Korea Racing Busan & Seoul Previews – 31 August

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(8) WONDERFUL N.B. returned from five months out on August 17^th and ran a solid 4^th over this distance. He should strip fitter for that run and can score here for an in-form stable. (10) RAON THE BELMONT has two 3^rd places to her name and enters off a fair 5^th at this distance on August 3^rd. She has a good finish on her so the wide draw shouldn’t be a problem, and she is a danger here. (2) WHITE ROMANCE has mixed her form but going on her 3^rd place two outings back over this distance has to rate as a chance in this company and from a good gate she can be on pace. (4) AWESOME STEP and (5) SPICE BAND others in line for the minors.

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

After running 4^th on debut, (5) STORM TROOPER was a narrowly beaten 2^nd at start number two at 1200M on August 3^rd having led for part of the way. He comes into a better gate today, can lead again, and third-up he can be peaking. (4) CHRYSOL PEACE did nothing on debut in January but returned on August 3^rd looking much better and running 3^rd over 1200M. He should strip fitter for that run and can be close here. (11) GAYA STAR has a 2^nd and a 3^rd from his latest two. He has done his best work late so the wide draw shouldn’t be a problem, and he can challenge at the business end here. (6) STRONG BOSS and (10) BLACK RUSSIAN are others in the hunt.

Seoul Race 3: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Fillies (and one mare). (3) CHRYSOL STONE looked very good when winning on debut over 1200M on July 20^th, leading for most of the way. She comes up in class and in trip here, but the manner of that victory suggests there is more to come, and she will be hot favourite to make it two from two. (4) CUPID K was a smart winner at this distance on July 20^th, racing handy. She comes up in class but is down in weight and she can measure up. (1) ARCH RUNNER remarkably has ten top three finishes without winning. She was 3^rd at this class ahead of a couple of today’s rivals over 1700M on August 3^rd and with an apprentice claiming 2kg, this is the kind of race where she can pick up a prize. (8) STUNNING STEP and (11) MIGHTY CAP other place chances.

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(1) HEY BROTHER was 6^th on debut and then 3^rd at start two on August 1^st. Both of those were over 1000M but the step up in trip can suit and he can win here. (11) HOLY NIKE ran in the same two races that Hey Brother did, finishing 5^th and 4^th. He has the challenge of the widest gate here, but he too should appreciate the step up in trip and can be a danger. (2) SILVER STONE improved to 3^rd on her second outing over this distance on August 1^st when she came from well off the pace to defeat three of today’s rivals. She can be running on again here. (9) JIJONSANBANG and (6) GLOBAL FORCE are others to consider on a place line.

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(3) CHOEGANG SPEED needs a line drawn through his latest ton August 3^rd when he got too far back and didn’t run on.   Before that he was 2^nd and 4^th at this class, Moon Se-young stays on, and he can put in a better showing today. (2) GLOBAL HAMSEONG will be a warm betting favourite. He is a winner at this distance and has finished 2^nd in both starts back from a five-month layoff. Third-up this preparation he can be peaking fitness wise and he can be a danger. (4) RAON THE AFFIRMED enters off three consecutive 4^th place finishes at this class and she can be there or thereabouts again. (5) YEOWANG SOCKS and (7) CHAMP HAMSEONG also should be in the mix.

Busan Race 2: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Fillies (and one mare) only here. (7) WIND ROSE got her maiden win at start number four over this distance on August 2^nd, leading all the way. She comes up in class but is down slightly in weight, and there could be more to come. (8) WORLD TOP TIER registered her maiden win at start two over 1200M by a huge margin before running 5^th when favourite for her first try at this level at 1400M on August 2^nd. The slight drop back in trip can suit and she is a big danger. (2) MUSKET GIRL was a class and distance winner in a quick race on August 10^th coming from off the pace. She is up 3,5kg in weight but that’s balanced a little by a good draw and she can be in the mix. (1) VELOCIRAPTOR and (9) QUEEN SPICY others who can enter the calculations.

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Competitive race. (4) JOY LIGHT overcame the widest draw to win at this class and distance in July 26^th, leading all the way around. She stays under a relatively light weight and from a better gate, she can repeat. (2) POWER BAND swept home from off the pace to win at class and distance on August 16^th. She comes up 2,5kg in weight but should be ridden a bit further forward today, and she can be a threat. (7) RAON FLORENCE is up in class having run 2^nd in both of his first two starts. He comes down a full 4kg in weight and he can measure up. (3) RACE ROSE was 2^nd to Joy Light at big odds in that July 26^th race and can be close again. (8) MENI WIN another in the frame.

Busan Race 3: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(10) TAMNA FIRST got his maiden win at start three over 1200M back at the start of June. He hasn’t raced since but has been back in training since the start of August and while he is up 3.5kg in weight, he is favoured to win again. (4) WIND MIREU has been out for much longer, having last race in December of 2024, winning a maiden over 1300M. During his absence he has been gelded, and he looked very well when winning a trial with a front running effort on August 8^th. He has every chance first up. (3) JINJU BIT enters with a 3^rd and a 4^th from her latest two and she can be there or thereabouts again. Last start winner (9) POWER WAGON along with (1) DOCTOR CURLIN are others in the frame.

Seoul Race 6: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(11) FUNNY TAP is a winner of two from five most recently at class 5 over 1300M at the end of June. She was 3^rd on her first try at this class and distance on July 27^th and while she has the challenge of the widest gate, she can win here. (2) STUNNING FLATTER is up in class following a win over 1300M on July 12^th when he came from off the pace. He has a very good record at this distance and coming down a full 4.5kg in weight, puts him right in this at will probably be at least an each-way price. (5) HAKSAN CAIRO is yet to win in twelve but enters off back-to-back 2^nd places which bring him up in class. He has never been outside the top five and that can continue here. (3) YONGBI TAEYANG and (8) MARU JANGGUN are other placing chances.

Busan Race 4: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(3) ARONDIGHT led all the way two starts back to win over this distance at class 5 level before coming from midfield to tun 3^rd on his first try at this class on July 20^th. Under a light weight here and drawn much better than last time, he can get to the lead and return to winning ways. (5) CARIBBEAN BAY beat three of these on his way to victory at this class and distance on August 2^nd. He only comes up 1kg in weight and he can be in the mix again (8) YEONGGWANGUICLASS was 4^th in that race and gets a 3kg weight drop here which can help him to get closer. (4) WORLD POINT and (10) GASOK JEIL others who can compete for the minors.

Seoul Race 7: Class 4 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(11) JISAN FORCE was overmatched in the Minister’s Cup, the final leg of the Triple Crown but he has won around two turns and placed at this class and distance in May. He comes in fresh after eleven weeks off, and he can win. (2) CHEONGSAN JILJU was similarly overmatched in the Korean Derby, but he comes in following a 4^th place at this class and distance on July 27^th, beating a couple of today’s rivals in the process. He draws nicely to be on pace, and he should be in this a very long way. Veteran (3) NAMSAN MUJEOK enters off back-to-back 3^rd place finishes at this class over a mile and 1400M. He is a winner at this distance and can be in the mix. (1) MR.STORM and (4) SEUNGNI GONGJU other chances.

Busan Race 5: Class 3 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(2) HUIMANG RANI comes up in class following a win and a 2^nd place in her latest two at 1200M and 1300M, both times coming from off the pace. She comes down 4kg in weight, she draws very nicely, and she will be favourite to win. (9) BLACK SPRING has a 4^th and a 3^rd from his latest two, both at this class and both at 1400M. He has won at 1200M too and down in weight, he should be in the finish again. The presence of (7) NUMBERONEPICK and his rating is what makes the others carry so little. He is inconsistent but was a winner at this class over a mile two starts back and he may be worth a chance despite that weight concession. (3) GOLDEN AIR and (5) WIDAEHAN SEONTAEK other place chances.

Seoul Race 8: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(7) FLYING CRUISER has thrived since coming up to 1800M with a 2^nd place at the end of June followed by a win on July 27^th when he led from gate to wire. He gets another crack at this class under almost the same weight, and he can get the same result. (6) SPLENDID got back-to-back wins over 1700M and 1800M in May and June, the latter at this class, before running 3^rd on July 13^th. He can settle midfield and run on, and he should be in the finish again. (1) SKY HAMSEONG beat Splendid when 2^nd in that July 13^th race. He continues under a light weight and can be a factor again. (10) K POWERFUL and (3) MR. POWER among others in the hunt.

Busan Race 6: Class 2 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

(6) WINNER CLEAR returned from almost three months out to run 4^th at this class and distance on July 6^th, coming from off the pace. He began the year as one of the most exciting three-year-olds (though Triple Crown ineligible) but while he hasn’t yet managed to push on, he can get back on track here. (3) TAEWANG SINGI also went around in that July 6^th race and has since registered a 4^th place at 1200M on August 1^st. From a good draw, he will be on pace and in this a long way. (5) PERFECT ACTION won the July 6^th race and while she didn’t do much on her return on August 1^st, that’s enough to have her in the mix here. (2) WIND WINNER and (4) POWER SOUND other chances.

Seoul Race 9: Class 3 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(11) ÉCLAIR POWER has won his latest two, most recently at this class and distance on August 2^nd, when coming from well back. He only comes up 1.5kg in weight, CC stays on, and he can complete his hat-trick. (2) DAESEONG STAR ran in the final two legs of the Triple Crown without making much of an impact but returned to shallower waters with a 3^rd place at this class and distance on July 19^th when coming from well off the pace. He remains under a fair weight, and he is a chance here. Also looking for a hat-trick is (4) REMEMBER AGAIN following back-to-back class 4 victories over a mile. He comes up to this class and distance for the first time, but he can measure up. (1) DRAGON SQUARE and (6) MYEONGSEONG CHUKJE others to consider.

Seoul Race 10: Class 3 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

It’s hard to go past (5) NICE FORCE here. Never worse than 4^th in five starts, he won three in a row between March and June with the last of them being at this class and distance. He stepped up to 1400M on July 20^th and ran 3^rd heaving led for much of the way but beating three of today’s rivals, and back at 1200M, he can return to winning ways. (9) DOKKI DRAGON was very narrowly beaten into 2^nd over this distance on his first try at this class on June 21^st. He is only up 1kg in weight and can be close again. (4) BRAVAZO EMPIRE returns to action for the first time since April. He won two of his three starts before the layoff and having come through a trial in fair fashion a month ago, he can be competitive first-up. (1) BONGHWA STAY and (2) DREAM ISLE others in the hunt.

Seoul Race 11: Class 1 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 110 Million

(6) YEONGGWANGUI WORLD is a winner of nine from seventeen most recently back-to-back scores in May and June at class 1. He had a poor day at the office last time out on July 27^th and while he does come up in weight from that, he can be given another chance. That does mean he has form not overturn on a couple from that July 27^th race, notably (4) GLOBAL BOBAE, who ran 3^rd. That continued a consistent run of results and he’ll be close again. (1) MIGHTY LOOK came off the Queens’ Tour to run a close 2^nd over a mile on July 6^th and should appreciate the drop back to a trip over which all of her five wins have come. (8) GEOSEN BANGYEOK and (9) VICEROY are the other main chances.
