class 5 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
(11) HEEMANGBAND remains a maiden after twelve attempts, but she has nine top five finishes including a last start 2nd at this class and distance on August 3rd. She has placed in all four of her tries at 1700M, the wide draw shouldn’t matter as she has a strong finish on her and today can be her day. She will need to overturn the form on (1) BLACK SIDAE, who won that August 3rd race, breaking his own maiden at start fifteen. He comes up 3.5kg in weight but draws well to get to the lead and a repeat is possible. (2) BEOLGYOWISU beat a couple of these on her way to 3rd place in another class and distance race on August 3rd and she can be there or thereabouts again. (10) GANGCHEOL DRAGON and (9) SEUNGNI BAROWS are others in the hunt.

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million
Juvenile maidens with three of the nine racing for the first time. Like most, we’ll side with the only one to have raced twice already, (7) OASIS GIJEOK. After running 7th on debut, he was an improved 3rd at start two over this distance on August 10th, racing handy and beating a couple of today’s rivals. Third up he can be peaking, and he is the one to beat. After a couple of decent trials, (5) DREAM RACER was a fair 5th over 1000M on debut three weeks ago. He should have come on for that run and can go closer here. (8) BREEDO SOL was 6th on debut behind Oasis Gijeok and can have derived benefit for the run. With the first timers not looking inspiring in their trials, (3) VORTEX and (4) SHINING ONE are perhaps more likely to have improved from their respective debuts.

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
Fillies only here. (10) SAMJEONG LADY has won two of her last three, most recently at this class over 1200M on July 13th when leading all the way. She comes up 3kg in weight and she has the challenge of the widest gate, but she can win again. (3) BISANG BELL got her maiden win over this distance two starts back and then ran 2nd on her first try at this class over 1400M on July 26th, coming from off the pace. She only comes up 1kg in weight and she looks very nicely in here. (7) GLOBAL GISANG is up in class having got her maiden win at start number two over this distance on August 13th. She is down in weight, CC stays on, and she can measure up. (4) SPECIAL FORCE and (8) RAON SILENCE among other place chances.

Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
Fillies only in this maiden. (1) I AM HAPPY was 3rd on debut over 1200M on August 15th having raced on pace throughout. She should have come on for that run, she draws very well to be on pace again and those who back her here, should be happy after the race. Perhaps not with the dividend though, because she will be a short price favourite so if we are looking to get her beat, (9) DOCTOR CARA might be the one. She does mic her form but going on her 2nd place two starts back she can be in this, and Munro climbs on for the first time. (6) ANN BUNNY races for the first time since last December before which she had a best of 3rd on debut. She ran 2nd in a quick trial at the beginning of August, and if she brings that form to the races, she can be in the mix. (10) SEONGSIL WORLD and (8) GREAT STAR other place chances.

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
Fillies (and one mare) only here. (3) I AM GO has underwhelmed in her latest couple, but she has placed at this class and won at this distance. She draws well, and Kozzi returning to the ride gives her as much chance as any. (2) POETIC NUBI is yet to win in seventeen attempts but enters in the most consistent form among these with a 2nd and a 4th from her latest two. She carries a light weight and while she may find one too quick again, she should be in the finish. (10) CRAZY MARI is another maiden, but she comes up in class here after three placings in her latest three. She is down a full 4kg in weight and that should bring her into the reckoning. (4) JERAQUEEN and (8) MENI SHARK others in the placing frame.

(1) PINOT POWER enters in good form with top three finishes in each of his latest three. He comes back to a mile which is the trip he got his win over and with Tanaka – who won on him – returning, he can drop in behind the early speed and prove too strong. (11) CANCAN STEP comes in off back-to-back runner-up finishes at this class and distance, both times from on the speed. She has the challenge of the widest gate here but there is plenty of time in the back straight to find a forward position, and she is the danger. (3) SMART SMILE was a winner at this class over 1400M on August 10th, coming from off the pace and under a similarly light weight, she is not to be dismissed. (4) FLYING CHAMPION and (9) BEOLGYOUI BOM others who can enter the calculations.

(8) YOUNG FIGHTER got his maiden win at start number two over this distance on August 8th, settling handy and running on. He is up in class but is down in weight and looks to have plenty of potential to win again. (10) ISEUL CHEOREOM is yet to win but has never finished any worse than 5th. She was an on pace 3rd at this class over 1300M on July 20th and she should be there or thereabouts again. (6) SEOUL BINGO was disappointing last time when well fancied at this class and distance back in July. He has since been back to trial and can be given another chance here. (7) GEUMSEONG YEOJE and (3) SEONGSIL DAERO are the other main hopes.

(6) PACHAMAMA is a winner of two from four and most recently ran 3rd on her first try at thus class over 1400M on August 9th when leading for part of the way. She comes back to a trip at which she is two for two and from the front, she can return to winning ways today. (3) DOCTOR CITY is also a two-time winner at this distance, and he comes in off back-to-back 3rd places from his first two tries at this class. He comes up 2.5kg in weight but he can settle behind the speed and run into the money again. Doctor City will need to overturn the form on (7) QUEEN AND SERVE who beat him as they finished 1st and 3rd at this class and distance on August 10th. She is up a full 4kg in weight but is not to be dismissed. (9) ARION KING CAR and (10) SAMBA STEP among other chances.

(6) SUCCESS COW took a while to figure things out but got his maiden win at 1400M two starts back leading all the way and then ran 3rd on his first try at this class on August 10th. Being ridden on pace has suited him so expect similar tactics here and he can see off this set of rivals. (9) DIA KNIGHT got his maiden win last time out at the seventh time of asking, leading from gate to wire. He is up in class but down 3kg in weight, and he can measure up. (7) MEGA MACHINE mixes his form but his last start 3rd at this class over 1300M was positive and he can be in the mix again today. The wildcard is (3) GANGSEO PRIDE. He raced twice in the spring of 2024, finishing 2nd both times but hasn’t raced since. He looked well enough in an August trial and nicely drawn, could be worth looking at. (10) DAEGIL HERO another place chance.

Seoul Race 7: Class Open (Weight for Age) / KOREA SPRINT G3 (KOR G1) / KRW 1.4Billion
(13) CHIKAPPA. A two-time Listed winner at home, he had a hard time in Saudi Arabia earlier this year but a 4th place in the Cluster Cup at Morioka on August 11th suggests that he is coming back into form and he can be peaking here. Yutaka Take’s presence aboard seems sure to make him the market favourite and while the draw is not ideal, it’s not insurmountable. (5) VINCERO CAVALLO headlines the home challenge. He pulled off a sweep of all three legs of the Sprint Series this Spring to confirm himself as Korea’s top sprinter winning from both close to the pace and from a long way back. He hasn’t raced since May, but he went through two trials in August looking very well, and at his best, he can compete for the win. (2) SUNRISE HAWK and (12) TAGANO BEAUTY are the other Japanese visitors and both should be in the mix. Both are three-time Listed winners in Japan.
Among other locals who can make an impact, (4) DESPITE WIN is an up and comer with plenty of scope for more progress while (3) BLACK MUSK, running in his fourth Korea Sprint, was a very good class 1 winner at the end of July.

(8) OASIS RED was 5th in the Korean Derby and 4th in the Minister’s Cup before returning to wining ways at this class and distance on August 1st. That made him a three-time winner over the1800M and while he is up 4kg in weight, he is favoured to win again. (10) YOUNG SKYWALKER finished midfield in the Derby but beat Oasis Red when 3rd in the Minister’s Cup. He too won on his return to Busan at this distance in July, in his case at class 4 level. Up in class, he is down in weight and is a big danger. (6) SEOBU VISION and (1) VEREUDA were 2nd and 3rd when they raced one another – and a couple of others who go here – at this class and distance on August 9th, and both can be in the mix today. Veteran (7) SORI TAEPUNG will be on pace and there is always the chance he can sneak a place.

Seoul Race 8: Class Open (1800M) Weight for Age / KOREA CUP G3 (KOR G1) / KRW 1.6 Billion
A five-time winner, including at G3 level, (3) RAMJET was 3rd in last December’s Tokyo Daishoten before attempts on the Saudi Cup and Dubai World Cup where he finished 6th and 9th respectively. His only run since was 6th place in July’s Teio Sho but this looks to be the target. He is beautifully drawn for Kosei Miura to pick his spot, and he can return to winning ways. It has been a long time since (6) DURA EREDE tasted victory, but he only ever runs in high class races and registered two 3rd place finishes at G1 and G2 level across the turn of the year. His return in August in the G3 Elm Stakes was only fair but he can strip fitter for that run and be a chance here. (2) CHANCHENG GLORY is a top-quality Hong Kong horse and so long as he takes to the sand surface – he is certainly bred for it and has been good in work – then he must be a chance. (4) SUCCESS BAEKPA is Korea’s best hope having won the KRA Cup Classic a month ago. The third Japanese contender (7) DIKTAEAN will also surely be in the mix.

(7) NAOL DAEWANG has taken well to 1700M with a 3rd and a 5th from two tries at it. He can race on pace or handy and while it’s been a while since his sole win, Moon Se-young is up for the very first time and today could be the day. He will need to overturn form on (5) NEW ZEALAND SOCKS who ran 2nd to Naol Daewang’s 5th when they raced each other on August 3rd. New Zealand Socks remains a maiden after twenty-two attempts but stays under a very light weight and he should be close. (3) CHUKBAEREUL DEULEORA has never been any better than 4th in nine starts but has finished in that position in both his latest two and should be aiming for better here. (9) ZETTA MASTER was a winner at this class and distance on July 26th, coming from well off the pace to score. He comes up 3.5kg in weight today but neither that nor the widest gat should stop him from seeing off this set of opponents. (4) SMART CAT has a couple of wins, but he has finished 2nd on no fewer than seven occasions, twice at this distance. Another who can come from off the pace and should find just one too quick here. (The rest of the form is patchy. (3) TIZ INDY enters off a 4th place over a mile at this class and that, combined with a good draw and a light weight, is enough to out him in contention. (7) SMART CLAIR and (8) SAENAE POWERFUL are others to consider on a place line.
